The Wait

Yesterday, Luna and I had visited Maemont in hopes to find Kaede. We couldn't find out where she was, but I did manage to send a letter. She's an adventurer so I'm sure she will get it eventually. We still had time left so Luna and I decided to have dinner at a restaurant in Maemont before heading back to the academy. I guess you could call it a date, and it would of been if not for the sudden appearance of Kaede, so we kept things friendly between us.

Today however was the second day of the weekend with classes starting back up again tomorrow, so we decided to go check out the Inasdale Adventurers Guild for our free time, Luna as usual, clinging to my arm as we make our way towards the guild.

Ellen: "You sure you know where the guild is?"

Luna: "Mhmm! Nick talks about it from time to time, so I know more or less where it is."

Pretty unconvincing, but it wasn't like I had a better idea where we were going. My heart has calmed down a lot since yesterday, knowing that I've sent that letter. We had no idea where she was so it was the best chance we have.

Ellen: "I wonder if she sent a letter back already"

Luna: "Don't get your hopes up. It might take a couple days. We can always check during the weekends."

Ellen: "Yeah you're right."

I was just getting impatient, but how could I not be? It's been over 15 years since I last seen her, so of course I'd want to see her as soon as possible. I was worried about Luna though. She was initially sad enough to be brought to tears when we found out about Kaede, but now she is smiling away during our walk to the guild. I would imagine helping your crush find their lover would be heart breaking.

Ellen: "Hey, Luna. How are you happy?"

Luna: "Huh?"

Ellen: "I mean like. Happy in helping me with this Kaede thing. Aren't you mad? or sad?"

Luna: "I was... but we're best friends. And I feel like I've stolen enough time away from her. So if it is the same Kaede from your old world, of course I'll be sad, but you're important to me. I wouldn't want to selfishly take you away from her. That's how I feel."

She shot me a bright smile as we walked. I still felt bad, I knew the pain of giving your love to someone only to be denied. It happened plenty of times growing up in my old world that it baffles me that I got that close with Kaede. I guess Luna still likes guys too, so her options aren't as limited as mine. If Kaede and I ever meet again, I'll do anything to see Luna's love life be fulfilled.

After 30 minutes of walking around, we had found our way to the adventurer's guild. The size of it was massive compared to Maemont's, appearing to have 3 stories with people coming in and out though the double door.

Ellen: "Looks completely different than the one in Maemont"

Luna: "Well we are in the capital, but I agree. It is quite big."

We make our way inside, as the sounds of people chattering echoed throughout the room. Visually, the inside was different. There were still tables around but it didn't look like people were eating on the first floor that we were on. There are stairs on both sides, leading up to the second floor, so we made our way up there, where we saw a diner. Seems like they had an entire floor dedicated to serving adventurers, leaving the bottom floor for jobs and other things. The stairs continued up to what I would assume are the rooms people can hire so without bothering people, we make our way back down to the first floor.

Lady At Desk: "Hello, what business do you ladies need?"

Ellen: "Yes, Uhm are there any letters addressed to Yui?"

Lady: "Do you have your card with you?"

Ellen: "Yes"

We approached the desk, handing her my guild card as she confirms my identity before checking to see if there was any letters in the drawers next to her.

Lady: "Sorry, there doesn't seem to be any letter for you. Are you expecting any?"

Ellen: "Not really. I sent a letter to a person so I'm just wondering if they responded yet"

She handed me back my card, as I put it back in my bag.

Lady: "Ah, well letters don't get sent on this day of the week. If they sent it yesterday then you should be able to see it here by either tomorrow or the next day. Depends if there are any delays."

Tomorrow would be when our classes start back up, so I doubt we could find time coming all the way out here. Unless we run our way over here or take a ride-

Luna: "Thank you. We'll stop by again soon"

Lady: "Take care~"

Luna now dragging me along with her as we make our way out of the guild.

Luna: "We can come back tomorrow then?"

Ellen: "What about classes? Maybe waiting for the next weekend would be better"

Luna: "Nope! We're coming back tomorrow. We know where the guild is now so it won't take as long next time."

