Chapter 7: Narcissist levels up

Seiya opened the door of his house and a tangent smell pierced his nose. The reason is two gloomy family members sitting at the table and staring at the little disaster on their plate.

"What the heck just happened?" Seiya twitched his lips while looking at Aisu and his father.

"I got a phone from work and left steaks on the pan," Shido said.

"Same here and left fish in the oven," Aisu said.

"Sorry." Both of them said with dead eyes.

"Hey, how about we order something?" Shido asked.

"What else we could do…" Aisu shrugged her shoulders.

"No need. From now on I will cook. Just sit here and wait." Seiya sighed and went to the kitchen. His luck clicked at the right time that he was able to buy some tuna at a cheap price.

Since it was a basic skill, it didn't take him long to fry tuna moderately. He also added rice with salted egg and soy sauce. Plan simple yet delicious. If he had better ingredients then he would have prepared a feast for them.

Soon he came back to the table with all the dishes.

That whole time neither Aisu nor Shido said anything and simply started eating.

"Hmmm~, this is so good. Simple yet delicious." Aisu was jolted with Seiya's cooking. She had to admit that Seiya was a multi-talented kid. He never touched cooking yet when he did, he made such decent food.

Shido also smiled and continued to eat silently. He was glad for Seiya for taking part in housework.

After dinner, Seiya returned to his room and sat on his computer to write the first few chapters.

Before he had a hard time writing the first chapter since he couldn't find the right kanji for the right word. Although it was not a problem since he was only writing on the web, he wanted to give a strong impression right from the start.

Although he had a choice to end the first chapter in just 1500 words, there was no way he would end it just to fulfill the words quota. The first few chapters are what define the whole story and if he couldn't even attract readers from that then he would abandon his work after completing the quest because he would be a failure if he can't even do that much with all the cheats he had.

After completing the first chapter of Solo Leveling, he opened syosetu.com, a self-publishing novel site that hosts over 800,000 novels, has over 2,000,000 registered users, and receives over 1 billion page views per month.

After making an account, he immediately uploaded the first chapter two chapters with a unique genre called Hunter.

Although Isekai was in the mainstream, most of them were far from any work he had seen in his previous life.

However, he didn't care about improving new ideas to the world. He will choose his cards slowly in the entertainment industry.

Another one of his concerns was plagiarizing his work. There are thousands of writers publishing their work so what if one of them were to steal the idea and make their novel. Since they have no shortage of readers, it won't take the same author to make a name for them.

However, he was not worried at all. First, he had already prepared a mental draft of the story, setting and with his writing skill, there was no way a publishing company would ignore that fact. Plus new authors in the genre won't be able to keep up the uploading speed of new chapters against Seiya.

In short, he has all the cards to overturn the tables. He had already planned to complete the novel this year.

However, there was still one problem where he has to change the story a little bit. It is fine for the first few chapters to attract an audience but he has to work his way really hard to make the later part of the story readable.

He was not sure if he should contract an author who could guide him. He could also ask his aunt Aisu but he didn't want to expose his secret, for now, to be for the time being.

"Forget it for now…" Seiya leaned on the chair and sighed. 'When the time comes, I will find someone to write the scenario… hmm?'

He then noticed the list of top 20 where one novel picked his interest.

Metronome in Love by Utako Kasumi. He didn't know where did he read that name before but he started casually reading it. However, before he knew it, he completed reading 40 chapters in just 20 minutes.

He was more shocked to see such exciting content than his speed to read Japanese.

"Man, the content is top-notch. I wonder if I could contract the author." Seiya smiled and thought about contacting the author. He could send an email to the author but he doubt if the author would even reply to him.

Anyway, he then went to bed after finishing everything. He had to wake up early in the morning.

He then woke up after a good sleep in this new world. His father and aunt would wake up late so he just left their breakfast on the table so that he won't have to make them again.

After wearing his tracksuit, he went outside for the new workout.

"Sup, Miyako…" Seiya lifelessly entered and fell on the chair. "Open the air conditioner, wipe my sweat and give me the best haircut so that I would look more handsome. Do so in less than 15 minutes. Also, I am not paying."

Seiya said and closed his eyes to rest. He knew the lady barber for quite some time so he didn't spare any honorifics. Besides he was a narcissist and didn't want to hold back his arrogant pride in front of people he knows.

"Right away, Seiya-kun," Miyako replied and soon began her work.

When Seiya opened his eyes, he was already done with the haircut. Miyako was reading a newspaper who also noticed Seiya.

"So Mr. handsome, does that work?" Miyako asked.

Seiya looked at the mirror and thought that Miyako was really good at her work. She knows his taste.

"Looks okay. Jaane." Seiya waved his hand and left the shop without paying.

"Bye, bye." Miyako waved her hand. She didn't really mind Seiya's attitude since Seiya too was going through emotional anxiety of his age like her son. Besides, Seiya's father will pay one way or another.

"Aah~, working out in the morning is so much refreshing." Seiya smiled and stretched his arm. "Hmm?"

He then noticed his father hiding behind a wall and watching something. Without making any noise, he went behind him to see what was so interesting going on.

'A woman…?' Seiya noticed that his father was staring at a woman with pinkish-brown hair color. He couldn't see properly but he thought that woman must be experiencing nightmares the way her eyes looks.

He tapped his father and asked, "Who is she?"

"Her name is Yae- huh SEIYA!" Shido realized late that it was his son Seiya.

"Calm down, pops. Why do you have to react like a beta male every time? Anyway, who is she?"

"No one! No one! I was just watching clouds! That's all! I swear!"

Seiya rolled his eyes and sighed. He didn't get why his father was acting like a beta male his age but he didn't care much.

If his father wants to marry another woman then he doesn't have any problem but the topic was never touched before so neither of them ever talked about it.

"Whatever." Seiya shrugged his shoulders and went to the house.
