Chapter 14

"amazing" Ciri exclaimed with surprise and joy because in front of us was an incredible castle that was built in the rock even if we could see areas where the stones had fallen, it didn't take away from its splendor.

I was happy myself that our journey was finally over but especially to see Kaer Morhen in real life, it was quite something because between the game and the reality and especially since we were on a kind of hill, a big draught blew in front of me,

I took a deep breath and then smiled with joy because the sound of birds, the soft wind, and seeing a Cirri start to run towards the castle made me smile with joy, telling me that this trip was still something, discovering the reality of the world, discovering ways to defeat monsters and especially a new stage of my life; a page closed and a new one opened

I snapped out of my reverie with a tap on my shoulder, I looked over and saw Geralt smiling as he looked at Kaer Morhen.

"Aiden, here we are at our home."

Surprised by these words, I questioned him again "Our?"

Raising his eyebrows, he looked at me.

"Of course, the moment I accepted you, you are part of our home now"

Geralt started to walk towards Ciri who kept telling us to hurry up, but I felt comfortable inside, telling myself that Geralt has already accepted me among them, I was honestly happy then I pulled Ablette's rein towards Geralt who was waiting for me, and Ciri who was jumping up and down waiting for me, without noticing me a smile and I couldn't help but mutter.

"Home eh?"

--------------------------

We had arrived where a gate stood open and as we approached a sort of courtyard we saw an old man smoothing his sword on seeing us he turned his gaze towards us and eyes surprised to see us, but seeing Geralt he smiled and then stepped forward and gave a hug.

"White wolf, it's good to see you"

"Vesemir, it's been a long time"

"Yes, moreover, I see that you are accompanied" as he finished these words, he returned his gaze to us then he approached and crouched down towards Ciri.

"Tell me your name, little one"

"Ciri"

"I see" he stood up without saying a word, then he walked over to me and looked me in the eye.

"And you, young man?"

"Aiden"

"Mmh"

Then he stood up and walked over to Geralt and said.

"Why don't you come inside, you must be hungry"

We started to follow him and as we followed him I couldn't help but look around, we could see fallen stones and moss growing out of them which looks like it's been used for a long time, a broken crossbow, and some kind of collapsed armory and a big hole heading outwards, and then we went in and what stood in front of us was a huge room in the center of which was a bed with chains but when I looked up it was incredible, we couldn't see the end of the ceiling

"Come and sit down" then we sat on the benches and Vesemir brought back some kind of wine which served Geralt and me, but not Ciri and on seeing this she pouted.

"What about me?"

"There would be water maiden if you wanted."

Ciri disgruntled went as evenly as she could to fetch some water from a jar and sat back still sulking.

"Well, white wolf, tell me your story.

Then Geralt began to tell the story of how we met and the situation of our journey, but when he heard that I wanted to become a witcher, he frowned and looked at me.

"Kid, I won't allow you to become a witcher."

"What?!" Indignant at these words, I slammed my hands on the table, but indifferent to my reaction, Vesemir replied calmly.

"I don't want you to waste your life, as you can see, we are the last remnants of an old life and I want it to stay..."

I interrupted him.

"This is complete rubbish!"

"Keep your voice down Aiden," Geralt said as he replied with cold words, knowing I had gone too far, I sat back down.

"Sorry."

"It's okay, you're young, and your emotions override everything, you know why I forbid you because man is a wolf to man, and it's the same thing, we witchers are treated like monsters while humans fear us, we're shunned by society and those few things I don't want you to experience"

"I know that" I kept silent, but I knew I had to speak up.

"I know all this, Geralt has been railing on me about it every time but every time I told him I didn't care" I looked at Vesemir and for the first time Vesemir saw a look that wasn't the look of a child but rather

"A hunter huh" Vesemir's thoughts were reflected on his face as he smiled without noticing, so Geralt noticed and finally smiled back because he knew it was going to be like this

"A person I considered a grandfather and my first mentor always told me to follow my heart and that's why my heart has its reasons that my reason doesn't know and that's something I can't help but listen to, it tells me to become stronger to protect those who made me a promise" as I said these words I looked at Ciri who looked at me with a surprised look, and then I looked at Geralt

"Another reason is that on this journey I had someone who thought of me more like Aiden than a son" a little surprised by what I said Geralt widened his eyes then I returned my gaze to Vesemir who was smiling at me

"That's why, even though I had a father, I like to think of Geralt as a father who teaches his son, who protects him, who makes him learn, who scolds him for his mistakes, and the one who has been with me for a large part of my life, someone I know I won't be able to part with and that's why, to protect what I love, I want to become stronger, if I have to become a monster to protect them, I'm willing to take that risk."

There was a silence in the room until Vesemir ended it.

"Are you sure? you can never go back"

"No problem, I've already decided"

"I see, so prepare yourself for an event that has never happened in a long time" then Vesemir got up and left for his quarters and the room went silent again.

Was it fate that brought together these people who are the world's only hope, was it fate that decided this turn of events, for after all, was it not the wolf that protected the swallow?

So why did fate decide that the wolf would protect the eagle and teach it what a true hunter is, isn't it better to learn from hunter to hunter Fate has bound, fate has changed how the future of the world and the landscape of the world will change so, well? Badly? Only time will tell, and no one can predict what will happen.

(If you're wondering about the eagle, that will be explained in the next few chapters, though you can speculate and share it with everyone, as I find it interesting when many people see an author's story in different ways)

(Yes, you guessed it, Geralt is going to change, and before you say it, Aiden hasn't forgotten his father from before, but don't forget his father cared for him, but he never experienced father-son outings, father-son moments, and with Geralt, he's going to change)
