It Started with a Cry

A outpour of water, a flash of lighting or perhaps a mysterious light. Those are the things that usually marks the opening to the protagonist's story. But, we will not begin with that because our protagonist is not a heroine in the common sense. She is just a slightly unusual girl.

A few minutes walk away from the busy city streets is a house surrounded by trees. The shadows of the trees hides away any light that managed to slip through the gaps. The green house and red roof with the brick chimney is a oddity amongst the other houses in the block, but one cannot see the house from outside the trees.

"Uwaahhhhhh"

The loud noise coming from the second floor of the house easily stirs the woman awake.

"Not again.." groans the woman as she speedily gets off her bed and walks hurriedly to the room next door.

The woman has long black hair with a touch of brown. Although she is not too tall, her thin stature and small face makes her seem taller than average from afar. Her cat shaped hazelnut colored eyes, narrow nose and oval shape face is plain but pleasant to look at. The dark circles

points to the recent lack of sleep.

She reaches for the crib inside the darkly lit room and stares at the source of the noise. Within the crib is lies a slightly chubby baby girl. Her round eyes and straight nose is a contrast to the woman's but even so the resemblance is apparent. Seeing that the woman has opt to do nothing but stare, the baby widens her mouth and cries again.

The woman helplessly sighs and reluctantly carries the baby, hoping she'll sleep for what seems to be the million time today.

After getting her wish, the baby slowly quiets down and stares back at the woman cradling her in her arms. The sense of familiarity calms her. She knows the woman is her mother they live in a place call home.

Our protagonist whose currently a baby is attempting to stay awake by glaring at the littler ballad swirling above her crib. Needless to say the battle ended consecutively in her lost.

She doesn't know why falling asleep always result in her waking up crying with a empty feeling in her heart. Her only memories beside living in those house with her parents, siblings and grandfather is the black space. The black space existed before she was born into the world. It's clear to her now that the light that suddenly already in the black space was what bought her here. Over time her memory fades as she grows up.
