91 Victims

Once I stored my loot I headed back down to the wreck to see what other goodies I could find. The answer to that question by the way was not that many. I absolutely SCOURED the entire shipwreck at a surface level and only found three hyper potions , a money stash in a watertight bag , four full heals and an unhappy Clamperl that decided to shack up in the wreck. The Clamperl was mostly unhappy that we woke it up but otherwise pretty chill. 'Now I need to find whatever this treasure is that the system says is here.' I thought after getting more air.-

This was not a straight forward thing since despite opening any cabinets and containers I could find the system didn't count that objective as completed. 'There must be a hidden compartment , what a pain.' I thought as I resigned myself to finding this hidden treasure. I used every spot that I had seen in tv shows and novels from prying up the floorboards to tapping the walls for hollow spots. I even lifted the mattresses to check under them but it was a bust. I got slightly annoyed to be honest as I was running out of spots to check.-

Luckily my media knowledge did not fail me and I found what I was after in the hollow steering console of this ship. It was actually a pretty clever spot to hide stuff as it was large enough for that while also being important enough that anyone not wanting to scuttle the ship as they searched would leave it alone. Sadly for whoever chose that hiding spot I had sharp enough vision to notice that there were screws that did not belong there. They were painted over and pretty hard to spot normally but I was anything but normal.-

What I found in the hidden compartment however had me wishing I hadn't found it. There in the hidey hole was a total of seven plain pokeballs with metal cages on them to prevent them from opening that after I checked with the system made me a bit irritable. Each and every one of them had roughly the same information which coupled with the hidden nature of their location told me what I had found.

[Pokemon: Eevee(starving)

LEVEL:1

Moveset: Tackle(n) , Tail whip(n)

Variations: N/A

Ability: Run away or adaptability(N)]

Pokemon traffickers had been the ones who owned this boat and these Eevee were what they were transporting when it went down. Eevee were a highly coveted pokemon in this world and with good reason too as they could evolve into a pure type of any type in the world so long as they had the right stimulus. The problem was that this same uniqueness meant that they were very rare in the wild as they tended to evolve to survive their surroundings and the evolved pokemon guard their young fiercely. The league only allowed extremely vetted breeders to breed and sell the majority used by trainers.-

But a few of them were acquired via cruel methods such as slaughtering the parents and capturing the children to sell in secret to the highest bidder. The clues all pointed to this second option and that alone made my temper flare up. I might not be a saint but I had lines that I wouldn't cross and this covered several of them. I held the balls against my chest as I left the ship wreck and reached the rock Vulcan was waiting on. I carefully stored the balls in my bag before going to grab the Corsola that was making it's way to us.-

"Lets go back to the beach so I can make a call and deal with this situation." I said with a a frown. Vulcan could feel my irritation through our bond and chose not to complain about the swim on the way back. I was left to my thought during that time as besides the swimming I had nothing to distract me from them. I knew very little about how to treat pokemon in this situation but I knew a bit more how to treat people in similar states thanks to tv.-

The first rule is that you do not ever let the starving person eat a lot at once because it'll fuck their system up five ways to sunday. They have to eat a very small amount at first and only over the course of days to weeks does their diet go back to normal. The second rule is that the food can't be super rich as that will also shock their system for bad results. With these guidelines I quickly set up a few teacups and add half fresh water and half an oran berry that I reduced to mush.-

I was hopeful that the healing abilities of the oran would help relieve some of the suffering from the Eevees without being too rich for them to handle. Once that was prepared I went to work on getting the metal cages off the pokeballs. They were annoyingly well designed so it made forcefully removing them difficult but not impossible. The cages had several hinges that were stretched taut by the pokeball within that made any force transfer across the entire thing but at the same time the joints were also the cages weak points.-

It was hard but thanks to the Corsola having an acid based attack I was able to corrode the joints enough to allow Vulcan to shatter them one by one. I repeated this process on each of the pokeballs until they were free of the cages. 'Now for the tricky part.' I thought as I released each of the Eevee from their prisons. I had to suppress my emotions with my ability when I saw the weak brown furred forms with gaunt boney figures. The pitiful creatures whined in fear and pain as they sat on the ground limply.-

'This is needlessly cruel and foul , the ones behind this better hope i never find out who they are.' I thought as I took out a spoon from my bag and gently spooned some of the mixture in the cups into the mouths of the pokemon and massaged their throats to help them swallow it. I was patient and as gentle as possible while I did this until all of the mixture was gone since I had prepared the max I thought they could consume at once , it was a tiny amount to be honest.-

Once that was done I moved the small and frail things into the shelter while using my spare shorts as a soft bedding and had Vulcan lay down next to them to warm them with the heat his body naturally emitted. After ensuring that the Eevees were settled in I pulled out my pokenav and called Birch. It took a few moments before he picked up "Alex it's good to hear from you , to what do i owe the pleasure?" the man asked happily. "I need help." I say seriously and the line goes silent for a moment. "What is the situation?" Birch asked in a surprisingly stern tone.
