Chapter 5 - Toya Lake's Secrets

[Knock down 3 masked fighters and get 3 points.]

Quinn picked up the Toya Lake from the ground. Kevin first observed the surrounding area and approached after confirming that there were no other accomplices. He collected the guns on the ground in plastic bags, as they were all evidence.

"What? You have a clear understanding of the chaos in Gotham, right? This is just an appetizer."

Quinn's eyes gleamed brightly. "That's really unfortunate. I can feel more dangerous enemies lurking behind this. My hands are starting to tremble."Ā

If this is just the beginning, Quinn dared not think about what would come next.

He had once considered using donations to earn points, but unfortunately, the system had limitations. It didn't require Quinn to do good deeds himself; instead, it depended on the target and timing.Ā

For example, if the Flash was hungry, there would be points rewards for treating him to a meal, but that opportunity didn't present itself all the time. In theory, if Quinn had enough financial resources to support the entire Justice League, he could receive a steady stream of points.

It was a pity that Quinn's surname was not Wayne, and he still had both parents. Achieving that kind of operation could only be imagined in a dream.

Kevin made a preliminary hemostatic bandage for the two masked men who were shot and fell to the ground, preventing them from bleeding to death. The road was still blocked, and the ambulance couldn't get through.

"Tell me, who is your boss, and why do you want to block the road?"

The masked man looked at Kevin indifferently and remained silent.

"For a stubborn bastard like you, we have a mature plan." Kevin pouted. "Quinn, let me demonstrate it to you."

"It doesn't need to be so troublesome; I can handle this with Toya Lake."

Quinn slowly drew the knife and made a gesture of accumulating power to lift up, causing the man to subconsciously tighten his legs.

"Black Mask! He's the reason why Black Mask made us do this, and he didn't tell us!"

The man spoke without hesitation, and a set of high-speed oracles puzzled Kevin. Looking at Quinn's handsome face, he wondered if he had gained some weight recently or become paler, as his intimidating power was not as great as this newly recruited young man's.

"But Black Mask's subordinates all wear masks." It wasn't the first time Kevin had dealt with Black Mask, and he was very familiar with his criminal style.

"We live in this neighborhood, Black Mask temporarily hired us. Poor Tommy, he is dying." The man sobbed and covered his face with tears.

"I've bandaged him, and he won't die for a while." Kevin felt that the man wouldn't reveal any more information, so he planned to escort him to the car first.

"Wait," Quinn stopped Kevin, "Aside from the black mask, have you seen any noteworthy people coming and going in the past two days?"Ā

The man quickly recalled, and his eyes widened sharply. " Yes! The Poison Ivy. I saw her the day before yesterday. A few people who were not afraid of death went to strike up a conversation with her, and they were buried in the ground on the spot."Ā

Quinn and Kevin exchanged glances; it seemed that this matter was not trivial.

They moved the remaining three unconscious men into the car, making the already cramped space even tighter. Luckily, the engine was undamaged, and Kevin successfully started it. He initially planned to take the person to the hospital, but when he looked up and saw Quinn absent from the car, he sighed and took off his body armor, throwing it to him.

[Name: Kevin's Body Armor]

[Type: Armor]

[Quality: ā˜†]

[Defense: Weaker]

[Attribute: Refraction]

[Special Effects: None]

[Description: A dilapidated body armor, representing the old policeman's broken heart of protection.]

"Be careful, I don't want to see young people off."

Within less than a day of knowing each other, Kevin had already figured out Quinn's character and knew that nothing could persuade him otherwise. So, he wished him luck.

Quinn put on the ill-fitting body armor, nodded to Kevin, and left.

Quinn's gun wasn't equipped with a muffler, and the gunshots from earlier had echoed throughout the street. He was prepared to face a single enemy, but strangely, the street fell silent, and there were no black-masked people in sight.

Apart from the unusual quietness, Quinn couldn't detect anything else suspicious. The whole situation was quite abnormal. What was the point of the black mask blocking the road?

Suddenly, the ground shook. Quinn steadied himself by placing his hands on the ground. Everything around him trembled. Several gaps appeared on the road. Fortunately, the shaking only lasted for about ten seconds before stopping.

The earthquake was caused by the black mask?. Numerous thoughts raced through Quinn's mind. Not far away, a fire hydrant exploded, and the water jet sprayed out more than ten meters.

This was just the beginning. More water pipes burst, and groundwater gushed out from the cracks in the ground, creating a water curtain.

