A Quirky New Life

Adrian gets reincarnated into the world of ‘My hero Academia’. Surprisingly, he is neither the main character, nor is he anybody at all. It turns out, he was reincarnated as a quirk of Izumi Midorya, a gender bent version of Izuku. With noting else to do, Adrian will help Izumi achieve any goal she sets out to do - from heroics to villainy. —— Hello, I hope you give this a shot. This is purely a procrastination work - I need to write and learn a speech, so I instead started to write a fanfic. A bit about this novel: I highly doubt that updates will be regular, but I’ll try my best. I tagged R18, because originally this was supposed to be a smut fic. But during the writing presses Adrian became a wolf and then a quirk on top of that. There will probably still be 18+ scenes, but the MC is a wolf, so… Other than that, I don’t have much to say. English is not my first language and I’m writing this on my phone, so please excuse me if some grammatical errors made it through.

Chapter 1

Adrian felt the moment it happened - it felt like a fog he didn't know was there lifted from his brain. And in the next, his tenure in the infinite void drifted away like a dream. And in the place of it were distant memories of his past life and newer ones - these ones seen from the eyes of a small child.

Adrian wasn't quite sure where he was, or had been for god knows how long, but he quickly started to piece together his faded memories - ignoring his surroundings as even his memories were overstimulating his mind. It took a good 15 minutes before he pieced together what happened.

It started when he died. Instead of his expected nothingness, Adrian was met with two holes and sighs above them. On the left sign 'Reincarnation with memories', the right one read 'Your personal paradise'. Adrian thought about it for several short seconds and jumped in the left one - it was not a hard choice.

It may have been the wrong one, though. Adrian didn't have a way to tell time there, but he spent, what felt like, years just falling, some times rising and occasionally spinning. Despair and regret were his constant companions at first, but after some time he just didn't feel like despairing anymore.

Armed with 'it is what it is' mindset Adrian accepted his choice and instead of letting regret and despair reign supreme - he instead spent that time remembering all the good times he had, creating stories and fantasy worlds inside his mind. And as they say, "time flies when you're having fun". The next moment Adrian is aware, he is looking through the eyes of a small kid and his mind is pounding with faded memories.

With his mind calmer, Adrian examined his surroundings. He was in a pitch black space, only a big opening giving him any idea what was beyond. Looking through the opening, he could see a blonde kid getting right up to the opening and pushing it back while saying something he couldn't hear.

It didn't take long before Adrian realised that the 'opening' were the eyes of another kid. As he was figuring this out, Adrian welt a warm tingling in his brain as knew knowledge appeared inside his mind.

Ignoring the weird sensation, Adrian looked through this new knowledge. It was mostly information on the world, a world he was vaguely familiar with. Adrian reincarnated into the world of 'My hero academia'.

It also became quite clear that he was not human anymore, nor was he some other being. Adrian became a quirk. The knowledge that appeared contained a basic description of his existence - in short, he was a sentient quirk that manifests as a wolf. As for the person that he is in, it is none other than Izumi Midoria, a gender bent Izuku.

Seeing as he was inside of her… soul, Adrian was also aware that there was a connection between him and Izumi, with a bit of concentration he should be able to talk to her telepathically. Now, the only thing that Adrian had to address were his desires - what he wanted from his new life.

As far as he could tell, nothing was binding him to Izumi. He can enter her soul and telepathically talk to her, yes, but unlike Tokoyami and his shadow - there was nothing preventing him from just leaving her and not coming back.

'But… where is the fun in that?' Adrian thought to himself as ideas of running away faded away. He was never one to back away from a challenge, even if it costs him his life - and with the possibility to be surrounded by beauties as the reward for simply staying, how can he go against his nature and turn away? Adrian is, was a simple man - desire was not a foreign thing in his life. 'And even if nothing goes in that direction, and with my new form it very well could not, the ability to see this action up close is a good enough reward.'

'Now' Adrian thought to himself, 'how do I preceded?'. Many thoughts flew through his head at a faster than he was used to rate. That caught his attention for a little while, and with his increased brain activity he quickly found the reason. As a quick, he was essentially connected with his holders abilities. It was not a physical connection, but his mind and body were proportionately strong to his holder. Of course, the opposite was true - the stronger and smarter he was so was his host.

With that distraction out of his way, Adrian began to focus on what he would do next. Of course, he could act as a fledgling sentient quirk and slowly 'grow' with Izumi. Adrian immediately dismissed that idea in the account that it would be exhausting to pretend for that long.

On the opposite end, being overbearing and sticking to 'I am better than thou' act would be doable, and Adrian was sure he could convince Izumi to follow what he said - Adrian was sure that it would backfire eventually. Be it if she met someone and asked for a way to get rid of him or if she had 'plot armour' and someone like All might would come and 'save' her from her 'villainous overbearing sentient quirk'.

Adrian is aware that it would be improbable that something like will happen. At least, if he was in his previous world. Now he was in a story and Adrian wasn't sure if this world went with the story logic where heroes always win in the end. In light of this uncertainty, Adrian is a bit reluctant to act overly villainously.

But that reluctance only went as far as overly villainous acts - making Izumi work to make himself stronger, controlling her life or forcing her to do things she doesn't want. That being said, if a few choice words and a bit of encouragement makes Izumi go from unwilling to eager - who could blame Adrian for that. 'Of course, some may call it 'manipulation', but I think 'suggestions' would suit it better' Adrian chuckled to himself.

