A Shadow's Reincarnation

On a certain train sat a certain boy, with average looks. He had his eyes closed as he dozed off while hugging his bag. Earphones were plugged into his ears, silently listening to the music. Just then, the heavy bass music he was listening to suddenly became heavenly zither music that contained the truths of the Heavenly Dao. The boy’s heartbeat followed the loose rhythm of the heavenly tune for a straight minute before having been jolted awake. When the boy's eyelids fluttered open, it was as if the people on the train heard angels weeping and devils laughing. The Heavens shook in fear whereas the Underworld rumbled with joy. As for this boy’s origin, not even the gods & devils dare find out. _____________________________________ Disclaimers: - Ai pic till I can afford to commission an artist. - This is the 2nd continuation of my Magic Martial World series. - It's paused until I finish my diploma this June 2024. _____________________________________ Discord: https://discord.gg/R7nmUAqm

Salt vs Machinery

Back to the present…

After resting for a bit longer, the blazing winged angel called Phoenix picked up his sword and started training again.

Wielding his Vermillion Bird Longsword, Phoenix was able to leave tears in space with each swing of his sword.

"Soar forward with your blazing brilliance…Vermillion Lord Secret Art, Vermillion Bird Flight!"

With a swing of his sword, a sharp slicing sound was produced before the space in front of him collapsed, a black hole forming in its place.

Phoenix revealed a satisfactory smile at the sight of his secret art's destruction.

'Wonderful, truly wonderful…With that, I have trained my Vermillion Lord Secret Arts to perfection.' He nodded to himself.

Seeing this, the other angels and saints let out sighs of unwillingness before they too continued on with their own respective training.

Hours later…

"The Saint of Salt, Daniel and the Angel of Machinery, Logic will begin their spar…3, 2, 1…Begin!" Volunteering to be the referee for the match, Phoenix gave Daniel and Logic a nod each.

He then raised his arm over his head before he brought it down, signaling to the two that it was fine for them to start fighting now.

Without hesitation, Daniel thrusted his arms at the air while chanting an unrecognizable language.

The water molecules in the air started to gather around Daniel before they began forming into an ice blue rapier.

Seeing this, Logic too, began performing a series of hand seals before he slammed the ground as hard as he could.

The ground beneath him started to shake violently, causing trees to tumble and wild animals to run away.

When the ground stopped shaking, Logic couldn't help but reveal a smile at the edge of his lips. 'Haha, you're done for, Daniel.'

Moments later, Logic stood back up with two cylinder-like objects covering his arms.

Curious, Daniel squinted his eyes to take a good look at his friend. It was only then did he see the two silver gauntlets Logic wore on each of his arms.

"You managed to conjure up silver gauntlets from the ground? Not bad, you've improved." Daniel did not feel distressed and instead nodded his head in acknowledgement.

Yes, he, like Phoenix, was happy for his friend since that meant that they could fight at a higher level than when they were first reborn centuries ago.

He remembered it like it was yesterday when he died from old age after helping his best friend purge the world free of evil cultivators.

But just when he thought he got to enter a nice, deep slumber, Daniel was highly mistaken.

It didn't take long for the Magic Saint to open his eyes to find out that he was no longer in the hospital ward with his best mates.

Instead, he found himself sitting in a white room. There was a young man there that greeted him and explained Daniel's current situation.

"The heavens have noticed your righteousness and want to reincarnate you into the land of angels and saints. Will you accept the heavens' offer?" The young man was the one to ask Daniel but he didn't give any time to the confused saint.

He simply smiled at Daniel for a moment before he and the white room disappeared before the Magic Saint's eyes.

Daniel was stupefied after the encounter, thus allowing the young man to transport his soul to the mystical realm without having to deal with rejection.

It was only after Daniel had lived a decade in the mystical realm that he managed to meet up with his old friends.

As for their abilities, they were incredibly weak at the time since they possessed mortal souls and could only absorb the mystical realm's energy in miniscule amounts.

It took them centuries to get where they are now, so each improvement was gold to these angels and saints.

Ah, I've gotten off track with the background talks…Whoops, sorry about that.

Now that both Daniel and Logic had summoned their choice of weapons, it was anybody's game.

Whoever takes the first move would secure the victory.

A cup of tea's time passed as silence filled the air.

Daniel and Logic both stood in their original places, their hands were gripping tightly to their weapons.

Taking a deep breath, Logic gripped his two silver gauntlets before he slammed them at the ground with all his might.

"Boom!" The ground started splitting into webs before a series of earth spikes rose out of the ground beneath Daniel.

But the Saint of Salt had already predicted this. With a light tap of his foot, Daniel launched himself into the air to avoid the earth spikes.

Following that, he sent out several sword waves at Logic in retaliation. "Water Elemental Sword Arts, Boundless Ocean!"

Each wave he sent out was able to split mountains in half, so he hoped to deter Logic with this.

Alas, the sword waves reached the Angel of Machinery within the blink of an eye, but Logic protected himself by encasing himself in several layers of steel.

"Haha, have you forgotten my title, Daniel? I am the Angel of Machinery, the lord of all metal. Your puny sword waves can't cut through my metal armor that easily!" Logic smirked.

With a wave of his hand, miniguns extended out of his silver gauntlet, while the layers of metal protecting him transformed into a set of light but highly defensive armor for Logic to wear.

The angels and saints watching the battle shook their heads in dismay, as they recalled the unfair battles he won with this combo of his.

"Ever heard of bringing a knife to a gunfight? Sucks to be you, Daniel but…I'm winning this." With each minigun in hand, he aimed at his defenseless friend and started shit talking him.

Nonetheless, Daniel remained calm like an ancient well under the threat of Logic's arsenal of weapons.

"Water is the source of all life. Without water, life can only wait for death. Water is formless, yet is full of forms. So today, I will show you what the forms of water look like…" Eyes focused on his rapier, Daniel murmured under his breath.

He then disappeared, leaving only a puddle of water where he once stood.

Immediately, Logic closed all the gaps in his armor while also covering his head in a thick sheet of metal.

He had his miniguns retracted before he closed the gaps in his silver gauntlets as well.

At this point, Logic had become a full fledged turtle capable of withstanding the heaviest of attacks.

But why? Why would he play defensive when his opponent has become a puddle of water? Because the Saint of Salt, Daniel, has decided to use his most powerful magic on him, Earth Swallowing Wave.

My knee has yet to recover from dislocation, and I have to attend a camp I've paid for later at 9 am...Crap.
