1 Start

I wake up on a hammock in a little shack with a single room and a tarp hanging over a hole in the wall acting as a door. After getting up and promptly falling onto the floor I try to remember exactly what is going on, and I remember dying and being brought back.

The reincarnation process was a bit interesting basically I get thrown into a random world in the multiverse to either be reborn or very rarely take over an existing body. It seems I ended up with the latter, but hey there is some good news due to losing a couple years, and the fact that you basically take over a corpse of a recently deceased the powers that be decided to throw in two boons if you get the second option they are entirely random but I'll take anything at this point.

After doing some introspection I begin to recall who this is or I guess who I am now. My names Rayleigh Kern I just turned thirteen, and it seems I've been reincarnated into the wonderful world of One Piece. "Fuck!" I exclaim after realizing how screwed I am. Between pirates, corrupt marines, and slavers this world is all kinds of dangerous. "God please give me something decent I'm certainly going to need it." I tell myself, but all of a sudden I know what I've been given.

"Well thats convenient" I say as I begin to think about what I've got. Well I've got a high spec body that has potential to be powerful if I work at it. Its not game breaking but with enough work and proper eating habits I might be able to put up a fight against some of the minor pirates in blues, but if I end of fighting one of the supernovas or even a high end blues pirate like Arlong I'm probably screwed. The second boon is a bit more interesting, its apparently locked in a little chest underneath my hammock. Not sure how I missed that when I woke up, but ah well lets take a look. I pop open the chest and lo and behold its a Devil Fruit! Now I'm not sure what the power is but considering it was a boon to help me survive in this hell hole of a world I'm willing to bet it won't be the Rat-Rat fruit or something. At least I hope not, but the question is do I want to risk it. Eating the fruit will give me some kind of ability but I'd be giving swimming on a world that is predominantly water with Islands and one mountainous landmass. However, all I got with my other boon is a strong body, and I'm not sure if its going to be enough on a world where being raided by pirates is the norm.

"Ah to hell with it lets see what happens." I say as I take a bite out of the gray pineapple looking fruit with swirls. "Ack! That is by far the most disgusting thing I've ever had." I almost vomit the damn thing back up, but by some luck manage keep it down. I already feel my body changing I guess a single bite is enough. I finally know the name of my fruit it just pops into my head not sure if it was because it was a boon or if it happens to everyone who eats one. I've eaten the Sugi Sugi no mi a Paramecia type devil fruit. Well its not a logia but hell if this doesn't provide some sick abilities. I raise my hand and it starts to produce a silver-gray like substance. "Sweet I can make mercury well that's pretty sick after putting in a little more focus my hand takes on a full silver tint rippling like a liquid would. "Hell yes!" I exclaim It seems I got myself a special paramecia similar the Mochi Mochi fruit. With enough practice I can make parts of my body into mercury, but it seems like I can't turn all of my body into it and even doing more than one limb takes a lot out of me. I can work with this an above average body (One Piece Standards), and a powerful devil fruit I might be able to make something of myself if I can do this right.

I sit down and begin to think where am I, and what I am going to do in the near future. I've got some memories from the kid I've taken over. It seems he got sick, and was running a high fever but didn't make it. I'm currently in Orange town well not in per say on the outskirts in a little hut. It seems like my predecessor was an orphan that did some odd jobs around town to get by. The people here are nice enough, and occasionally gave him some food or the odd beri but no one is interested in taking in a 13 year old.

"Well crap." I mutter. It seems like I'm gonna have to find some way to make enough beri to get by I wonder if there is somewhere I can find some work. Other than the moving some things at the dock, and doing some dish washing for the local restaurants I've got no real contacts in town. Based on the story it seems I'm directly in the path of the straw hat pirates for the buggy fight, but the question is how long I've got and whether I want to try and join them on their crazy adventure. Don't get me wrong I loved one piece, and Luffy was funny as hell as a character in an manga/anime but in the real world he's an idiot that eats more than ten people. Do I really want him as my captain? Well I sure as hell don't want to be a captain being in charge of others just isn't me, but that also begs the question do I try to maintain the story or go a bit off rails.

"Hmm. Screw it If I don't manage to get off of the island by the time Buggy comes along I won't make a scene until The Strawhats get here, but everything after that is up in the air" I exclaim. after all I want to see if I can develop some of the six powers or even haki, and hiding things isn't something I'm good at I've always been an open book which isn't going to change. I never really considered joining the marines because while It would probably be a pretty cool option with proper trainers to teach me how to fight I just can't get behind the fact that they work for the Celestial dragons, and serving those creepy slavers draws the line. A mans got to have some standards, and slavery just isn't right. Well I guess that just leaves what I'm gonna do until they get here, and its pretty simple get some Beri's from working somewhere or fleecing some mobsters/pirates that stop by using my devil fruit, and train to see how far I can get before cannon starts. Well no time better than now lets get right to it!
