Chapter 3

Xu Yingyue woke up at 6 am in the morning like usual. Her internal clock always started at 6 am, and she sleep whenever she could find the time. She looked out the window in her hotel, the sun was rising and the city was waking up like her.

She glanced at her phone and saw a few notifications from Lin Xian, she opened WChat and began to read them.

[Lin Xian]: Which hotel suite are you in? I'll bring you breakfast.

[Lin Xian]: I'll buy you pork and preserved egg congee and steamed pork rice noodles.

She was speechless. 'Why is he bringing me breakfast?'

[Xu Yingyue]: "Are you joking?"

Few seconds later.

[Lin Xian]: "Why can't I spoil my girlfriend?" [Winking bunny]

"…"

She couldn't imagine the man using such cute stickers.

[Xu Yingyue]: "You sure are taking advantage of me, aren't you?"

[Lin Xian]: "What do you mean?" [Innocent duck]

[Xu Yingyue]: "…"

Then she imagined the breakfast he was going to bring her and became infatuated by the thought of food. She quickly told him the room number and went off to take a hot shower. Nothing can get in the way of her love for food.

*knock knock*

She ran to see if it was Lin Xian who knocked; it was him. He looked like his handsome self even at crack of dawn… how enviable. He must be a demon lord in those web novels; seducing women left and right with his looks then throwing them away.

She opened the door, he walked in and she took the bag of food and ran to the sofa and coffee table.

"Not even a hello to your boyfriend who came all this way to give you breakfast?" Lin Xian said while he closed the door.

Xu Yingyue already dug into the congee and steamed rice noodles, her mouth was full of food. "…" She looked at him while still eating.

"Hello, CEO Lin! Thanks for the breakfast! Would you like some congee?" She offered him a spoonful of congee. Her eyes clearly didn't want him to have any but she still offered.

Lin Xian gave a helpless look. 'This is the woman he likes…" He lamented at his own taste of woman before he went and sat beside her. He took the spoonful that was offered and ate it from her spoon.

She glared at him. Then reluctantly went and got another spoonful for him to eat and another spoonful for herself. This repeated till they both finished eating the breakfast.

He casually took her legs and placed them on his lap, as if it was natural for him to do that. His hands were on her legs to keep them still.

"…"

"There. Now we are both comfortable, aren't we?" He smiled innocently.

"Sure. What did you come over for?" She asked while she still thought that his lap was nice and firm; must be the toned muscles as her imagination went to the gutters.

"Just wanted to spend some time with you before I head to work." Lin Xian wanted to spend as much time as he could with her since he was always so busy, he felt it was a lost cause to always spend time with her.

Xu Yingyue stared at him for a bit, wondering if he's a bit too smooth or if she was the one that was crazy.

"Don't you think we are going too fast?" She asked.

He shamelessly said. "Nonsense. We dated before and we are already used to each other so how could this be fast?"

"Hm." She moved closer to him, sat on his laps with her arms wrapped around his neck. "Is this aright with you?" She smiled slyly. Her face was so close to his face, that she could feel his breathing; one little movement and their lips would touch. She then kind of regretted her idea but she still kept her expression in place. 'Once you start, you must finish it to the end!'

Lin Xian was caught off guard by her movement. Now, he was so close to her that just moving a bit forward, he could kiss her lips. Not only that, but her whole body was in his arms, how could he not be aroused?

He saw her sly face as she was teasing him due to her complaint for being shameless. He could only sigh and resist. He must not lose and his self-control was being tested.

Lin Xian wrapped his arms around her waist making sure she won't fall then he put his head on to her neck. "More than alright! I dreamed of holding you again." He said in a relief voice that indicated that his dreams were finally granted.

She could only let him rest on her neck, especially when he's acting like a child. With a helpless expression, she put her hands on his head and slowly caress his hair.

'His hair is so soft.' She found she quite liked it, so she continued touching his hair repeating between caressing and patting, like she found a brand new pet dog.

Lin Xian couldn't help but think he was a dog in her hands when she became this enthusiastic about touching his hair, but what could he do? He liked having her in his arms, so he let it go and enjoyed the moment.

"Do still have any resentment towards me?" She asked softly.

Lin Xian stiffened. "No, do you?"

Xu Yingyue thought about it. "I don't as well. I thought about back and it's amazing we even lasted as long as we did. Considering I was your rebound relationship."

He couldn't deny that she was the rebound. "I'm sorry…" He whispered. His arms tightened around her waist.

Xu Yingyue gasped. "I'm sorry as well. I used you to fill the loneliness I felt all around me…" She touched his hair once more, slowly stroking it back and forth.

The tension in the room suddenly became heavy.

"…At the beginning, I enjoyed spending my time with you. You were so kind and considerate." She mumbled gently. "I thought we were happy during that period…"

"We were. I thought you were gentle but a bit cold when it came to certain things. You got so happy over the simplest gestures that I found that you were cute." He said.

Xu Yingyue blushed. "Don't bring up my dark history please!"

"What happened to you for you to change?" Lin Xian asked.

"…"

"I know it wasn't just me that changed; after Wen Feng Mian didn't want to marry me and then ran aboard to pursue her own career. I lost my self-respect and was more insecure than I would've liked to admit. A few weeks after we dated, I started thinking that you didn't want me because I wasn't good enough for you and then I had commitment issues on top of that." Lin Xian took her right hand, put his fingers between hers and held it.

"I never told you, but I had an ex-boyfriend before you. He was a terrible human being and when you started becoming a whole new person, it felt like I was back in that deep hole of abuse. I fought back to your anger and indifference towards me with just the same amount of anger because I took you to be like my ex; it was wrong because you weren't my ex and he was a psycho. You were just hurt like I was from your previous relationship." She said.

"We were both very angry at our exes and we blamed and directed our anger onto each other." He looked up at her and kissed her forehead.

Xu Yingyue felt safe in his arms, his comforting kiss gave her more hope for this relationship of theirs. Plus, they gave an explanation of what happened before; it seems surreal that we figured out all the misunderstandings. Even though, she skipped over many things about her ex.

Lin Xian looked at her and smiled.

She made a bold move and kissed him lightly. It lasted not even 10 seconds but it was the most beautiful kiss she ever felt.

It felt like this man's arms were where she belonged.
