Chapter 24

My hand immediately went to my shoulder, my eyes wide, and checked for any injuries but there were none. There was no blood, no scent of steel, not even a tear on my shirt.

It was just as shown in Baki. Miyamoto Musashi, the unparalleled swordsman under the heavens, did not need a sword to cut you; such a thing was merely a luxury for him.

"Truly, such a magnificent palace of flesh." Musashi said with a smile.

"I had intended to cut you in half with that swing. All the way from your shoulder to your hip. Yet I was only able to leave a mere gash on your shoulder." He continued and the smile on his face... it was so normal. It was the kind of smile one would have while walking on a flower field, or having a simple cup of coffee; not while talking about how they had intended to bisect someone.

"Well then, let's try it again with a proper blade." Musashi smirked as he drew his sword from it's sheath and held it in his hand in the signature pose that anyone who had watched any samurai movie had seen.

"IZA!" And then he was in front of me. His sword raised high and ready to fall down on my head. At that moment, I put almost all of my strength into my legs and jumped back; leaving behind a small crater in the ground which was slashed into two by the famous swordsman.

"Very nimble for your size, truly worth cutting!" Musashi yelled as he once more swung his sword at me but this time I was ready for it. I immediately accessed my inventory and had it teleport Galatine to my hand, which I used to block Musashi's swing.

"Hoo, you're a swordsman as well?! Seems like a quite impressive one as well!" Musashi yelled with a smile as he continued to apply more and more pressure on his sword, likely intending to cut through Galatine in order to get to me.

Naive!

"Rah!" I yelled as I put my strength into my grip and pushed Musashi away, making him widen his eyes as he lost in our little strength competition.

"Quite strength." Musashi muttered but I had no intention of letting of the small advantage that I had just obtained so I rushed at him and swung Galatine towards his head, which was blocked by Musashi's katana. An act that I took as my cue to throw a punch towards the samurai's head and my fist connected with... the short sword Musashi drew from it's scabbard.

"That's weird." Musashi noted as he saw that no blood was coming out of my hand, neither was it being split open. All thanks to my skill, Solar Shell, which created a skin level barrier above me with fire attribute.

"Don't get distracted!" I yelled as I put more strength into my hand that was holding Galatine and sent the samurai flying away.

As Musashi rolled on the ground, I shook my hand that had impacted his sword. It might not have been cut, but the shock of actually punching a sword combined with the fact that it had still hurt made me require a moment to gather my thoughts.

To be perfectly honest, Musashi's battle strength was extraordinary. I had, for a moment, thought that I had this fight in bag when I realized that the man in front of me was Baki's Musashi, a strong warrior for sure but still someone I should be able to defeat with my powers considering the strength, speed and skills I possessed. Instead this man would likely have killed me by now if it hadn't been for Solar Shell.

And now, with the samurai that could have taken my life writhing on the ground, all I wanted was to go and end this battle. Yet I didn't, for I remember another battle of Musashi where he was attacked by a man who had mastered four thousand years of Chinese martial arts while writhing on the ground, only for Musashi to tie up the attacker within a moment and then gut him like a fish.

Fortunately, even without magic, there were ways to attack without getting close. So I stabbed Galatine to the ground and then swung the broadsword, making the earth flew out of the ground like bullets. Their target, the peerless swordsman under the heavens!

"Woah!" Who jumped above the incoming barrage of earth in order to avoid the attack, showing that he was feigning weakness in order to lure me into a trap.

"Trying to punch me right after a slash, using the dirt itself as a weapon in order to end a battle without putting yourself at risk and such eyes." Musashi chuckled as he got up.

"It's just as I thought, you are not a fighter. You are a warrior." The swordsman said as he looked at me.

"Tell me, new warrior, what is your name?" He asked as he gripped his swords.

"Cyrus. Cyrus Samson." I said as I got into position to defend myself with Galatine positioned in front of me.

"Cyrus Samson." Musashi repeated as his arms rose high with his swords pointing towards the sky.

"I shall give you a beautiful end!" The peerless swordsman yelled as he rushed towards me, his arms vanishing due to the speed he was swinging his swords; it was almost like there was a tornado of death around the samurai as he approached me.

Seeing no other choice, I too rushed towards him with a rather ridiculous plan forming inside my head. So ridiculous that it just might work.

As we finally reached each other, I threw my empty hand towards Musashi's arm and managed to catch the short sword in his hand in my palm, the Solar Shell skill working to its limits in order to protect me. That was also the moment, I felt Musashi's other sword cleave it's way into my shoulder; making me scream out in pain.

"So this is it." Musashi said and for some reason, I felt like the great swordsman was... sad.

"Huh?" Which was replaced with confusion as he failed to draw his sword back from my shoulder and his eyes widened as he saw my smirk and the Galatine in my hand glowing.

"Gotcha!" I yelled with triumph as Galatine was swung upwards, leaving a huge gash on Musashi chest and the man ended up losing his grip on the sword and fell back with wide eyes.
