Chapter 19

“No running away. None of that rubbish. I can tie you to the bed if necessary.”

Kyle gaped, expression one of shock, and, as Mason stared back, he recalled what this man had been through—abducted, thrown in a cage, tortured, and left to die a slow, painful death. Mason forced a smile and a wink to make the other man relax. Uncertain he succeeded; the grin felt more like a grimace on his face. So much for not caring. This wasn’t just sex. Kyle needed to feel human again. Was that why he was here? Sex—and Mason’s acceptance of the state of his body—might provide the man with more healing than Maguire’s drugs. “Kidding.”

“Not completely.”

“No,” Mason admitted after a pause. He spoke in jest, but the notion was not so easy to dismiss. The idea of having Kyle at his mercy on the elegant antique bed appealed more than Mason liked, making him uncomfortable. He should order Kyle out of the room before he did something they both regretted.
