Chapter 44

"2B you should call Commander White to tell her we have accomplished our duties and that we are pulling out, so we no longer have to contest with the wildlife." I yawned as I drank a mouthful of hot coffee.

2B nodded and closed her eyes obviously synching with her POD to connect to YoRHa to report.

Normally I have been saving my freeze-dried coffee and other forms of drink mixes as I knew I only had a select amount of it. But having a five-meter-tall beetle smash through the thick rock tent you made and almost crush you in its frantic escape from another much larger spider... You just need something strong to drink and if I can't have the burn of alcohol numbing my nerves then I will accept hot coffee to give me the motivation to get the hell out of this so-called Dark Zone and back to where the Androids and Robots are fighting.

It truly says something about this new life of mine where I rather deal with Androids and Robots duking it out and shooting massive lasers at one another, rather than deal with a spider that's seven to eight meters tall and its legs spreading more than fifteen meters in length.

Actually, that might be a perfectly valid response for any average human...

Still, I learned a very important lesson this morning. Apparently due to the spider's exoskeleton being airtight, when you bathe them in high-temperature flames the airtight seals break making the spiders 'scream' as the gases within the spiders break through the exoskeleton.

I am certainly going to have nightmares about this massive Tarantula screaming as it chases me in my dreams...

2B opened her eyes and spoke. "Commander White is happy to hear the nest was broken up and our Flight Units will be here in an hour or so for pickup. Also, we will be able to get back home much quicker this time due to YoRHa having more time to pressure seal Jake's Flight Unit so he can go into low orbit with us."

I nodded in understanding as we would be able to travel much faster as we wouldn't have to worry about air resistance as much at that height as well as not needing to worry about flying into a mutated bird or insect flock that could gang up on us.

After hearing all the details were shared, we settled in for an uneasy watch as we waited for the Flight Units.

"Jake, can you just teleport us back or something." A2 groaned as she leaned against me, she has been the one working the hardest as she actually knew a decent bit about the capabilities of the beings within the area and thus was ready for weird shit happening like for certain beetles to shoot acid or boiling liquids at us from their backside.

So, I didn't mind spoiling her with how hard she has been working as even Androids feel stress and can burn out.

"Sadly, I have no idea how to teleport just yet... Maybe if I experiment with Gravity and Light magic, I can get something going." I answered frowning as even with several elemental archetypes within myself I still had zero fucking clue how to teleport as I didn't have straight-up Space element magic.

And my time magic was completely broken and mostly useless at the same time as so far all I could do was freeze something in time for a few seconds. It was useful as I knew of someone who had similar powers and he used time-frozen strings and needles to capture and kill foes as anything time frozen was inherently indestructible as far as I was aware.

So, using Time magic wasn't going to be the answer despite how people say the two go hand in hand.

'Hmm, actually my Guardian is part of the dark magic side of the Kingdom Hearts magic system, which is where my power mostly comes from, though I think mine is much more chaotic and complicated due to the lack of a Keyblade or other medium to channel through.' I thought and mentally noted to try having my Guardian open a darkness portal as it could use some form of shadow/darkness magic that reflected my elemental magic.

"If I could teleport, I would get us off this damned world... Literally, nothing is here on this dead world other than an unending robot army and even the wildlife is becoming more and more ridiculous as the days go by." I sighed

The androids around me flinched at my caustic statement and I grimaced at how I inadvertently insulted how the Androids have been fighting for this dead world, but if I apologized that would be a lie to say I didn't want off this world and to be dropped off in another modern world even if it was a chaotic world like Marvel or DC, I didn't care...

I was going a bit stir-crazy after a month plus of no other human contact.

"Wait so you would take us all to another world!" 9S said excitedly and I nodded making her cry out in happiness.

"You YoRHa Androids are all mine, and should I be able to make a way to another world, that wouldn't change one bit." A2's arm around my shoulder tightened hearing my claim over her as she was certainly a YoRHa model despite her AWOL status being recently revoked and she had always been a little self-conscious about her less than perfectly crafted android form which showed some mechanical lines.

The thing was, Androids weren't humans in their desire to be independent or free of others' leash from those they adored... No, they were exalted when what they considered to be 'their' human affirmed their claim over them.

"Even if we find a new world with humans, we the YoRHa androids of this generation won't leave you, Jake." 6E said quietly affirming the thoughts of the other androids that have been created as of now and the ones I spoiled and spent time with atop the space station would remain loyal to me.

Finally, I could hear the rumbling of our Flight Units, and out of the thick cloud cover above us five Flight Units landed in front of us with the largest obviously being mine and we shot off instantly as soon as I got settled inside the cockpit into the cloud cover as the forest came alive with beings rampaging as our loud Flight Units disturbed them
