14 Impromptu Meeting

As soon as Anna sent that message to Sophia, she logged off. But within a minute, a call from an unregistered contact came on her phone.

The ringtone was distracting enough to cause Roy who had been silently working on his laptop to turn his head in her direction.

Feeling the gaze on her, Anna mouthed 'sorry' before turning her gaze away to swipe her finger across her phone's screen quickly.

"Hello?" Her tone sounded unsure, a façade for the confused woman at the other end.

A momentary silence took over before Sophia spoke. "Anna, it's Sophia. You asked me to call you."

"Oh! Sophia! Thank you for calling." Anna's tone sounded surprised and relieved at the same time. "I know we are like strangers, but I have a favour to ask from you."

"A favour?" Sophia's brows furrowed slightly. Although she was aware of who Anna was, it was still surprising to be asked for a favour since they were strangers.

"Yes, a favour. Can we meet right now?" Anna inquired and then waited for a reply.

At her right side, Roy lifted his gaze once again. 'Didn't I tell her that she was going to tour my place today?'

Roy wouldn't have had anything to worry about if there was still time today, but evening was already upon them. There will be no time left for her to visit his private residence after meeting with the person on the other end of the phone.

"Please let's talk when we meet at…" Anna finished giving away the address for a coffee shop that was only ten minutes away from her current location and thanked Sophia before ending the call.

A soft sigh escaped her lips, but when she felt the heated gaze on her, she turned her head to the side.

It was really awkward being stared at so fiercely by the man she had just married. From the looks he was giving her he was clearly offended.

"What?" she mouthed as her brows constricted in a frown. She was confused.

Roy held her gaze for a moment before shifting his attention back to his laptop. "Seeing how you made an appointment with someone else at this time, it seems like you will have to tour my place some other time."

"Ah!" Anna's eyes rounded as her palm quickly flew to her mouth. "I-I'm so sorry…" she stumbled over her words, her gaze resting on the side of his face. She had long forgotten about the previous agreement she had.

Two minutes passed and Roy did not even say another word to Anna. The latter had to clear her throat and quickly throw in an apology.

"… Can I tour your place tomorrow instead?" she suggested, in a bid to appease him in case he was mad at her. What she didn't know was that Roy did not really care, but he was never going to tell her that.

It would be good if she continued to maintain some discipline around him.

"It's left for you," Roy answered indifferently.

"Um…" Anna reasoned for a while before turning her focus back to him. After thinking for a while, she discovered that she would need help locating his place.

Truth be told, she was a little reluctant to ask for his help in case he found her disturbance irritating.

"How do I find your place?"

"Charles will call you in the morning. If you don't change your mind about going, he will send a car to pick you up."

Surprisingly, Roy was able to give a detailed response, contrary to what Anna had thought.

'Looks like he is really sensible,' she thought to herself.

"There is no need to send a car. I can take a taxi. I only need the address."

Hearing that, Roy inhaled sharply before slowly turning his gaze to her. Roy was so annoyed with her disturbance that he couldn't keep quiet anymore.

"Do you like suffering so much?" he inquired.

Anna wondered what sort of question that was, but when she guessed the reason he asked the question in the first place, she shook her head. "I just don't want to trouble you."

"You are my wife," Roy said immediately. His meaning was clear. She was not a slave to him and since he chose to marry her, naturally, he will treat her well.

But as soon as those words reached Anna's ears, her gaze widened. As different thoughts entangled in her mind, Roy's next statement immediately cleared up the confusion.

"Immediately abort those ridiculous ideas. Since we have a mutual agreement, you should be treated well."

---

Roy ended up dropping Anna off at the restaurant she mentioned to him before continuing on his journey.

Anna waited for twenty minutes at a round table in an inconspicuous spot at the café with a dark shade over her eyes before a tall pretty lady with bangs, came to her table.

"Anna Lee?" The woman raised a questioning brow while leaning over. Because of the dark shades that almost covered half of Anna's face, it was a little difficult for her to make out her facial features.

Sophia smacked her lips just in time to finally get an answer from Anna. "Yes. Please have a seat," the latter said softly

As Sophia sat down, her gaze did not leave Anna even for a second. She took in the younger lady's appearance and felt a change in her aura.

The last time she saw her was almost a year ago and her dressing style was shabby. But that was understandable for someone who was blind and couldn't take proper care of herself.

"Thank you for acknowledging this impromptu meeting. I am really grateful," Anna said as a polite smile hung on the corner of her lips. She could tell the other woman was really curious about her.

Hearing that, Sophia's gaze landed on the dark shades that made it difficult for her to tell what Anna's eyes looked like behind them.

"You look like you needed my help," Sophia said while putting her expensive black purse on the third seat at their table. "Are you with someone or did you come alone?"

Sophia was not sure about Anna's sight, hence the reason she asked those questions, but who knows what Anna's response would be?
