Chapter 1

A beautiful day, spring in full bloom and the happiest festival around. It's a Sunday, therefore I don't have to go and work part-time at Mrs. Gregors. It's not like it's any bad, it's just that the labor work isn't the best, designing dresses and making them isn't my favorite thing to do. I sat around the table with my family, the sandwiches, cake, tea, I couldn't ask for more. My brothers are about to leave for their tutoring. Oh, how I really envy them! Although the empire is greatly prosperous, a woman's capabilities are still tied down to some extent. It's not that we aren't allowed to develop knowledge in various majors, it's the excessive expenses that are costly for a family to pay for their daughter's lessons, especially for economics, history and governance. Unfortunately, Seletine has its imperfections, so I can't guess it's the Utopia we've always hoped for.

Whether said, I immediately finish my breakfast, and head to the infamous library of Khar. I've always loved going to the library and learning many things. Personally, I'm a fast book learner, rather than an oral learner, and that's all thanks to my extreme habit of reading. My favorite book is 'Laws and All by Fredrich Schel', a book with the basics for everything, law to medicine to mathematics, magic, arithmetics and country laws, that's basically all there is to it. I'm pretty acquainted with the regulars at the library, as well as the few staff here. I personally find it fun to find Sir Sabl and Lady Kajun here, either of them is fun to talk to and discuss a couple of our ideas with. Yet, I wouldn't describe our relationship as close. Unfortunately, I'm not the best at communication, if I were to ever greet a person in the library, I'd talk about books with them. Then, I start talking about simple flaws regarding order and decisions for Seletine. It isn't me trying to show off anything, or going against the King, I just have a bad habit of expressing my ideas to anyone and everyone. But seriously, they really set me up on stone, like they are really simple, yet why were they ignored? Either way, it's of no business of mine to pry, therefore I never said a word to any higher ups around it.

Today I'd gone to borrow a book, unsure about what book though of course! I never really had my mind set on what I wanted to be in my life, therefore I'd just gather up as much knowledge, to even be named the genius of the century… although that's almost impossible with his majesty the King. Nevertheless, I  stumbled upon a romance novel. The cover of the novel was really interesting, not to mention the name "A vague confession". The title was truly interesting, vague, out of all the words, vague? 'This is really a novel I should read' I'd told myself. I go greet Madam Gertrude and have a little conversation with her. The government's situation these days is becoming certainly worrisome. Just recently, we've had a shortage in resources, and a sudden uproar from the working class, including the sudden increase in taxes. I really want to know what's going on! It'd just been yesterday since everything was growing and peaceful… what could've gone wrong? 'I tell you something though, heard they've been searching for someone to get help. Just an hour ago, an oracle had spread about a genius, but not any genius, a genius of their kind!' whispered Madam Gertrude into my ear. I wouldn't want it to be like a novel's story where the least expected woman is the one told… that's the complete unwanted. Not even I would want to be them! Being a genius is a serious matter.. You'll have to meet the Royal Family, gain enemies, be exposed to assassinations and death, it isn't that simple of a task to be named a genius. Therefore, I'd never dreamt to be one.

It's already late, and I had promised my mum to return home early to help cook. I bid Madam Gertrude and leave with an absolute smile on my face, I absolutely can't wait to read the novel! On my way back I'd find my brothers lying on the ground. 'What'd happened to them! Why are they here?!' I thought to myself immediately running to them pushing away the massive crowd from my path. I check for them, and rest assured that it'd only been some mere bruises and no dire problem. I look around me, a little boy sitting next to them with tears in his eyes, ' are they okay?' he'd asked. I immediately knew that it was none other than my brothers' classmates that've injured them, this might be the second time now. Why do children have to be so immature to start attacking others?! I told the little child to rest assured, and carried my brothers back home. The little boy followed behind, but I held his hand to secure his safety.

Passing by the large crowds, I returned back home and started treating my brothers. The little boy went for a little nap. '*Sigh* This should be addressed soon… I can't have my brothers getting injured every now and then. Helping my brothers out in our situation isn't the best option, there aren't even ANY good options! Just because we're poorer, doesn't mean we understand that we have to be reminded of our social stance every time we go out.
