The Game-Like World

While we were on our way to the village, I decided to ask Amy a few questions about this world.

From what I've learned, Raemia was a fantasy based world with magic and monsters. Also, there were other races aside from humans.

There were Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, Beast-folk, and more. I also found out that the races are at war with each other.

I remember Zerris telling me about that War of the Gods thing, but since it didn't involve me, I didn't really care much.

At first, I thought that I was involved in that war because I was supposedly going to be Zerris's Champion. That is until I was told that Zerris only chose me because I was interesting.

So, the reason I'm in this world wasn't because of this stupid war, but the fact that Zerris found me amusing. I'm not sure whether I should feel flattered or not.

Anyway, once I got a little more information about this world, I decided to change the topic and talk about Zerris's blessing. That's when I learned something interesting.

When I asked Amy about the Blessing, she told me to check my skills on Status Menu.

From what I know about skills and statuses, I think she's talking about something from a game. Like your level, class, age, and other stuff you would see in a video game.

I was a little intrigue, so I asked how I can access it. Amy told me to say "Self Appraisal" to see it.

"[Self-Appraisal]" I chanted, and immediately after, a status window appeared in front of me.

This was what was shown to me. I was amazed by how similar this was to a video game.

After looking at my status for a little bit, I came to an understanding of my current abilities.

Right now, I was currently level one. I guess that's to be expected since it would be uncanny if I started out with max out level or something.

I was a little curious about why my Class was [None], but I'll leave that for later.

My current stats was something that I was not expecting, though. Since I was level one, I thought that my stats would be ten or fifteen.

So, this was either the average stat for beginners or this was probably due to Zerris's blessing. Speaking of which, I noticed that I have something called a Special Skill.

It was called [Zerris's Blessing]. At least it's straightforward.

I didn't exactly know what this Special Skill was capable of until I looked at its description.

[Zerris's Blessing]: A blessing from the Goddess of Darkness. Allows the User to break the laws of this world. Levels and stats are faster to raise, skills can be obtained with a single action, User has all magic abilities, and the user was resistant to all status ailments.

. . . Huh?

What kind of cheat skill is this? I knew that Zerris chose me out of curiosity, but what drove her to give me such an ability?

Just what is that goddess thinking?

While I kept staring at my status, Amy called me out.

"Is something wrong, master?"

"Not really, but I'm a little confused about Zerris's blessing."

"Like what?"

"Like why she would give me such a cheat-like skill."

I found it really hard to believe that Zerris gave me this skill out of the goodness of her heart. She's got to be planning something.

"Mother has been known to do unexpected things. That's just one of her many traits," Amy explained.

"Still, though. Isn't this a little much?"

"If mother gave you her blessing, then it's for a reason. You just have to figure out what it is."

Is this her way of saying she has no idea why Zerris did this, and I should figure out myself?

Forget it. If Amy doesn't know why then it doesn't matter at the moment.

I'll figure it out when I'm out of my current situation. And that's what to do right now.

Amy said that there's a village close by, so once we get there, I'll plan what to do next.

In the meantime, I should figure out more about my abilities and my status.

So, while we were heading to the village, I kept examining my status to see what else I was capable of.

Aside from the Special skill, I also have regular skills too. They were [Appraisal], [False Status], and [Detection].

[Appraisal]: Allows the user to appraise someone's status and items. Any and all False Statuses will be revealed to show the true status.

Hmm, this [Appraisal] skill will definitely come in handy. If I'm up against an enemy, I can check their status to see what abilities they have and how high of a level they were.

That reminds me, what's Amy's level?

Curious, I decided to use [Appraisal] on her.

"[Appraisal]" I muttered.

When I did this, I was shown Amy's status.

Geez, Amy's status is out of this world. Her class was [Magician], and she's able to use a lot of magic abilities.

I also noticed that she has the same skills I had which were [Appraisal], False Status], and [Detection]. Just how powerful is she?

Considering her level was question marks, it just shows how powerful she is. I'm surprised that she's capable of this, though, she is Zerris's daughter, so I'm not that surprised.

While I was snooping at Amy's Status, she spoke.

"Master, if you wanted to see my status, you could've just asked."

Huh? How was she able to know I was checking her status?

Was it one of her skills? The only skills that I think that would warn her about something like this would be [Detection].

What does that skill even do?

[Detection]: Has many traits. Allows the user to detect any living thing, even with [Conceal]. Sees the flow of mana, and also warns the user when [Appraisal] has been used on them.

Well, I guess that explains how she knew. Since Amy and I have the same skill, that means I can also know when [Appraisal] is being used on me.

Also, what's [Divine Magic]? I thought that would be in regular skills, but it seems to be in Special Skills instead.

That must mean that it's far more powerful than regular magic, right?

Speaking of which, since I have [Zerris's Blessing], I can also use magic as well. I'll have to ask Amy about that while I'm at it.

And so, Amy, the shadow wolf, and I continued on to the village.
