The last person Paul saw was Alice Cullen, who arrived later. Paul felt that she was different from the other vampires he had met, but he couldn't say why.

Paul thought it was because he had always liked her personality in the stories he had read. Moreover, Alice was definitely different from the other vampires because of her history.

Paul waited a while longer but did not see Alice's companion. He felt sorry for her because it meant that his arrival made Alice stay alone longer and took a long time to get to know the Cullens.
