A New Hope, Nier

After waking up in my family's prepper bunker it literally took me less than five minutes to almost die after exiting it to see why I woke up there and be attacked by a rabid machine screaming about building a "Meat Bicycle" out of my body parts... Now after leaning where I am after seeing a small village out closer to the city I lived nearby, I have to ask the most important question a man can in my situation. "Does one fist the android?"

Chapter 66

With my Guardian floating behind the Alpha Beowulf and putting it in the form of a full nelson I was able to find some weak points to shove my lightning-coated sword into it and finally, after I twisted my lightning-coated sword where I believed its heart would be, it fell apart into a dense cloud of dark mist that my Guardian gleefully absorbed with some floating away in the wind as I dashed back to kill the stragglers that my and Blakes team was dealing with.

After we cleared out all the Grimm and we checked our Aura levels on our scrolls other than me and Pyrrha, they all collectively grimaced at seeing themselves below the halfway mark.

"We need to be more careful should there be another fight," I said as I looked at Yang in particular who was down to like thirty percent Aura as her fighting style was entirely based on hand-to-hand combat with some shotguns added to her metal gauntlets...

Humans evolved to keep the much stronger beasts away from us with weapons. Humans simply aren't built to beat animals and monsters to death with our mostly bare hands.

Thankfully Yang and Nora weren't on my team as I would have an aneurism dealing with those exuberant personalities.

"Jake, can you put up more stone walls or maybe a watch tower or something?" Ruby asked and I thought for a moment about how much magic it would cost me.

"Yeah, let's all just get off the ground and wait with our scrolls till the syrup jars fill themselves up." Seeing Nora about to say something I cut her off with what I thought she was going to say. "And no Nora, we don't need you to taste test the syrup for quality control nor do we need you to stay down here to watch over the jars."

Nora's shoulders slumped but Blake prodded her and the rest of her team over to me and with a stomp of my feet a large stone pillar pushed us above the tree line and thus kept us out of the vision of the Grimm patrolling the forest or likewise running towards our louder fellow students that were shooting their guns in the distance.

"So, we got a couple of days off after this trip, whatcha guys going to do?" Yang asked as we all sat down on the stone pillar and settled in to relax for like half an hour or so for the syrup to fill up the jars.

Ruby said she was going to tune up her sniper rifle scythe weapon, Ren and Blake said they were going to relax and read, Yang wanted to go party, Pyrrha was going to relax and after hearing their own plans Weiss ended up shrugging and saying she was willing to relax at Beacon as well.

"How about you Jake? What are you doing for the next couple of days? Oh yeah, you are going to take Weiss out on a hot steamy date, right?" Yang prodded teasingly and I rolled my eyes.

"Not that you would even know what a hot steamy date is... But no, I have some stuff I need to take care of in Vale." Feeling how the Alpha and the dozens of Grimm killed had seemingly tipped over a sort of metaphorical lever in my Guardian and it feeling much stronger, and I wanted to see if I could go back to the world of Nier and bring them here. So, I needed a couple of days where I wasn't expected to spend a good chunk of the day in a classroom.

"Peh like you know what a steamy date is either!" Yang spat before sticking her tongue out at me childishly.

I couldn't help but chuckle along with Ruby who was snickering at her elder sister getting shut down.

"Disregarding Yang's nonsense. Jake after you deal with your business, I would ask that you spare a few hours for us to have a bit of time together." Weiss asked blushing slightly as she folded her hands in her lap avoiding making eye contact with the people on our stone tower.

I nodded as that wouldn't really be a problem as running to and from Nier wouldn't take more than a few minutes or I could arrive there and just die from the Maso overload like I was going to before I fled the world.

And in that case with me being dead I can't be blamed for flaking on Weiss... Actually, how terrible would it feel if you learned someone ran off to a heavily irradiated land in order to avoid going on a date with you.

A while later we jumped off our stone tower and after seeing the jars were basically filled with sap, we took them and back tracked too where got dropped off at to begin with.

Glynda Goodwitch our teacher and escort had apparently telekinetically piled up several large boulders for her to stand upon as a lookout as well as to use as weapons as I saw several boulders had been thrown through some of the neighboring trees as well.

"We got our sap! And we didnt allow Nora to eat it all..." I muttered at the end as our very own Valkryie had stolen a whole jar of our extra sap that we tapped and ate it on the way to the exfiltration zone.

Like she literally ate handfuls of syrup at once... She must be Canadian.

"Alright I already called for the bullhead to come pick us up. Just setup defensive positions while we wait for the other students, and we will leave as soon as the Bullhead arrives." Glynda cooly said as she wore a frown seeing as we were the first team to arrive after she had already called for our ride back

Looking around I myself noticed that we were the first time so as Ruby set up her sniper rifle I approached our teacher. "Mrs. Goodwitch, do you have news on the other students?"

The blonde woman nodded and pointed out her scroll as she spoke. "Yes, I just sent out a priority return order... I believe you to be a rather intelligent young man so when I say this, I may need you to be ready to keep miss Rose in line. Once the Bullhead arrives and we load up the sap as well as ourselves, we will be taking off regardless of the late students and won't be wait for them for longer than five minutes."

I could understand where she was coming from as the golden rule for all air capable transport was to always be in motion as a standing vessel was an easy target to be sabotaged as the Flight Units back in YoRHa after we landed would always leave us and fly back into orbit outside of the reach of the Machine Lifeforms as well as the rampant mutating fauna.
