175 Poor Earl

"What are you doing?" Earl asked with a frown as he observed Fox using various instruments.

"Mr. Earl," Fox raised his head, glanced at Earl, and then leaned over to check the microscope, "You actually have time to come here? It's truly a rare occurrence..."

"I came here for one thing," Earl frowned, "retrieve the data of 48-B 1-ME and send all its backups, cloud saves, and data to me. Remember, send it to me, don't give me a copy."

"It sounds peculiar. It's not like you want to check the information, but rather intend to erase it all?" Fox raised his head again, grinning. "Let me think... that is a microwave weapon, used to evaporate water sources and spread water-based chemicals, etc... You lost it?"

"Do you know why I transferred you here, Fox?" Earl stared at Fox for a moment, took off his glasses, wiped them with a handkerchief, "You're so smart, so smart that I have to fear you."

"You want me to consider that an honor?" Fox retorted, "No, making you fearful rather than desperate is belittling myself."

"Haha, you have sharp teeth and a sharp tongue. I hope you can maintain that in the future." Earl finished wiping his glasses, put them back on, then tossed the handkerchief to the ground. "I will merge the Applied Science Department with another department, and you will be terminated for using company resources to conduct research unrelated to the company. Do you understand?"

"You mean this?" Fox picked up a bottle of green liquid nearby.

"I don't recall Wayne Group developing such a thing, so I don't need to elaborate on what you're up to, right?" Earl sneered.

"This isn't something developed by Wayne Group," Fox explained, "it's something commissioned by the owner of Wayne Group for me to study."

"I never issued such an order to you..." Earl interrupted himself abruptly.

Meanwhile, Fox's face displayed a sly smile, akin to the English meaning of Fox - clever and cunning.

"So, you already see yourself as the owner of Wayne Group?" Another voice chimed in from behind Earl.

Earl swallowed, turned around slowly with a stiff body, and saw the person he least wanted to encounter at this moment.

Bruce Wayne.

"I truly didn't expect this, Mr. Earl," Bruce shook his head slightly, "It appears that it's time to hand over the position in your hands!"

There was nothing to say about what happened after that. Although Earl tried hard to defend himself, the fact that he admitted in front of Bruce that he was the owner of Wayne Group could definitely make him leave. Not to mention the fact that the weapon was stolen, which made it even worse.

Earl was fired without any suspense, and Jack hypnotized him just to be on the safe side, in case the people from the League of Assassins might notice something from him.

Fox's appointment surprised almost all the group directors.

The news announced by the group was that Earl believed he was old and mentally weak, so he voluntarily abdicated and chose Fox to succeed him.

What a load of bullshit! If anyone believes this reason, wouldn't it mean that they are mentally ill?

Speaking of old, isn't Fox obviously much older than Earl? No one is a fool, especially this group of people who can stand firm as directors of Wayne Group. Everyone is a genius!

Earl must have committed something and was fired after that. As for why he was not selected from ordinary directors like them to succeed the chairman...

Watching Fox and Bruce appear together, have a good conversation, and come up with a complete listing plan, the directors immediately "understood."

It turns out that everything was Bruce's conspiracy! It turns out that Bruce's previous playboy appearance was all an act. He must have recognized Earl's status on the surface, and then secretly found Fox, who was targeted by Earl and failed. Fox must have agreed to many conditions of Bruce in order to get the upper hand. Being able to be perfectly controlled, Bruce then supported Fox to take over and get the chairmanship of Wayne Group!

Fox is just a puppet; the real master is Bruce Wayne!

How terrible!

The directors' hearts trembled as they looked at Bruce, and their perception of him underwent a significant shift. No longer did they regard him as the playboy bastard; instead, they now showed complete respect and an underlying fear. Bruce, with the power to dismiss them all, had swiftly ousted Earl with a calculated move, and the directors understood that his actions were a warning.

Aware of the implications, when Bruce asked if they had any objections to the listing plan, the directors unanimously agreed without hesitation. Bruce, however, couldn't help but feel a bit perplexed. Were these people genuinely easy to persuade? Weren't they supposed to be colluding with Earl?

Bruce's doubts lingered until the next morning when he saw the newspaper headlines, revealing that there were more "smart people" like the directors. Overnight, public opinion had shifted, painting Bruce not as the "playboy who only knows how to spend money" but as a "scheming" billionaire who had successfully deceived the entire Gotham community. Now, he was recognized as the actual leader of Wayne Group.

Bruce couldn't contain his astonishment. "I'm baffled! Wasn't I supposed to be a mastermind orchestrating behind the scenes?"

"Why should that be a problem?" Jack retorted. "Hey, your name's plastered across the front page today. It's the first time someone's overshadowed Batman's fame in recent memory, and it's all thanks to you."

Throughout Bruce's tutelage under Jack, they had caused quite a stir together, skillfully raising Batman's profile. Falcone, despite his fury, found himself powerless against their cunning tactics.
