Gamers. Gamers! Gamers? Part 1

"Pardon?"

I asked in confusion, not expecting May to ask me to play a game with her

"I don't really like going outside much... So why not just hang out through a game?"

May then sent me another emoji. A smile emoji this time.

" Have you heard of Heavens Chosen?"(This game does not exist in real life btw)

May then mentions a pretty familiar game to me.

"Isn't that a fighting game?, a pretty popular one at that."

I tried to recall what the game was about, so "fighting game" came to mind when I thought back on it.

"Yeah. Its a fighting game. And I got into it a few years ago when it was new"

I was surprised at that statement. Typical gender stereotypes don't apply to this girl apparently. May plays fighting games huh.

"So besides being a fighting game what else does the game offer? And what is it about?"

I want to ask May some questions about this game.

Interested about why it was popular and even May is reccomending we play it.

"Welp. Considering you're Sine and you do Sine things, I was guessing you just play sandbox games for hours and hours or something."

May hit the nail on its head with this assumption. It was kinda scary how much she can guess my interests so quickly.

Is she some sort of natural social person that just got put down and turned out shy?

I keep those thoughts for later. As it was not the time.

"You... Pretty much have it narrowed down... So can you answer my first question about it.."

I replied back after some thought. And May went on to type for a few minutes, a huge ass wall of text.

"Heaven's Chosen is a platform fighting game reminiscent of Sm*sh, Br*Walhalla, and etc. It has a ranked mode on 1v1s and 2v2s, its pretty much on every platform, from console, to mobile, and PC with a large player base that's still growing to this day."

May then further explained the game's rules and how it worked to me, and I can kind of get it. While she explains the game I just install it on my phone for now. And I may install it on my PC if I like it too.

"And so that's it. Now download it."

She then sent an image with a commicaly large chibi with a gun pointing at me

"I already did while you were talking"

I then sent her a screenshot of me having it in my app library already.

"Great. Make your account and just add me. My Ingame name Is Evony."

I then, was dumbfounded. May actually used her real surname as her ingame name? That's concerning.

"Uh.. I'm going to make my account wait a moment"

I then go through with the registration process. I use my email for gaming and decided on my Ingame name, and my password.

"I'm done, my Ingame name is Secant"

I just used a name that is also tied to the trigonometric functions, as my name Sine is also from there

"Ho, ho,ho. So you have such a creative username too.."

May then mocks me for my choice of username, adding a skull emoji to her message.

"Says the one with her ingame name being her fucking last name"

I mock her back also adding a skull emoji to my message to mimic her.

"... Whatever man, touche' lets just go on voice call."

May then called me and I accepted.

"Yo Sine. Accept my invite and lets do a test game."

May then invited me to a custom game. A 1v1

I joined her lobby and I choose a random character called "robot"

"Heh. You choose a pretty strong character on your first try"

May then commended me on my character choice. Which was reassuring for me.

"But that is a pretty hard character to use though."

She has picked a male character. Reminiscent of a ninja, her character has the ninja attire but white instead of the usual black.

"Here I go"

May's ninja then goes for my robot and slashes me, not knowing the controls yet I fall of the map in an instant.

"....."

I just stayed silent for awhile with a dispondent face, because of May. Just literally having no mercy on a newbie like me.

"Don't worry about it. We have infinite lives here."

I then come back with max health on the platform and May just continues the conversation.

"Just get used to the controls a bit. And I can be your punching bag after you get used to them.

I just replied with an ok, and began to do random things with my character. Reading their kit and trying out the combos.

"Hmm I'm getting the hang of it. Can I try out some combos I thought of on you?

May then just sends a thumbs up through the ingame chat. Not bothering to talk

I then obliged trying out the combos that I thought of and May was impressed with my creativity.

"Hey those combos are pretty nice. Pretty good for a newbie."

May's compliment made me make out a thanks. And I continued to practice the combos until I felt comfortable using a few.

"Lets do a spar. I'll go reset my HP."

May then jumps off the map. Dying and respawning with full hp.

"I'll hold back a bit. And lets play some 2v2 unrated after."

She says so with a cheerful tone through the voice call.

"Well then. I reccomend practicing blocking, I'll do it slowly then I'll speed up."

May then hits me with slow and predictable attacks. I block them effortlessly and May is amazed.

"Sheesh Sine, already so good at this, I'll speed up bit."

May's speed increases and her complexity in the combos are getting harder to predict. I could still block it with a bit of trouble. But so far still manageable.

She continues with this speed for a few minutes and I started to feel like I'm getting used to it a bit.

"I'm getting a bit used to it, lets go for a faster speed."

May agrees. Thens speeds up her attacks, which I now barely block.

"How about trying out dodging too after the next speed up."

I thought about it, and that sounds reasonable enough.

"Sure. Lets just continue this pace first for a bit longer though"

May then sends a thumbs up and continues this pace for a few minutes again. Until I thought I was ready for learning how to dodge too.

"Ok May. I'm ready."

I steel myself to her speed up, but may makes a completely different move.

"Ok here I goo---- Dodge This~"

She then uses a skill, instead of a basic combo, and I got hit with the unexpected skill.

"Jesus, atleast give a warning.."

I then said with a surprised tone. But I see her character's stance that is about to use another skill.

I predict the trajectory and parry the attack.

"Oh damn Sine you could parry that? I'd have to get a bit serious then. And also lets just make this a full on spar already... No ultimates ok?"

I then agree. Now going in for an actual fight.

"I only play this casually nowadays. And I don't have any matches with this character, so I guess its a bit even."

I just continue to focus on the fight, while May plays and talk simultaneously.

I attack. Dodge, and hit her with skills for a few minutes. Until

"Yah"

I say out loud, kind off cringy but i felt it at the moment. And hit her with a skill

"Heh"

But May then chuckles like an evil master mind. Then she parries my skill, hits me and I get sent off the map.

"SEND OFF"

The screen says. I look at my phone screen dumbfounded on how May parried my attack.

"Hahaha, I waited for that attack"

She then says. With a amused tone to her.

"Sheesh. Good game that was fun.."

I take a look back at our practice and fight.

"It was fun."

I genuinely smile for the first time while playing a game.

"But seriously man you got talented for this game."

May then compliments my skill at the game. Despite me being a new player.

"Instead of unrated 2v2s lets do some rated 2v2s. My rank is the lowest in it still. Cause I don't have any friends to play it with. So lets go.

May then makes a lobby and invites me to the 2v2.

Yeah. This is going to be fun.

Hey guys. Author here. Its kinda weird to make a fighting scene on a novels that's supposed to be a slice of life, but eh. It's in a game... And by the title yeah. There's going to be a part2 and its gonna be all about fights in the game. Cause I want to practice on this novel on fighting scenes in the future. And of course if I improve I want to revise this chapter and the next chapter after I write this one.

Let me know your thoughts on the fighting scene. Its bad not gonna lie, just rereading through it. But I don't have experience in writing one so yeaaah.

And also, the Sine status is a idea just gone through my head. And Its random so far and doesn't really have a meaning yet. Help me out in giving it meaning XD.

And oh yeah. Before writing the next chapter of the novel I reread the last chapter and proofread it. So I kill two bird with one stone, fixing the grammarical errors while reminding me of the past events. So the last chapter is now a lot better grammar wise. So yeah...
