I'm sorry that I wasn't able to release a chapter this weekend, I had to see my grandpa because he isn't doing too well and I just got caught up But I'm back now and I hope you enjoy the chapter, and yes if you can't tell there's gonna be some major drama. The starry night and the beauty of what they had just watched may have gotten to them as Cindy and James slowly leaned in their lips just inches apart until they connected once again in a kiss that was far more tender and loving than the last kiss they shared. The two eventually broke apart panting with a smile adorning both of their faces.

James opens his mouth to say something to Cindy when a hulking blur dashes in out of nowhere and sends him flying. The massive blur was revealed to be a man with a slim athletic build standing at about 6'2 with glowing red eyes, long slicked-back black hair, and gothic-looking clothes. He turned to Cindy and gave her a small smile before sending her flying with a punch. He smiled menacingly before flying in the direction of James.

Morlun landed 4 buildings away to see James's body embedded in the building's ac unit. He walked carefully over to the young totem relishing the fear that radiated from him.

James stood there completely paralyzed as a million thoughts raced through his head 'What's Morlun doing here so early in peter's career as spiderman' 'How am I supposed to defeat this monster by myself". With both his mind and body paralyzed Morlun had free reign to walk over to him and begin to absorb his life force. James sat back unable to do anything as a partially visible aura was being leeched off his body by Morlun. As he was about to just quietly accept his fate Morlun was interrupted by Cindy who smashed him in the side with a street light.

James was snapped out of his trance as he saw how desperately Cindy was trying to fight against the superior might of an inheritor. He decided that he wasn't gonna sit back and watch idly as Morlun kills him. With his mind finally clear he lunges himself at Morlun slashing his chest with his talons. The talons left deep gashes and marks in his snow-white flesh.

"So you bleed just the same as the rest of us"

James was feeling the rush of adrenaline as he faced off against Morlun, one of the most formidable villains he had ever encountered. He had gained a slight edge on Morlun, but he knew that this was no ordinary foe. The two exchanged blows back and forth, the sound of each strike echoing through the abandoned city streets. James could feel the sweat dripping down his forehead as he slashed at Morlun, his claws enhanced with electricity. He felt his talons tear through Morlun's flesh like soft butter, and for a moment, he was certain that he had the upper hand.

But then, everything changed. Morlun grabbed James and slammed him into the ground with a strength that was at least twice what he was capable of just seconds ago. James felt the impact reverberate through his body, and he struggled to catch his breath. He could see Morlun cocking back his fist, and he knew what was coming. With lightning-fast reflexes, James summoned all of his remaining strength and pushed himself out of harm's way just in time. Morlun's fist punched straight through James and into the rooftop below, spraying crimson blood everywhere.

James gasped in pain, feeling the life force draining out of him. But he didn't give up. With the last bit of strength he had, he summoned his electric powers once again, channeling them through his claws and into Morlun's body. Morlun screamed in agony as the energy overloaded his system, causing him to writhe in pain not wanting to miss his chance he ran over to Cindy

"Cindy take my phone and text peter and Gwen to tell them to meet me at 5th street QUICKLY!"

Cindy slightly shivering takes his phone and jumps off the roof to go get help.

James turned back to Morlun whose body had stopped spasming. He gritted his teeth letting out a small grunt and he too jumped from the roof and into the streets below. He shot a web and started swinging as fast as he could outrace the extremely angry inheritor. His wounds were aggravated every time he swung but he knew that he had to keep going and keep moving to stop him from catching up.

Despite his best efforts Morlun eventually caught up and sliced his web causing James to fall out of the sky and into the slightly empty new york streets, instead of panicking he simply adopts a diving position as he falls to the asphalt below with Morlun hot on his trail flying at inhuman speeds James knew that he had to time it perfectly or else he would be another spider on a dinner plate. At the last possible second James shoots a web at a nearby building at less than a foot to the ground. He slams into the side of the building and dislocates his shoulder and Morlun carried by the force of his flight crashes into the street at breakneck speed unfortunately not only did he not break his neck but he had become even more furious.

"YOU WRETCHED SPIDER I WILL FLAY YOUR FLESH AND DRINK YOUR INSIDES!"

