23 Chapter 23

The files are what she expected them to be, though more official-looking. They didn't mention the other candidates, just that there were others. She doesn't know if it's smart of them to do so. After all, Tony is a hacker and knows his way around computers. This way just incites his curiosity, which maybe is their plan all along. Who knows what's going on around a spy's mind?

After reading alongside Tony for a while, she turns to Fury. 'You expect us to form part of this group and work together in case something threatens the world and/or humanity, right?'

"Yes. It's not a working contract, just an agreement that you will drop everything off when the conditions are met and act when we need you."

"So this merry band would work on mostly hypothetical situations, then? If there's never something like, I don't know, an alien invasion, we would be free to do whatever?"

"Basically."

"You do know how farfetched something like that happening sounds, right?"

Eva turns to him with pity in her gaze. 'Oh, you sweet summer child.'

"What? It's true."

Fury raises an eyebrow. "You do realize you're harboring an alien creature in your home, don't you?"

Tony scoffs and crosses his arms. "Yeah, whatever. Doesn't mean an invasion will happen."

Eva feels a little guilty, so she raises her paw. 'Actually, I know a bit of this universe and it is a bit dangerous. Especially for Earth.'

"I thought you weren't from this universe at all."

She glances at Fury who is still impassive before glaring at Tony. 'Doesn't mean I don't know about other universes.'

Because other worlds of fiction must exist if the MCU does, right?

Tony looks dubious, but he seems to realize his previous folly in talking about things he shouldn't in front of a spy, so he doesn't ask for clarification. At least, not at the moment.

"Yeah, whatever. This is all fine and dandy, but what I'm interested in is in what you want from Eva?"

She too is interested in that, so she chooses to look at Fury with her eyes wide innocently.

"We just want to know about her powers and about where she comes from. And if there are more waiting to come to us, too."

Eva scratches her head as she thinks about. It doesn't seem fair. She can give some of her powers away, as to pave their future collaboration with her. About her world, though... Well, she could give some information about the Pokemon world.

'We could send him a copy of the data we got by testing my powers,' she says before sending a message to Tony and saying only to him. 'They know I can transform, but don't know I gain more powers with each transformation. Better to keep that as a secret.'

Tony tilts his head in affirmation and mentions fury about some experiments they have done and how he has the data stored safely.

"I can give you an, ugh, paper copy of the data."

'Just for you and your most trusted,' she adds, as to sound paranoid and more real. 'Then you gotta destroy that info and not let anyone catalogue it inside a computer or any other digital device.'

Fury squints lightly but doesn't press the issue, choosing to accept this condition. "If you want a place to train and test your abilities, we've got a perfect place for it inside our HQ in Washington."

Huh, this sounds better and better. 'Though basically, I've got a couple of powers for attack, defense, increased speed and strength. Also, to heal and support. I'm pretty flexible to be placed in any team, actually."

"I would still like to know more about your history, though," he says before turning his gaze towards Tony. "What about you, Mr. Stark?"

"Yeah, sorry, but I'm not interested in your boy-band. Not that you could afford me, anyway." He shrugs before moving toward her. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I deserve a bath."

She smiles at Fury. 'I will send you the info through Coulson, if that's okay. Also, I'm interested in the practice you said about, Director.'

Fury gives her a curt nod and moves towards the door. He looks to where Tony went to before hearing something coming from his side. He turns and sees her floating next to him. 'However, if you do something like this to Jarvis again, Tony will be the less of their problems. Believe it.'

Giving him a last cursory glance, they both nod at each other and she watches him leave.

It's not a minute longer for Jarvis to return online. "Welcome home, Sir and Miss Eva."

She smiles at the camera and waves at him before saying to herself in her mind,. "Glad to have you back, Jarvis."

Well, now what's she supposed to do?

She thinks as she floats to Tony's room to grab a loose shirt from him and then go to cooking. She tries to think about her options and what she thinks is important for her to help with.

She confirms Tony is in the bathroom, showering before deciding to transform into human and grabs Tony's ACDC shirt. It's almost like a dress to her as she's quite short, as unlike the actor that played Tony, the real one is fairly taller.

Once she's decent, she goes to cook something.

It takes her a couple of minutes for her to remember something important. It's actually when she's doing a simple soup to cook the risotto she's planning to do. She froze as it caught her in mid-action, almost burning the risotto.

She quickly shakes her head and continues cooking.

'Wasn't Tony poisoned by the palladium??!'

Shit.