Quinn put the pistol into the system space to protect it from moisture. A blue figure flashed behind him, and Quinn turned his head as if sensing it, but he saw nothing.

"We meet again, boy."

Captain Edward stood amidst the water curtain, with a hint of surprise on his aged face. He thought he and this young man would never cross paths again after the ship left, but unexpectedly, they encountered each other so soon.

"Mr. Edward, I don't want to pursue what happened earlier this morning. Were you responsible for the earthquake just now?"

Edward must be no ordinary person to be able to escape from the police siege and lead the crew.

Edward glanced around as if searching for something. "I don't think I need to answer your question."

He opened his arms, and the surrounding water gathered into a powerful water column. Quinn couldn't dodge in time and was sent flying by the water column.

"Cough, it feels like being hit by a locomotive."Ā

In truth, Quinn didn't suffer too much damage; he was hit sideways.

Two ribs were broken in one hit, and this was even with him wearing body armor. Quinn was well aware of the gap between himself and Edward, but he didn't loosen his grip on Toya Lake.

At this moment, he is possessed by White Yaksha.

"I'm asking you something, stop for me."

Quinn lifted Toya Lake on his shoulders, put his left hand on his ears, and his eyes became lifeless fish eyes.

Sensing Quinn's entirely different aura, Edward looked at Lake Toya.Ā

"It's a magical item; you're not an ordinary policeman."Ā

"Shut up," Quinn said weakly, staring with his lifeless eyes.Ā

"I suspect you're involved in the damage to the underground pipeline. Show me a certificate with your identity information. Quickly!" The lifeless eyes suddenly turned sharp.

"Overestimating one's abilities."

Edward didn't take Quinn seriously and raised his hand to release a jet of water, but it was instantly broken and didn't hit Quinn, who was now behind him.

Quinn covered Edward's vision with water splashes, dodging the jet with a low-profile move, and Toya Lake stabbed upward obliquely, hitting the *ahem* vital point precisely.

Quinn smirked.

Edward, who had always maintained a high aloofness, stared wide-eyed. No man could endure such pain.Ā

Edward couldn't even stand, let alone maintain composure and continue casting spells.

Quinn's approach was very Gintama-esque. A magician, huh? Then let me restrict you physically. If you still have the will to fight despite the pain, Quinn is truly impressed.

"I'll ask you again, are you connected to this incident? Not going to talk? Very well, you have the right to remain silent, but anything you say will be used against you in court." Quinn took out the handcuffs and prepared to restrain Edward after cleaning Toya Lake's blade.

The severe pain made Edward's mind go blank. Just as he was regaining his ability to think, he wanted to curse, but he couldn't even speak now.

A sharp stabbing pain came from his back. Quinn's eyes were fixed, and he swiftly rolled to the side like a prophet.

"Dodge that! Do freaks with superpowers like to gang up now?" Black Mask appeared with a group of "masks" under his command. Seeing Quinn successfully evade the bullets he fired, Black Mask became highly intrigued by him.

His marksmanship wasn't bad, though it still had some distance from "DeadShot", but not many people could dodge it. Furthermore, Quinn had his back turned to him. Did he have eyes in the back of his head?

Black Mask raised his hand and fired again. Quinn's pupils constricted into sharp points, and he blocked the bullet with Toya Lake.

"Hmph, with so many people here, it seems I can't leave without using my secrets."

"Secrets?"

Black Mask's eyes froze. He hadn't witnessed the battle between Quinn and Edward, but he was certain that Quinn was incredibly dangerous. After all, Quinn dealt with Edward without getting hurt, and that man single-handedly defeated half of his men.

If it weren't for Edward causing trouble, there wouldn't have been a need to block the streets. The fewer people witnessed what was happening, the better.

Quinn adjusted his position by pacing slowly, Toya Lake slightly lowered. Black Mask looked solemn; was Quinn going to make his move?

In the next second, Quinn turned his head and entered the nearby alley.

Profound meaning: Let's Scooby doo out of here!

The men on the other side had submachine guns, and Black Mask possessed mind control abilities. It was impossible to fight them head-on. Quinn wasn't foolish; all his bluffing was for the sake of this momentā€”escaping.

When Black Mask regained consciousness and led his men into the alley, all he found was a fleeting figure disappearing from his sight. Meanwhile, Edward, who had been lying on the ground like a salted fish, suddenly stood up and vanished into the cracks in the ground, leaving Black Mask and his men baffled.
