The beginning of tragedy

Time is flying by here. It's been five weeks since the first day of school, and I feel like I'm actually getting better. My control of my ability is better, and the power of it to. I've also been training with a teacher, privately, she has taught me martial arts and even swordplay. I've upgraded now.

I checked out my phone, seeing a message from Shield Barrier.

"We got our talent cards today. Send me a pic of yours, then I'll send you a pic of mine."

"Okay." I text back.

I walk outside and check the mail, I do indeed find my talent card, and I take a quick look.

Yes! I have a talent level of an S, which means I have the highest talent level you can get, I wonder if anyone else got an S?

I quickly jog inside the house, grab my phone, and text a picture to Shield Barreir, Dark Alley, and Mr Teleport.

Yeah, it's weird. Myself, Shield Barrier, and Dark Alley started hanging out a lot, and Mr. Teleport and Dark Alley are very close friends, so after introducing him to us, he joined the group.

I noticed that almost immediately, they all texted back.

I texted everyone, saying. "You're all awesome."

"You are too." Shield Barrier text back.

"Dang straight." Dark Alley says.

"It's not as good as I want it to be, but I can still save people." Mr Transport says.

I shut my phone off and lay it down on my bed. I hurried to the kitchen, quickly making myself a pb&j.

Today, we have a special event. We will be working as actual heroes. We have special permission from someone in power to take out villains. Normally, we would be required to have a license.

This event is sorta like a field trip, but it's so important that school was canceled today.

I quickly finish up my sandwich and head towards where we're supposed to go.

I walk into a warehouse, which to me is extremely sketchy, but I suppose my opinion doesn't matter. Not only is it sketchy, but it also doesn't fit 310 students, not to mention the teachers.

The warehouse has a stage in which all of the teachers are currently standing on. A person who I recognize as the principal walks onto the stage and stands right in the middle, facing all the students.

"Hello, students of Hero Society. As some of you know from maybe watching me on TV or just hearing about me in general, I'm your principal. My hero name is Starstruck. Anyways, enough about me today is all about you. As you may know, today will be your first act as an actual hero, so to speak. You will be watching over civilians, and if you come across any villains, take them down, obviously not permanently, but knock them out or restrain them. Now, anyone in this building with a very strong or destructive power, all I ask from you is if you just don't hurt any civilians, please. now, let's wrap this up. You will be gathering into a team of five. After this, go ahead and leave. Pick a spot to scout, but never leave any of your team members behind. And before you all head out, us heroes will be watching you. Goodluck!"

Myself, Shield Barrier, Dark Alley, and Mr. Transport immediately walk to one another.

"Okay. obviously, we were going to be a group, but we need one more." says Shield Barrier

"Who though?" asks Mr. Transport

"Someone who can scout. We have two people who can attack a villain, one person who can protect a civilian, and one person who can teleport a civilian or us away if needed. We just need someone who can see when something bad is happening." I say.

"Oh, seriously, I know, someone we can ask then."

Dark Alley quickly says.

Dark Alley, after making the comment, immediately disappears.

"Who do you think he'll get?" Shield Barrier asks

"He'll find someone good." I say. looking straight at Mr. Transport.

"He always does."

Minutes later, Dark Alley is walking towards us, with someone walking right next to him. This person doesn't wear a mask or anything to cover her face. She has long brown hair that reaches the bottom of her waist. She has very calculated eyes that are as blue as the ocean.

"Hello. My hero name is Reckoning. I'm sorry, but I don't believe I've met any of you besides Dark Alley here."

Shield Barreir quickly says "Oh I'm so sorry for not introducing myself, I'm Shield Barrier."

"I'm Mr. Transport, remember it, darling." Mr Transport tries saying in a very cool way, but it manages to sound exetremly cringy.

"And I'm Disrupt." I answer

Immediately, she locks eyes with me.

"The same Disrupt that made better grades than me in the mental exam?"

"I guesse."

"Can you explain to me how you made better grades on a mental exam than someone with 1,000 iq?"

"I do-."

"I'm just playing. I was having a very bad day, and it affected my exam grade dramatically, but it's still impressive, I'd say my iq at the time was around 235."

Dark Alley interrupts me from answering her back. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we are the last group here, and I think we should probably go before the whole exam ends."

"You're right, I'm sorry, but before you guys start running off, I recommend we start at the east side of town. It's more common for robberies because of the scarce amount of work there." Reckoning quickly says.

We all agree and make our way there. While on our way there, Reckoning asks us about our abilities, and she makes us leave no details absent. When we get there, Reckoning comes up with a solid plan.

"Okay, so I'm going to give you all earpieces, put them on whenever. I want all four of you guys to be on the ready, especially you, Mr. Transport. When I say go, I want Mr. Transport to teleport everyone down there."

She points at a woman who is wearing exetremly expensive stuff.

"She appears to be waiting for a bus, but she isn't aware of the extreme number of robberies that occur here. She is most definitely going to get robbed with all that expensive stuff on her. Now you saw this coming Shield Barrier, but you will be the Shield for the civilian. Now, Disrupt and Dark Alley will be fighting the villain. I want everyone to listen to their earpieces, just in case anything bad happens. Everyone understand what they're doing."

At once, everyone says, "Yes ma'am."

I'd say a good 25 minutes has passed, and it's starting to rain, little droplets flying past us.

"Go!"

Immediately, I get teleported in front of the women. I turn my head to see a man running full force at us, with a knife. Dark Alley holds his palm out, pointing right at the man, then he closes his palm. The shadow that is illuminated by a street lamp wraps itself around the man. He falls face face first into the ground, and his knife slides across the pavement.

"Behind you!"

I hurry and turn around, but see no one. I look over at Dark Alley and see him get tackled onto the ground.

Dark Alley is about 20 feet away from me, I turn my head wondering if Dark Alley's ability turned off because of the lack of focus on it. It did.

I smash my hand on the ground, aiming for the knife, I try to make a big crack that is very intricate. Cracks shatter the ground all the way to the knife. The knife falls into one of the many cracks.

I turn, running full speed at the man that is now beating Dark Alley to death. I tackle him, wrestling with him all throughout the hard concrete road. Eventually, he manages to overpower me, and he immediately starts hitting me over, over, and over again, I hold my arms up to protect myself, but when I do he starts attacking my stomach, all of these punchs, for some reason is hurting a whole lot more than they should be.

all this pain, I can't take it anymore. I scream in pure agony. "BREAK!!!"

I touch his fists that are coming down to attack me, and instantly, blood splatters all over my body and face.

I lay completely flat, looking up at the dark clouds that are now pelting down rain.

I whisper to myself, "Break."
