1 Waking up

It's a beautiful day outside, birds are singing, flowers are blooming...

BUT WHY AM I OUTSIDE ?

I remember fairly well chatting with friends and taking a survey before going to sleep, but i as far as I'm aware my bed was within my bedroom. A bedroom is inside. So, again, why am I outside ?

[System booting up. Welcome, user Belfas Mortimer, to Majika.]

System ? Majika ? Are you implying that...

I'm an Isekai protagonist ! Awesome ! Or subject to an horrible experiment performed by some mad scientist who loves manga and anime. Meh, probably the first option.

I should probably start off with the almighty classic...

APPRAISAL !

... eh ?

I mean, the abilities are nice and all, very useful, awesome names, and i don't mind starting off at the F rank - whatever that means - but uh...

Did... did it just say skeleton ?

Well would you look at that ! I'm all bones !

Really, losing my flesh is somewhat sad but i'll manage. There are a lot of pros after all. Like litteral immortality. The real issue is that... Well, usually life isn't bright for the undead in a fantasy setting. Adventurers, priests, clerics... Everyone wants to kill them ! In some works even regular villagers can easily get rid of skeletons like me ! I'm just a lesser skeleton ! Whatever that means !

Wait, I know what it means. Looking at myself, i can see that all my bones are cracked and a dirty yellowish color instead of being smooth and a pristine white. Sigh, not only did I become a skeleton, I didn't even become a good one... Curse you, skeleton ! I shall bathe you in milk to overcome your weakness !

Well, seeing how I'm lost in the middle of what appears to be a forest AND knowing what kind of creatures live here in a fantasy world, I better run and find a shelter or something. Alright, first, getting up...

Oh my god ! So many cracks ! Did I get a centenary skeleton perhaps ? No time for complaining though, I'm fairly certain that I heard a howl and one thing that I know is that bones and wolves don't mix well.

So here I am, a skeleton on the verge of breaking, running through the forest with no idea of what lies forward, be it on this specific path or for this life in general, but really, who trully does ? Anyway, the endless stamina comes in handy for sure, I can keep on running at the same pace with no issue. But since I have time to think, why am I in this situation ? I don't remember dying, being summoned or meeting a god. What could have possibly brought me here...

The survey ! What kind of fantasy race would you be ! My result was skeleton because I wanted to get rid of "useless" things like eating, sleeping and breathing. And also because I didn't want any specific buff or debuff, just average stats like humans usually have in this kind of thing. But how did answering a survey bring me to an actual fantasy world ? Magic, yes, but was it someone from Earth doing it or is the one responsible here, on... Majika ? Yes, that's it, Majika. Really creative name by the way.

Oh, a cave ! No bone anywhere in sight, indicating that it's probably unhabited. Hopefuly. Well, it's better than nothing. It's small, sure, but I can walk inside just fine and it's deep enough that you could be protected from the rain and have enough space to light a fire. Not that I need to, because, you know, undead. Really useful thing really. But hey, I have nothing to do so might as well take a few sticks and play around - I mean, test some things.

[Stick x 1 Put in inventory]

Oh, I have an inventory ! Let me check and... Oh my. Unlimited space. I can even rename items, probably to prevent them from disappearing in stacks. Can you imagine the one true ring disappearing in an inventrory just because the guy was already carrying a few rings ? So yeah, useless now, but when I'll have a warehouse worth of stuff, it'll definitely come in handy. Oh, did I forget to mention that there is apparently no limit ? The only limit right now is the size of the items themselves, nothing occupying more than 2 meters cube worth of space on its own, but it will keep on increasing as I level up. Yeah, there lies my cheat ability as an isekai protagonist. Although I will be somewhat disappointed if that's all, it's already a very scary ability. Think about it, there will come a point when I'll be able to carry around this entire forest. At least I think. I don't know, future vision isn't on my list of abilities.

[Using Stick x 3 and Tangled Plant x 2 you crafted a Stick Figure x 1]

[You unlocked Crafting]

Oh, crafting ! That's nice ! And surprisingly rare in fiction. Can I make more ?

[You crafted Stick Figure x 1]

It works ! And this time, no need to craft the item myself, having the components is enough for the system to make it itself. Really convenient. I could craft an armor to protect my fragile bones and turn this cave into a real home.

Hey, that sounds like an awesome quest to start things right ! Making armor and establishing a real home ! Fantasy world of Majika, prepare yourself for the great adventure of Belfas Mortimer, skeleton extraordinaire !
