93 Chain quests

"You didn't actually give her my number right?" I asked and Birch scoffed "Of course not! She can wait just like the rest of the gym leaders for you to challenge her to get it. I did give Roxanne your number though." Birch said calmly. "Wait what do you mean the rest of the gym leaders?" I asked after noticing what was wrong with that statement. "Oh? Well you really lit a fire under them with your performance and got them all a little excited to see what other tricks you will pull out during further challenges."-

"You need to understand that despite getting many challenges per season very few of those are memorable since the trainers tend to use long established moves and strategies which as you can imagine gets pretty dull after a while. You showed not only interesting tactics but a move that they haven't ever seen before so they are understandably eager to face you and your team in combat!" Birch explain with a clear amount of excitement. "No use hiding a new move if it can give us an advantage." I said with a shrug , not that he could see it though.-

"That was pretty close to what Watson said actually. He said a trainer has to know when it was the right time to bare their hidden fangs. Speaking of what was that move if it's not inconvenient?" Birch asked and I wasn't surprised about it. It would actually be stranger if he didn't ask me about it. "It's a steel type move as you could probably tell but it was created by Gaia specifically so she could gain a type advantage against Roxane , we named it "wrecking ball" due to how it works." I said honestly.-

I wasn't going to explain how exactly the move worked since it will take more than a single situational use of it to figure out it's exact mechanics thus leaving it a dangerous move for those not expecting it. Not to say it wasn't dangerous , merely that once the move was thoroughly understood it became much easier to plan around. A good example was the overly used move hyper beam that had a cooldown after it was used. It was an extremely well known thing that this period of weakness after it was used was an ideal time to hit the pokemon with a heavy blow.-

In the same vein anyone familiar with the move will notice it's signs before it's used and have their pokemon avoid it making it risky in high end battles. But for wrecking ball the sheer unknowness of its mechanics might make an opponent cautious when they actually don't need to be. "I'll mark it down for the league but i don't suppose you would tell me how it works right?" Birch asked and I simply said "No." and he sighed "Yeah I didn't think so but it was worth a shot." Birch said casually.-

I ended the call shortly after that since there was no reason to keep it going and I still needed to find Mr. Brineys house. I decided to leave the shelter up since the Corsola seemed to take a fancy to it and I felt like it sort of deserved it with helping me find that ship wreck and the Eevees within it. I turned in the quest I got from the system and received five exp tickets that I immediately used on Rune. This brought his level up to thirty nine and gave him a huge headache in the process but it was worth it in my opinion.-

This way he will finally be able to spar with Gaia and Vulcan while also boosting his mastery of his moves greatly while adding Slash , discharge , light screen and thunder punch to the list of moves he knew. All the rest of his moves reached journeyman at the least and a few even got to adept mastery such as swords dance and thunderwave. From the quest I also eight item tickets which was by far the most I had ever gotten from a single quest so far. Speaking of quests I got to see the chain quest I got for rescuing the Eevees as well.-

To my surprise I had already completed the next step of the chain quest which netted me an ability ticket as well as the next link in the chain quests. I won't lie and say that I probably didn't look batshit crazy when I saw the next part of the chain quest , because I am pretty sure I did. After reading it over I couldn't help myself and started laughing out of seemingly nowhere which got a few concerned looks from my pokemon until explained it to them as well.-

After my pokemon heard what the last part of the chain quest was the air got heavy as they all showed their animosity and bloodlust towards the traffickers that matched my own. We redoubled our speed down the coast with this motivation and we eventually found the quaint little house with it's own dock and boat that I assumed belonged to Mr. Briney. "I'll let you guys out after we reach a spot that I can." I say to my pokemon and they nod though a bit upset at having to ride in their balls again.-

The house itself was a small two bedroom cottage made of wood and stone and after a careful look around I noticed that it was built in an area of the sea without much waves as well. I walked up to the thick wooden door and knocked "Thump thump!" the sound echoed through the door as I put a good amount of effort into it so that the door didn't muffle it. Soon the door opened and the old man behind it brightened up immediately after he saw me. "Ah! It's you lad , come in come in!" he said pulling me in the house eagerly.