The people in the street watch in confusion and horror as they see a strangely dressed man yelling at the side of a building after he fell out of the sky. A woman approached Morlun to see if he was alright, unfortunately, her life force was absorbed by Morlun to heal his injuries. The lady dropped to the road with no signs of life behind her now hollow eyes.

Morlun launches himself back in the air and quickly catches up to James who had a slight headstart. he trails just behind him swiping at his back in an attempt to send the spider tumbling once again. However, at every turn, James is managing to just barely outmaneuver Morlun.

They keep up the consistent cat-and-mouse game until they make it to 5th street where James was finally tackled out of the air by Morlun. The two tumbled out on the street where Morlun and James stand in a Mexican standoff both fully prepared to fight, after a minute of silent staring Morlun made the first move hurling a car at James. James seeing the approach of the car shoots two webs at the car flipping over it and launching it right back at Morlun. Morlun is momentarily pinned between two cars and James takes that moment to hit him with some more electrically charged punches. First two then four 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 he loses all sense of rationality as he just pushes his body to keep punching even though his hands may fall off he refuses to stop hitting him.

Eventually, James ran out of steam and Morlun who was only slightly injured by James took advantage by grabbing the young hero and slamming him into the ground. When his body was slammed into the asphalt Morlun lifts his head and bashes it over and over into the asphalt staining the road red. His frustration and anger were at a fever pitch as he wanted nothing more than to torture the impudent whelp who dared to waste his time and cause him so much trouble he raised Jame's head to smash him into the ground once more when...

he's slammed from behind by New's own Friendly neighborhood Spiderman!

"Hey man the twilight fan convention's tomorrow" quipped peter as he tried to draw Morlun away from James. The inheritor happily obliged as he flew over to Spiderman.

As peter drew Morlun away Gwen approached James whose face was more bruise than face and whose body was a tapestry of half-healed wounds and broken bones.

"James, are you alive?"

James let out a small groan to let Gwen know that he was okay. She reach down and picked him up attempting to take him to the hospital when she hears another grunt

"f-figh whim pwease, peta isss tost" (Fight him please peter is toast)

Managing to slightly decipher her friend's warning she was concerned about the monster that they were facing. She dropped him off on a nearby rooftop and swung to where peter had taken the fight to help.

'I have to help them somehow'

James was forced to sit patiently for 35 minutes until he had regenerated enough to rejoin the fight. Finally, he was able to stand on two feet again despite the wave of pain that accompanied the slightest twitch of his body. He jumped from the roof swinging as fast as he could to the direction of the battle.

James landed in the heart of the battle only to see Gwen and peter lying on the ground defeated with their costumes ripped. He was surprised to see an older man with messy grey hair and a grey beard fighting with Morlun.

James tried to help but it seemed that it was too late as Morlun broke both the man's arms before smashing him into the ground. He leaned down to leech the man's life force when he was grabbed by someone and taken into the air. James had one last-ditch idea on how to stop Morlun and that was going to require everything he had left.

James dropped Morlun at a construction site a few blocks from where his friends were laid out. Before Morlun said anything James made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

"Take my life force and just mine and leave the others alone!"

Morlun considered it for a second before smiling though his demonic red eyes did nothing to convey happiness or satisfaction.

"We have a deal spider"

With the real struck Morlun walked over to James making contact with him before he started slowly leeching his energy. Morlun was enraptured by the unique taste of his energy that he didn't notice that James had locked him in a bear hug.

Morlun only noticed when he felt the same tingly engulf his body as he finally opened his eyes to reveal James channeling all his bioelectricity through his body releasing it in a massive explosion. Jame's entire body glowed as his human form disappeared in the waves of orange and yellow electricity.

Despite the agonizing death, he was facing Morlun never let out a yell or a scream until his presence in the world was nothing more than a bad memory.

Peter and Gwen stir awake as they see another person unconscious where Morlun used to be.

"I'll check him out you go find James"

Peter nodded at Gwen before swinging off to find where their friend was he was blinded by a great light that was coming from a few blocks from he was. He swung in that direction as he felt that the light was somehow connected to the man he and Gwen were fighting earlier. He landed in the remnants of a construction property only to find the charred husk of Morlun...

And James.

This chapter was in my head for so long and initially, I was just going to hold off and wait but I feel that this plotline makes sense for the character because for the most part he's been screwing around instead of trying to cope with the real threats that are going to constantly be posed against him and the rest of his new home in the marvel universe.
