12 Irina 1

Irina liked Paul from the day she first met him, she knew that Paul was different from the other vampires she knew. Paul liked to collect Katanas and seemed to be from a different time, just like she was.

After knowing Paul for a while, it seemed like he came from a different world. Paul said he was turned less than 20 years ago, but as he seemed inexperienced as a vampire, it seemed like he had been turned less than 10 years ago.

Even so, Paul was a vegetarian and had incredible self-control. One day, they went hunting and found a bleeding human in the mountains. Surprisingly, it was Paul who had the most self-control in their group.

Irina thought that maybe Paul was like Carlisle and had so much compassion for humans that he never drank human blood. This made her even more interested in him. She and her sisters had had many casual relationships with human and vampire men over the last almost a thousand years.

But Irina didn't approach Paul as she normally would. He was different because he was a vegetarian like them and lived in the same house. Maybe in the future, he would be a part of the Denali coven. Besides, as a woman, Irina noticed that Paul seemed to like Tanya more.

As she expected, Paul tried to tell Tanya that he liked her, but Tanya was already in love with Edward and was waiting for him. So Tanya rejected Paul and told Irina and Kate that they could go after him if they wanted.

Time passed and Irina already considered Paul a member of the Denali coven. Irina saw that Paul seemed bored and bought him a cool car, several books, and various musical instruments. Irina was interested, and Tanya hoped that Paul would use the piano.

The vampires in the Denali house were prepared to suffer for a few months while Paul began to learn the instruments. But to their surprise, it seemed like Paul already knew the instruments and didn't play as badly as they thought he would from the first time.

Soon Paul seemed to play all the instruments well, even though he still made some mistakes. Irina would often talk to him. Paul also read many books and didn't seem bored anymore. While she was thinking this, Tanya called her and Kate to talk.

"What are you two doing? Paul has been in our house for almost two years now and you haven't tried anything with him yet?" said Tanya.

"I thought we had to be more careful, after all, he's different from the others. He's living in our house and he's a vegetarian like us," said Irina.

"Yes, and he already said he liked you, Tanya, so I didn't want to take the risk and be rejected," said Kate.

"I don't know what to say to you guys. His being a vegetarian and living in our house is even better. We already know he doesn't love any of us, and we don't love him either, so it will be a casual relationship," said Tanya.

"He liked me just because he found me more interesting, but he also liked you guys. Now decide who's going to be with him. After all, he almost left when he started getting bored. He's not going to stay with us forever. It's better for one of you to enjoy him," said Tanya before leaving.

Irina thought about what Tanya said and thought she was right. After all, if it weren't for Paul, she would look for a man she liked to be with, whether human or vampire, so it was better to be with Paul. Irina looked at Kate and saw that she seemed indecisive.

"Kate, I'm interested in Paul. If you're not interested too, I'll try to be with him," said Irina.

"Okay, I'm not sure if I like him, and besides, I didn't like that he chose Tanya over me when he first arrived," said Kate, giving up on Paul.

Irina didn't mind that Paul liked Tanya first. As Tanya said, they didn't love each other anyway. If love wasn't involved, it was all a matter of attraction and passion. Irina liked Paul and knew he was attracted to her too.

So one day after Paul finished reading a book, Irina approached him and gave him a kiss, Paul was surprised, but soon responded and so Irina knew she wouldn't be rejected, soon they used Paul's bed for the first time.

Being with Paul, Irina was happier and made her sisters jealous, Irina sometimes went out in the car with Paul and stayed in his room to read with him, the two became much closer and Paul no longer seemed bored.

One day Irina saw Paul leaving the house with his Katanas and followed him into the forest to see what he would do, soon Irina saw Paul using the Katanas with great skill, so much so that she found it hard to believe that he had found those Katanas as he said.

But Irina had to say that it looked very beautiful to see Paul concentrating and using the Katanas with great speed while his skin shone like a diamond in the sunlight, Irina wondered what other secrets Paul was hiding.

After a few weeks, Irina had some answers to her questions, one day Tanya was telling her stories and Kate tried to play with her again, this happened many times and Irina was used to it.

But it seemed that this time Tanya was annoyed and made fun of Kate by telling a story that always made Kate sad, the two started fighting as it didn't normally happen, Kate even tried to use her powers to give Tanya a shock which would hurt her a lot.

Irina and the others were trying to stop the two from fighting, but when they saw Kate use her powers, they backed off, but Paul, who Irina thought didn't know about Kate's powers, didn't back down and took Kate's hand to stop her.

Everyone was scared thinking that Paul would get hurt, but soon they were surprised when they saw that he was unharmed and seemed to be immune to Kate's powers, this surprised everyone and calmed Kate and Tanya down who stopped fighting.

"Paul, how come you weren't affected by Irina's power? Are you a shield?" Irina asked.

"I don't know, I didn't know that there were special powers in other people besides me," said Paul.

Irina thought Paul was lying, but he said that the one who turned him died soon after, so it was possible that he didn't know about it, besides, no vampire talks about special abilities if they have any.

So everyone looked at Eleazar, he used to work with the Volturi in the past for being able to identify the powers of all vampires, Irina heard Eleazar say once that he could even find out if a vampire was a shield.
