1 A Sky Full of Stars

Izuku Midoriya watched from the roof of the dorm buildings, his usually warm green eyes cold, betraying little emotion. Even as he looked at the pitiful scene below him. He observed silently as one Bakugo Katsuki was being escorted out of U.A. Highschool. Bakugo's eyes were blank, but the slight redness that tinted his eyes had proved that he had cried before this. Out of anger or regret, Izuku would probably never know. But Bakugo was never one to go down without one last struggle, as proved by the slight amount of soot that covered Aizawa's coat. This thought led way to a mournful smile making its way to Izuku's face.

With the cold night air surrounding him, Izuku reminisced on the events that led to this fateful occurrence, something Izuku knew would happen far earlier in life. It had been another normal day at U.A., but Izuku knew it would happen eventually. Bakugo exploded, like usual, during a training session. This would usually be dealt with calmly, either by Izuku finishing their spar with calm, practiced maneuvers. Or if Bakugo truly meant harm, Aizawa would wrap him up in his scarf and use his quirk, and then give Bakugo a light slap on the wrist. But this time, Bakugo let something slip he shouldn't have. 'The old teachers were never this proactive.' Izuku had heard, muttered angrily under Bakugo's breath. And considering he had heard it, Aizawa most definitely had too. So Izuku's face turned blank, preparing himself for the fallout that would happen shortly.

And like Izuku had predicted so long ago, their past was pulled up. Aizawa and the school principal, Nezu, dug through the ten years of past that Bakugo would never leave behind. Countless misdeeds that would easily get him expelled pulled out one after another, something that would disgust anyone that saw it.

And Izuku knew it was finally over when he had finally heard Bakugo being called down to the main office, signifying the beginning of the end. And so here Izuku sat, watching the culmination of all the past wrongings. The conclusion of his tormenter, and yet at the same time, the end of his best friend. The end of the person he had known since birth, the end of his first friend, and the end of his newfound rival. They might've made up, but Izuku knew that this newfound peace would always be short-lived because Bakugo could never make it far.

But Izuku knew he was not the only one who had predicted this. While teachers may have seemed to greatly favor Bakugo in the past, Izuku knew the truth. He had seen the pitying looks on the adult's faces once Bakugo left, almost like they were watching a dying star. And while Izuku wanted to be mad at them, scream that they should be helping build Bakugo up rather than watching him tear himself down, Izuku knew he could not. Because that would make him a hypocrite. But the adults never corrected him, they merely watched as Bakugo dug his grave, deeper and deeper he went with no one to help him. And perhaps Izuku could've been that person, but Izuku never was one to step into that kind of position. For as much as a hero Izuku was, he just couldn't find it in him to be the hero Bakugo had needed. So Izuku stayed, content with taking the bullying and abuse, while in reality, he watched Bakugo ruin his dream with his own two hands.

But Izuku could relate to Bakugo, and that was perhaps the nail in the coffin for him. Because Bakugo was what Izuku was not, Bakugo was Izuku's polar opposite. Bakugo had the power, but he struggled to be heroic. Yet Izuku was far too heroic and was powerless. Izuku knew that if their positions in life had been switched, he would be the one being taken out, not the observer he is today. And what a terrifying thought that is, to come to the startling realization that it was truly the environment that shaped oneself.

But while Izuku was raised to the stars, given the power to complete the missing pieces of himself, and given friends to help achieve his goal. Bakugo merely drowned himself, never being given proper attention. Merely given the pity of those around him who waited for karma to finally catch up.

And it seemed that Karma had finally caught up, and yet while this statement may be true, Izuku couldn't feel sorry. In fact, Izuku couldn't feel any emotions for Bakugo's pitiful fate, which had been written in the stars far before he even realized it.

Because in a sky full of billions of stars, who cares if one goes out?
