A New Life In How To Train Your Dragon

Like many books about reincarnation. This is a story about a young man reincarnating into a world filled with Vikings and Dragons. Let's see how he survives in this new world full of dangerous beasts and men. Disclaimer: The only things I own are my OCs and this story. This is my first story on here. If you don't like it, don't read it.

This Is Berk

This is Berk... it's twelve days north of hopelessness and a few degrees south of freezing to death… it's located solidly on the meridian of misery. My village, in short, is sturdy. It's been here for about seven generations, but every building here is new. We've got fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problem here… is the pests.

*A dragon swoops a sheep off the ground*

You see most might have mice or mosquitoes but we have…

"Dragons…" A young girl says, quickly slamming the door of the house before a dragon could cook her alive.

You see, most people would probably leave, but not us, we're Vikings, we have stubbornness issues. The young girl runs out of the house dodging an axe as a Viking falls out of the sky.

My name is Hicca, an awesome name I know but… it's not the absolute worst. Parents believed a hideous name would frighten off gnomes or whatever, like their charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that.

Stumbling around, Hicca falls on her back after a dragon's blast catches her off guard, sending her to the ground, Vikings running around her in a frenzy.

"AAGGGRHHH! Mornin'!" A Viking screams in her face before running off.

Getting up she runs off somewhere as multiple Vikings tell her to get back inside, or out of the way. Running towards some stairs she almost gets toasted by dragon fire before a large man grabs her by the collar of her vest.

"Hicca! What is she doing out aga-?! What're you doing out?! Get inside!" He said, pushing her away.

That is Stoick the Vast, chief of the tribe, they say when he was a baby he popped a dragon's head clean off its shoulders. Do I believe it? Yes, yes I do.

"What have we got?" Stoick asked a Viking beside him.

"Gronkles, Nadders, oh, and Hoark saw a Monstrous Nightmare."

"Any Night Furies?" Stoick asked as a dragon blast blew up a house behind him.

"None so far."

"Good." He said, flicking a piece of burning debris off his shoulder plate.

Hicca ran through the village before she finally reached the blacksmith.

"Oh nice you to show up. I thought you'd been carried away." A large Viking said to Hicca as she grabbed a few weapons to repair.

"Who me? Nah I'm way too beautiful and strong for their tastes. They wouldn't know what to do with all… this." She said, flexing her arms.

"Well they need something to pick their teeth with don't they?"

The meathead with a mouth and interchangeable hands is Gobber, I've been his apprentice along with another ever since I was little… well little-er. The battle continues to rage in the village as dragons continue to attack the Vikings and burn down houses.

"Fire!" A Viking yells, motioning someone in the distance to come over to come over.

"Alright, people let's go!" A blond-haired young Viking girl yells to some others as they rush to put out the fires before they can spread.

Oh, and that's Fishlegs, Snotlout, the twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Astrid, and my one and only friend, Eugene.

'Why do they get all the cool jobs.' I thought to myself. My face was in my hand as I watched them putting out the fires from the window opening of the forge.

Eugene and the rest of the other teens began putting out the fires. Finishing putting out the fires Eugene felt as if someone was burning a hole through his head. Turning around he saw Hicca staring from the forge before being yanked back inside by Gobber.

'Ugh, lemme go make sure she doesn't do anything stupid.' He thought as he ran toward the forge, dodging dragons and dragon fire, as Vikings scrambled around the battlefield. Managing to make it to the forge, he stops before overhearing the conversation between Hicca and Gobber.

"Oh come on, let me go, I need to make my mark." Hicca said as she struggled to get free from Gobber who held her above the ground with his hook hand.

"Oh, you've made plenty of marks… all in the wrong places."

Crossing her arms Hicca made an annoyed expression, "Please, just give me a few minutes and I'll kill a dragon, my life will get so much better."

Placing Hicca on the ground Gobber spun her toward him as he began to list off things that she had failed to do. "You can barely lift a hammer, you can't swing an axe, you can't even throw one of these." Gobber said as he picked up a pair of bolas before they were snatched by a Viking who then threw them at a Gronckle.

"Okay fine, but this baby right here will throw them for me." Hicca said, walking over to a bola launcher that she'd made, tapping it as it suddenly activated, launching bolas at Eugene.

"Woah! Hey! Hicca!" Eugene shouted furiously, barely dodging the flying bolas.

"Sorry, Eugene!" She yelled, turning back to Gobber.

"See this right here is what I'm talking about!" Gobber yelled as he pointed at the contraption. Hicca tried stuttering out some words before being shut down by Gobber.

"Hicca if you ever want to get out there and fight dragons you need to stop all… this."

"But you just gestured to all of me…" Hicca said, slouching a bit.

"Yes, that's right, stop being all of you."

Before they could continue with the conversation the sound of snickering was heard beside them before Eugene came into the forge as he walked up to Hicca.

"Hey, it's not so bad Hicca at least you're safe… well as safe as any Viking can be." Eugene said, patting her on the shoulder.

