7 Winterfell 2

~~Previously, in the life of a Samurai, our protagonist entered Winterfell.~~

Miyamoto's eyes fluttered open, a deep yawn escaping him as he emerged from a restful slumber. Stretching his well-rested limbs, he mused aloud, "Ahhh! That hit the spot. Yesterday's bath after a few days felt sooo great. And after sleeping in the forest for 3 days, I almost forgot how a bed feels."

As he concluded his stretches, a sharp knock at his door roused his attention. He grumbled, "What?" in response, and a voice from the other side of the door conveyed a message, "Lord Stark wants to break the fast with you, so he asked me to call you." Miyamoto nodded in acknowledgment, replying, "I will be there after washing up."

Miyamoto strolled into Winterfell's grand hall, spotting Lord Stark and his son Rickerd seated at the high table on his right. An empty chair on Lord Stark's left, presumably for Lady Stark, caught his eye.

"Miyamoto! My friend! Come here, sit beside me," Lord Stark boomed as he spotted Miyamoto's entrance.

"It would be an honor to join you, M'lord," Miyamoto replied warmly.

"How do you like Winterfell?" Lord Stark inquired, striking up casual conversation. Miyamoto responded with a genuine smile, "It's a great keep, M'lord, and, of course, the hospitality is great too."

"Ah! Here's the bread and salt. We forgot to present this to you yesterday. Please have some," Lord Stark offered, passing a plate with warm bread and salt.

"Thank you," Miyamoto acknowledged, taking the plate and savoring the offering right in front of Lord Stark.

Curiosity piqued, Lord Stark delved into the reason behind Miyamoto's journey. "So, Miyamoto, what's a man like you doing all the way on the other side of the world?"

Miyamoto thought for a moment, contemplating whether it was an interrogation or mere curiosity, then replied with a smile, "Looking for a Lord who's worthy of my sword, M'lord."

Young Rickerd couldn't resist joining the conversation, asking, "So you're looking for a lord to serve like the Knights?"

"Yes, young lord," Miyamoto affirmed.

But Lord Stark was intrigued by something else, "By the way, Miyamoto, I remember you telling me yesterday you saved me because of your code. What's that?"

Miyamoto elucidated, "Oh, that's the code of samurais, a set of principles that all samurais follow. It's called Bushido."

"Bushido?" Both lords echoed in confusion. Miyamoto continued, "Yes, Bushido is the name. It has 7 parts."

He listed each principle with eloquence:

—"Gi - Justice or Righteousness: We believe in righteousness, but we do not force it on others, but forge it in our hearts."

—"Yu - Courage or Bravery: We rise in the face of danger while others fear to act. We must have extraordinary courage, accepting the risks involved in being true to our principles. This leads us to live a life in a full, complete way."

—"Jin - Compassion or Empathy: We, through intense training and meditation, become fast, strong, and wise. Enough not to use that power against others weaker, to have compassion for our equals and inferiors, but never against our enemies."

—"Rei - Respect or Courtesy: We have no reason to be cruel, nor do we need to show our strength. We are respectful because force without reason turns us into animals."

— "Makoto - Honesty or Sincerity: When we say we will do something, it is as if it is already done. Speaking and doing for us are the same thing."

—"Meiyo - Honor or Judgment: We have only one judge of our honor, and that is ourselves. The decisions we make and how we carry them out reflect on who we truly are."

—"Chugi - Loyalty or Responsibility: Having done or said something, it means something belongs to us. The responsibility for it, and for all the consequences that follow from it, will be ours."

Miyamoto explained that the interpretations might vary, but the core principles remained consistent. Lord Stark expressed admiration, saying, "Interesting! We northerners are honorable, and those are exactly what we stand for. Can I teach this Bushido to my son?"

Miyamoto proposed, "Of course, M'Lord! It would be an honor, but wouldn't it be better if I taught him myself?"

Rickerd, intrigued by the idea, chimed in, "You're gonna be my teacher?"

Miyamoto replied, "If Lord Stark allows it."

Lord Stark, visibly thoughtful, inquired, "It would certainly be a good experience, and I have no doubt that you're gonna be a great teacher. But the question is why?"

Miyamoto met Lord Stark's gaze and spoke earnestly, "I've heard about the Starks a lot, and I've also experienced it myself. So, I think that the fact we met in Wolfswood is fate. I would like to serve the Starks…"

[A/N: I have taken the code of samurais or the Bushido from a different fanfiction. it's in Webnovel too called

"Cyberpunk: Arasaka Secret Son." It's really good. Do check it out, if you haven't.]