Its true that we did spend a good chunk of our time aimlessly walking around a general area where Luna thought the guild was until we found it.

Luna: "Plus you can't keep Kaede waiting right?"

Ellen: "Mmm!"

I always ask myself how I managed to find someone like Luna. I'm so grateful we became friends, as I don't think I would of gotten this far without her.

Luna: "And also... I'm curious what she's like. Your lover..."

She giggled away as she said that, making fun of her situation. The thought of Luna meeting Kaede reminds me when Shin found out my relationship with Kaede, so I can't help but laugh along with her.

It was now just past noon, as we made our way to a restaurant to have lunch. Luna had ordered herself a lemon cake with a glass of iced chocolate to go with it. She was the gluttonous type, but her figure was still thin... except for her breasts. I wasn't jealous how she had developed more feminine than me, as I was happy with my more modest, elegant appearance. When it came to my order however, I ordered a vegetable soup with a glass of water. It was a bit cold this morning so I wanted something hot to warm me up.

Luna: "Did you want some of my cake?"

Ellen: "Sure"

She cut a piece of the cake with her fork before extending her arm to me like she was going to feed me herself. I accept her offer as I didn't want to upset her, eating the piece of lemon cake from her fork with Luna having a smile on her face.

Luna: "Like it?"

Ellen: "Mhmm! It's sweet yet tangy. I love it"

The taste actually reminded me of when my mother in my old world used to bake for us, but we never had the idea of making lemon cake. I wonder what it would of tasted like is she were to make it.

Luna: "You thinking about your past life again?"

Ellen: "How'd you know?"

Luna: "You always make the same face when your mind wanders off"

We laugh together while we continue our meal. I never realized that I made a face when I thought back on my past. I'm glad Luna was the one I told my secret to. I feel like I can be completely transparent with her.

After our stop at the restaurant, we made our way back to the academy before it gets dark. We still had plenty of time, so we decided to go to the training area to practice my magic. However there were people already students there, so it would be hard to experiment with my magic with many eyes that could potentially see.

Luna: "Maybe we can do it in our room?"

Ellen: "Magic isn't allowed in the dorms though."

Luna: "Who cares. As long as we keep it small and in control, I think we'll be okay."

Ellen: "Mmmm~ Okay"

If its Luna's water magic, I'm sure it wont be as damaging as fire or earth magic. So with our minds made up, we head back to our dorm room before moving some things aside to do the experiment.

Ellen: "Keep it small okay"

Luna: "Kay~"

She created a small water ball in her hand, before gently throwing it in my direction. I have gotten the hang of using this weird magic as I easily stop it mid air. My theory is that my little amount of magic in my body is being sent out to attach itself to other magic, sort of like the fungus that takes control of ants back in my old world.

Ellen: "Can you try and take back control?"

Luna: "I can't. I have no control over it anymore"

We had figured out that once I took control, there was no way to gain it back.

Ellen: "Try throwing another one at me"

Luna: "You sure? Okay~"

I prepare myself while still maintaining control of the previous water ball before Luna throws another one at me. The water ball I was controlling started to shake as I try to stop the other one, but I successfully managed to stop it without breaking concentration on the other.

Ellen: "YES!"

Luna looked excited while watching me in control of the water balls. I join the both of them together to form a bigger water ball as a thought popped in my head.

Ellen: "Hmmm"

She looked curious at what I was thinking before I suddenly fire the water ball at her. She couldn't react in time as the water breaks on impact, drenching her clothes. The look of her pouting face was too cute that I can't help but laugh.

Luna: "Meanie"

Ellen: "We were going to take a shower anyways. You can hop in first if you like"

Luna: "Fine~ I'll let you off this time. I'll be out soon then"

She goes to get a change of clothes before making her way to the bathroom. I found myself enjoying her company more and more as the days went on ever since I told her about my secret. It feels great to not hold back anything, and just enjoy my time.

Ellen: "Thank you Luna"
