18 Waking Up

My eyes fluttered open to the sun's rays shining through a crack in the curtains above the bed I was laying in. Feeling groggy from my time asleep I started to slowly rise, the sound of a person softly breathing emanating from around my legs as I rubbed my eyes.

At the end of my bed the form of Shizu and Rimuru sat sweepingly. Rimuru was in his human form with Shizu fully asleep, a light blush running through her features and face. I immediately smiled as I had some thoughts on what might have happened. The door to the room opened, Rigurd and Ranga walking in with food and drinks for Shizu and Rimuru. It seemed I may have been asleep for a day or two...

Waving to them the sturdy Hobgoblin and the venerable Ranga immediately showed signs of happiness, their faces lighting up in excitement before gradually calming as they noticed the still sleeping forms of Shizu and Rimuru. Coming up slowly Rigurd softly placed the trays of food down beside the bed, some of the food being freshly cooked. One thing I noticed as an elf was the distinct sounds and scents of more construction underway. Feeling a little intrigued I went to access my Growth skill.

Instant pain flooded my body as days worth of stats poured into my body, my breathing intensifying under the sheer strain of taking that many stat points at once. 'How long was I asleep!?' My breathing had woken Rimuru up and consequentially Shizu, the two of them looking at me for a second before shouting out loud their delight.

"Silviana-san!"

"Silviana-san!"

They were so cute as a couple, no wonder they were the destined couple. I felt a slight ping from my memory and started to play it back... Realising just moments later that his actual partner was supposed to be Chloe, after she time travelled.

'Fuck... I just messed up the time line didn't I?' Taking a few breaths to stabilise the pain and the feeling of stupidity rising within me i looked at the two of them, grinning painfully.

"Haha, I'm glad it worked Shizu." The woman had already taken off her mask and was crying a little as her red eye glowed a little brighter, as if Ifrit was also thanking me. Feeling fucking stupid my expression cracked a little, my entire mind working overtime to understand how it was possible to create a scenario like this...

'Maybe this is different than the base timeline and Chloe will still be sent into the past for some reason? Hold on, doesn't that mean that I was in an AU since the start? ... Well it doesn't matter, let's make this nation and myself as strong as possible!' Shrugging off my own worried, leaving the problems to future me, I smiled brightly at the two of them and slipped into the shadows, my fully clothed body appearing several metres away.

"How long have I been asleep?"

"A week and a half."

'Fuck... The Orc Lord? When will he come? Ugh, i hate how shit the timeline tracking of Reincarnated as a Slime was in my past life.'

"Well, no time to regret missed time. I'll go explore a little, let me know if you need my help." Before they could respond and stepped out of my house, the sunny morning greeting my bright purple eyes as the freshness of nature breathed through my pores.

|Received Intermediate Dagger Technique- KunaiJustsu|

In an instant my mind recorded the technique and my muscles gained every fragment of the knowledge of the technique. It was a very versatile and quick technique focussing on speed and accuracy. It lacked power but was very apt for the style of combat known as 'Death by one-thousand cuts'. Honestly I didn't know how I felt about giving up the daily check-ins for these types. The knowledge was helpful and could come in clutch but ultimately random knowledge could be relied upon very little especially with the randomness of the knowledge, it was a bit too much like a Gacha.

'I don't know about this one Rip-off Morgan Freeman...'

There was no response to my mental thought but the emotion was still there. Ignoring the seemingly mediocre gain to my system I decided to go check in on the village and the progress it had made.

In the last week they had made significant progress with tens of new houses and businesses rising from the small huts and tents that were previously there. Paved roads were even starting to be constructed as Hobgoblins worked hard to complete one such road at the far end of the village. Along with these changes were the changes to the smithy district which now were a series of two story buildings connected via walkways above street-level. Chimneys puffed smoke from kilns and other heating devices as the sound of quenching steel and metals resounded through the small district. Currently there were four of these buildings and were all united in making armour, weapons and other supplies. There were still some small forges outside that created everyday metal materials and devices.

There were around 40-50 houses at this stage throughout the village with most being 1 story and large enough for a family of four to live within. Sewers had already been started underneath the village and were being directed towards a large pit with hundreds of small slimes that feasted on the refuse as if it were a delectable meal. The water was then filtered out using a technique Rimuru had remembered from his past life, and then reintroduced into the river where with would then flow down stream perfectly clean.

Water supply for the city wasn't an issue either as the village had started to create basic piping that funnelled River water towards the village, diverting it into the village where it would then be expunged through the sewer system, creating a perfect loop. The good thing about this system was that even the natural flow of the river was mainly unaffected. I was thinking of telling Rimuru that we should build aqueducts from the top of the mountains into the village, making a cistern to gather said water and distribute it after it goes through a filtration system... The Romans had given me that Idea and it was crazy thinking about how much I had actually learnt in school and throughout life now that I could recall it all. Even the small short videos on You-Tube or Tik-Tok (Don't own either of these, so chill) coming to mind.

Raising horses and other mounts, using watermills and other such devices to move cogs and machinery to make automated processes. Creating a magical version of engines using enchantment and my knowledge of Combustion. I didn't know if oil existed here but It wasn't exactly necessary for a world filled with Magicules that could possible be used in replacement... I didn't want to make a modern nation just yet but these were possibilities.

Half way through my tour Rimuru walked up to me in his human form, his expression one of worry.

"Silviana-san, the Goblin Hunting party was attacked, we need to go!"

I nodded and instantly slipped into his shadow, sharing the space with Ranga who looked at me as if happy to have me back. I pet his side a little before turning my attention back to Rimuru's movements, his version of Shizu's mask now adorning his face as he rapidly hoofed it towards the commotion, Ranga going out seconds later.

'This will be Benimaru and the other Ogres... I may even get myself a Kijin Girlfriend... hehe'