Adrian shook his head - stopping the overly engineered plans flooding his head. 'I'm making this way too convoluted than it needs to be' Adrian said to himself. He knew the rough outline of Izumi's life, it wasn't too different from the original. With that as his starting off point, Adrian was certain that a bit of positive encouragement and praise will make Izumi value his input and suggestions.

Adrian focused on what he was seeing through Izumi's eyes just in time to see a fist fly straight bellow them. A few moments later he was looking at the passing clouds as little hands wiped his 'screen' from time to time. 'This is as good a time as any' Adrian thought to himself and focused on the connection between them.

——

{Hello? Are you alright?} Izumi almost jumped out of her skin as a voice whispered into her ear. She did instinctively roll away and stand up, looking around. "Who said that?" Izumi loudly said, not seeing anyone close to her. {Relax, I am a friend. You don't have to talk aloud, just focus and try to talk to 'me'. We don't want to attract more attention to you by you talking to air like a crazy person, do we?}

Izumi looked around and saw several kids and their parents looking at her talking to nothing, judgement clear in their eyes. Judgement that was nowhere to be seen when kacchan was beating her up. Izumi cleared her head of those thoughts and started to slowly walk back home, already feeling several new and old bruises aching as she moved.

{You didn't answer, who are you?} Izumi said in her mind. She could guess that it was some kind of quirk, but why would someone with a quirk be interested in a quirkless nine year old. {I am… Adrian.} the voice once again spoke, it still felt as if someone what whispering into her ear. Before she could speak, the voice, Adrian spoke again.

{As for what I am? As far as I can tell, I am your quirk} Izumi stopped in her tracks as she heard that. 'Adrian… is my quirk?' Izumi continued walking, her mood slightly soured. {Ha-ha. A funny joke. I know I'm quirkless, but you don't have to be mean. What do you want from me?} Izumi said, and started to climb the steps to her apartment.

It was obvious to Izumi that someone with a telepathy quirk was playing a prank on her - a really mean prank. She almost squealed of joy when she heard that Adrian was her quirk - she was glad that she stopped herself, seeing as the voice disappeared as soon as she called them out. With a sigh and new bruises she came inside her home and locked the door behind her. Her mom was still at work so she had a few hours of alone time to fix up her new bruises and several burns.

{I am sorry that I didn't say anything for a bit - I can tell that there is nothing I could say that would convince you I'm your quirk. But I do have have a physical form. I don't want to come out outside - it would attract attention and possibly get you in trouble. I'll come outside, okay?} Izumi heard the voice whisper again. Despite the negative feelings that she felt from this prank, these words did spark a small flame of hope. With a feeling of trepidation and excitement she said a quiet "Okay".

It took several long moments before something started to happen. {Sorry, it's the first time and I'm not completely sure what to do} Izumi heard those words but couldn't proses them. From her chest materialised a white wolfs head and soon the whole body fallowed. Izumi stared in amazement as a soft and fluffy wolf stood in the middle of her living room.

Her state of shock was broken when said wolf trotted up to her and rubbed their head on Izumi's hand. The wolf's fur was really soft to her touch, Izumi didn't even notice how she sat down on her knees and started to pet their fur. {I hope this helps convince you that I am your quirk. It may be difficult for you to believe, but it hurts a bit that my holder doesn't acknowledge my existence}

"Are-are you actually r-real?" Izumi quietly said in disbelief. Almost 5 years ago her life took a turn for the worse when she was declared quirkless. Not long after that her father went away 'on a business trip', her friends became mean and probably the most hurtful thing that fallowed that revelation was her and her mothers relationship becoming more distant year after year. Her mom didn't really talk about it, but from what Izumi overheard, Inko felt that it was her fault that Izumi didn't have a quirk.

{I am as real as you} Izumi started to feel her eyes burning as tears threatened to spill. {I am… sorry, that it took so many years for us to meet. I know these were some difficult years without me by your side} Izumi couldn't stop the tears even if she wanted. All she could do at the moment was hug the wolf by her side with all of her meagre strength and listen as a voice whispered variations of {Its alright, I'll be by your side}

——

Adrian looked down at the lightly snoring girl still hugging him. He smiled to himself. Turns out he could somewhat pick up Izumi's feelings - not enough to affect him, but enough to know the general state of her. He could've guessed that having a quirk would mean a lot to her, but he wasn't prepared for the river of relief and hope he felt through their connection when his existence sunk in for Izumi.

'Hahh… no plan survives contact…' Adrian thought to himself. He had many ideas of how things could go and what he should 'optimally' do next. But feeling the genuine emotions of Izumi, Adrian couldn't force himself to utterly betray her hopes and expectations. This wasn't some life or death mission where he had to do… not great things to make it through.

'Maybe… just being a good person will be enough this life…' Adrian thought to himself as he used his fluffy tail to cover up Izumi's exposed legs so she isn't cold. 'Yeah…' Izumi thought as he passively picked up Izumi's positive emotions, 'settling down and living the easy life beside a person who I can unconditionally trust doesn't sound so bad' Adrian was… content.

In his previous life he didn't have a real possibility to simply… enjoy his life. He was too good at his job and too competitive to simply settle down and not respond when he was challenged. His competency and competitiveness made him known all across the world, but at the same time it left him nothing to come home to - anyone who talked to him was a potential person who could stab him in the back.

For a first time in a long, long time, Adrian fully relaxed and focused on the soundly sleeping girl. In who knows how long, Adrian didn't have anyone looking for him - trying to hunt him down for either glory or revenge. That, along with the love he felt radiating from Izumi and the knowledge that he has safe, let him finally close his eyes and drift away into peaceful slumber, a soothing nothingness.
