It Wasn't Necessary

As there was still time till her appointment time with Sam and Susan, Anna opted to take a walk around Roy's house and at the same time let the servants know the time she would be leaving for her appointment so they could get the car ready before then.

---

Roy got into his office around 8:30 and managed to have a brief meeting that lasted for thirty minutes with his heads of department before walking into his office.

Just as he settled down behind his desk, the vibration of his phone drew his attention at the same time Charles walked into his office.

"Sir, Miss Anderson has been trying to reach you. She said you are not answering your calls."

Roy picked up his phone from his desk and nodded, "I got this."

Charles nodded and turned around to leave. Meanwhile, Roy let his phone ring for a long time before he finally answered the call.

Placing the phone on his ear, he did not utter a word and waited for the person at the other end to answer.

"Roy, what is this I'm hearing about you? Just a few days of being unable to reach me and I hear you are married?!" Becca questioned, sounding astonished.

Hearing that, Roy was unfazed. He didn't care that his girlfriend was furious at the moment because he was equally unhappy with her.

He looked into the distance and thought for a bit before retorting, "I guess your father can be counted upon to break this kind of news to you."

"Are you trying to blame my father right now? If he didn't tell me what was going on, I would have been left in the dark! And you, don't you have any explanation for me? How do you think you can be dating me and go ahead to marry another behind my back? Do you think this is fun?"

Roy remained unfazed by her raging emotions as he went on to cross his legs. "I finally know how to get your attention. I should just do outrageous things and then sit and wait for your call. Who knows, I might be having a baby the next time."

Roy's taunts were not in any way funny to Becca was huffing mad at the other end. She couldn't believe that her boyfriend was capable of stooping so low.

"Roy, are kidding me right now? You had better get a divorce before I return because the stunt you just pulled is not part of the plan. I get you are trying to punish me for not giving you the attention and I thought you would have been understanding of the situation."

It was at this point that Roy uncrossed his legs and sat up. "Becca, you know I hate threats the most and since you have decided to push my buttons first things after we are able to talk after a long time, get ready to deal with the aftermath."

As soon as he finished saying his piece, he ended the conversation and picked up his telephone to dial a number.

"Come in," he instructed before putting the phone down with a big frown on his face.

In less than a minute, Charles knocked once on the door and walked in. "Sir," he said as he approached Roy's desk.

"Reach out to Zane. I need to know if he has found anything regarding the tip-off I forwarded to him," Roy instructed while looking serious.

Charles let out a soft sigh. He did not immediately leave since he knew what the tip-off was all about.

"Sir, are you sure you want to go through this?" he asked, despite knowing it wasn't his place to question his boss's decisions.

Roy met his gaze and released the folds on his forehead. "The streaks have been consistent. I can't take that anymore, and It's good that she is coming back."

Charles let out another soft sigh and bowed before leaving to deliver the message he was instructed to.

On the other hand, Anna finished sight-seeing Roy's villa before requesting a bottle of cold drink while sitting under the shade outside.

Soon, a servant came out to serve her fruit salad. "Ma'am, this fruit salad was made with watermelons, banana, cucumber, and apples and mixed with sweetened condensed milk. I hope it's to your liking."

Anna glanced at the bowl before lifting her head with a smile. "Thank you." Then the servant bowed her head slightly before turning to leave.

Anna had understood the reason she mentioned the content of the bowl. It was just in case there was a fruit or something else in the bowl she did not like or react to.

"Everyone is so professional around here," she observed.

With the premium treatment she has been receiving since Roy came into her life, Anna didn't have to be so sad after remembering the big betrayal from her best friend and boyfriend after talking on the phone with them.

"I really have to thank God for this opportunity and the cheating couple too, but theirs will have to come later after I am back to my team. I don't care how long it takes me to take my place."

Anna already knew that getting back to the national table tennis team was going to be very difficult since they had obviously replaced her a week after her accident. But she didn't mind any of it as she was ready to fight her way through.

Anna enjoyed herself for a bit before going back inside to get ready for her appointment. And as she didn't want to dress shabbily, she took her time trying on three different outfits before making her finally pick.

After that, she took care of her hair and applied minimal makeup before picking up her bag to go downstairs where one servant was already waiting for her.

"Ma'am, the driver is waiting outside for you," she announced before proceeding to lead the way.

Outside, Anna saw the Mercedes parked in front of the house and almost stumbled on her steps.

'That expensive car was arranged for her?' she just couldn't believe her eyes.

Yes, it was true that she was going to confront her enemies, but sitting in that car wasn't necessary.