"Oh, you sir are playing a dangerous game, keeping all this raw Vikingness contained. There will be consequences!"

"I doubt that." He said, ruffling her hair. They then look over to Gobber who grabs a sword, abruptly handing it off to Hicca.

"Sword, sharpen, now." Hicca groaned as she went to sharpen the sword.

"Don't take it to heart Hicca, you'll have your chance to shine, you just have to wait for the right moment."

"Thanks, Eugene." She said as a smile appeared on her face as she wondered how she had such an awesome friend like him. They laughed a bit before hearing a loud screeching noise as someone began to shout.

"Night Fury!"

"Get down!"

*BOoOoM!!*

Onlookers watched one of the watchtowers get blown to smithereens. Gobber looked out the forge before he replaced his hook hand with an axe hand and put it on before turning to Hicca.

"Man the forge Hicca, they need me out there." He said, walking towards the door as he turned around again. "Watch her Eugene."

"Will do." Eugene said as Gobber dashed out the door waving his axe hand in the air.

"You're not going to stay put are you?" Eugene rhetorically asked Hicca.

"You know me so well Eugene." She said, grinning widely as she took the launcher she'd built and ran out the door.

"She's going to get herself killed..." Groaning, Eugene quickly grabbed a shield and rushed out of the door after her, wondering if she was crazy.

They ran across the village dipping and dodging, until they finally reached the far edge overlooking the ocean. Hicca then began to set up her bola launcher.

"Come on, give me something to shoot, give me something to shoot." Hicca mutters as Eugene watches from behind her.

It took a few minutes, but the Night Fury finally made another attack.

*BOoOsH!!*

It was only for a moment, but they saw its silhouette flying away. Taking this chance to take the shot, Hicca shoots her launcher as she's sent flying back from the recoil. Helping her up, Eugene and Hicca quickly look up into the sky only to see the Night Fury crashing toward the Earth.

"I hit it? I actually hit?! Yes, I hit it! Did you see that Eugene!" Hicca yelled as she jumped in excitement

"Sure did, but now might not be the time…" Eugene said, getting his shield out.

"Why?" Hicca inquired before a Monstrous Nightmare snarled behind her. "Oh... that's why." She nervously chuckled.

"Run!" Eugene yelled, pushing Hicca in front of him as he blocked a blast of dragon fire, before chasing after her. They ran through the village, dodging the dragon's blasts of flames.

As they continued to run, Eugene spotted a large pillar a few feet in front of them. Grabbing hold of Hicca he pulls her toward him before ducking behind the large pillar, right as the dragon fired another stream of flame-like lava at them.

Approaching the now charred pillar the Monstrous Nightmare prepared to strike again, however, before it could attack Stoick jumped out, kicking the dragon's face away. It roared in anger, before attempting to blast him with fire, only able to spew out a sorry excuse for a flame.

"You're all out." Running toward the dragon, he punches and kicks it before it flies off. Turning towards the pillar it falls to the ground, exposing Eugene shielding Hicca, as the top of said pillar begins rolling through the village.

Letting go of Hicca, Eugene stepped to the side, letting Stoick approach her. Hicca looked toward the rolling top of the pillar after their little fiasco, as it tumbled down some stairs, crashing into dragons caught in nets, releasing them.

"Sorry, Dad." She said as they stood there watching as dragons left with livestock, Eugene stared straight-faced.

"Ok, but I hit a Night Fury." Hicca says before Stoick snatches her by the vest.

"Oh, but it's not like the last few times Dad. I mean I actually hit it this time! You guys were busy and I had a very clear shot. Eugene saw me shoot it down. It went down just off Raven Point. Let's get a search party out there and-." Cutting her off before she could continue to explain, Stoick yelled.

"Stop! Just, stop. Every time you step outside, disaster happens. Can you not see I have bigger problems to face? Winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed." He said, waving his arms at the destruction and Viking surrounding them.

"Well between you and me the village could do with a little less feeding don't you think?" Hicca awkwardly joked.

"This isn't a joke, Hicca, you could have been killed, Eugene could have been killed." He said, pointing at Eugene. Hicca looked over at Eugene, a guilt-ridden expression ran across her face as she turned back to her father.

"Ugh, why can't you follow the simplest orders?" He asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"I-I can't help myself! I see a dragon and I just have to kill it. It's who I am, Dad."

"Oh, you are many things Hicca… but a dragon killer is not one of them. Get back to the house…"

Hicca looked down with a defeated look, wondering why she was always the one to be blamed for every mishap that happened.

"Make sure she gets there. I have her mess to clean up." Stoick told Gobber who stood next to Hicca.

As the two began leaving the area Eugene watched from the side, thinking to himself. 'I'll have to watch her more closely from now on.' Eugene thought as he continued to watch them leave.

I'm still figuring out how to change POV. If you all have any tips it'd be much appreciated. Also be sure to give powerstones to help recommend my fanfic to others.
