A maniac's social group

(POV change)

A middle-school kid with black and orange hair sat with his arms wrapped around his legs. A few kids were playing around on the front lawn of the school while others were smiling while eating their lunches. The teachers were still in the building, doing whatever it was teachers do.

The boy sat alone, watching all of this play out. "Why won't anyone talk to me?" He muttered under his breath. "I try and try..." he muttered once more, remembering his previous interactions with students around his age. "Would you like to have lunch together?" He'd say with a smile.

"Not really... I don't even know you..." the kids would say, or frazes similar to that. "Okay! Maybe next time" he'd say in response, though he'd end up being avoided by the person in question. This would continue, until finally he was left in the position he was in now.

"Alone again. Alone... alone" he muttered under his breath. Memories of two people yelling at each other came rushing to his mind. "Alone... alone" he muttered again as a memory of a wooden cup being thrown across a room came to mind. "Alone... isn't so bad" he muttered.

He raised his head, a soft smile crossing his lips. "No one... no one will reject me. No one... because there isn't anyone to begin with. Alone... alone isn't so bad. That's right, alone isn't so bad..." he muttered to himself, before sitting back down and watching the others play.

A rope with frayed edges could be seen in an all-black room. Strands of it began to snap, falling to the floor as they did so. The kid watched the others play. This time, any sense of loneliness or evny was nowhere to be found. "This hole of mine... why has it grown larger?" Muttered the boy.

"No one will hurt anymore because of me anymore. No one will feel sad anymore because of me anymore. No one... except..." the boy muttered to himself, though he bit his lip before he could say anything more. "No one" he muttered as blood began to drip from his lip.

"I'll serve you forever, master"

I woke up with a start, finding a young girl in a maid's uniform hovering over my bed. "A-ayame?" I asked, more confused than anything. "U-uh, are you ready for school, master?" Asked Ayame, whose face flushed bright red as she scooted back from her spot.

Beads of sweat dripped down her face as she twirled her bubblegum-pink hair around her finger. "Are you okay? You look as red as a tumbash" I said, which was this world's version of a tomato. "U-uh... oh! I'm fine" she said, her eyes shifting all over the place.

"Uh... so... why are you in my room in the first place?" I asked. "Right! Well, I found out about a rumor I thought you might want to hear" said Ayame, who had finally regained her composure. "Alright, this sounds interesting, but where did you hear this from?" I asked.

"Around. I assure you I heard it from a credible source" she said. The both of us sat on the floor, since I had no other chairs in my room. Sitting on my bed seemed more than a bit too akward now. "...The rumors say they found a knife covered in blood on one of the desks in the library" she said.

"And you're sure you heard this from a credible source, right?" I asked. "Absolutely! There's more to the rumor, though. They say the librarian has been acting strange ever since, and that they've been lashing out a lot more recently" said Ayame, her face so seriously it made me laugh.

"Hey! Cut it out! I'm for real!" She said. "...right" I said. "Hmmf! You used to be a lot more accepting of these rumors before you became a magic academy student. Just what are they teaching you anyway?" She asked. "Stuff like how to tell when something sounds ridiculous" I said.

"Wha! Are you making fun of me? That's another thing that's changed. You used to be a lot kinder before this academy" She said. 'It's funny to think she's a year behind me since she's always talking like a mom. Actually, she's more of a mom than either of my own moms ever were' I thought.

A smile spread across my face. "What's that look about?" Asked Ayame. "Oh, nothing, mom" I said. She huffed out of my room, though I caught a glimpse of a smile as she closed the door, her face a bit blushed. 'Maybe she caught a cold or something' I thought.

"Our first meeting has now officially started. I assume we're all going to do self-study, but I guess I should ask anyway. Does anyone want to volunteer to be the leader of this group?" Asked the girl with blue hair, Aoi. No one dared to raise their hand. Being leader ment a lot of paperwork.

"Why don't I volunteer myself for the role?" Asked Hiroto, the only other boy in our group besides me. Evryone nodded their heads, glad to have the potential burden of leader off of their shoulders. "Okay, so is everyone okay with self-study?" Asked Hiroto, to which everyone agreed.

"Okay, then how about we talk more during our last meeting and leave it at that?" Asked Hiroto. "No complaints here" said Meliana. Evryone else agreed with her. We all split up and headed to different areas of the library. With that rumor still going around, we were the only ones in the library.

A relatively short girl with long pearly-blue hair held a knife in her left hand. Blood dripped down from the knife, then splattered across the grass that stood at her feet. The droplets on the water mixed with the blood, only serving to spread the crimson color further.

A hooded figure lay at her feet with a gash across its neck. "One less person... one less person..." she said, her gaze drifting to the overcast sky. The clouds themselves had turned a grayish-blue, as if mourning the death of this unknown figure. Droplets began to fall from the sky.

Imitating teardrops, they fell across her eyes. Instead of looking for shelter, she stood in the middle of the grassy field. "Rain..." she muttered under her breath. Thunder and lightning began to roar across the sky. After a few more minutes, she left the scene.

A smile formed on the corner of her mouth as she left, her blood seeming to boil with exitment. "Y'know, life's about to get interesting. My contract is nearing its end. I'll be free... what does freedom even feel like at this point? Will I even like it?' She thought as drops splashed on her hoodie.

"I wonder how Rein is doing" muttered a girl with black hair and wolf ears. Her crimson eyes seemed to sparkle in the torch's light, the flames lighting up an arena-like place. "I hope he's doing well" said a furry bull-like creature in a maid uniform who entered the scene.

"In any case, I'd best be off" I said to the Fanriuck before me. "Good luck with your meeting, master" she said before going back inside the hole in one of the seats that lined the arena. Peeking out of the doorway was a few small Fanriucks who weren't yet able to handle themselves in the wild.

I slowly started walking to a set of stairs waiting outside the doorway to the arena. "I'm not looking forward to meeting with the Garlucks of the 2nd floor... seriously, why do they want to claim these stairs as their own? Does it really matter when we share this territory anyway?" I muttered.

(POV change, back in time)

As the teacher told us to group up into groups of four, I just wanted to scream. 'Seriously? It's bad enough hanging around with these idiots during school, but now I'm going to have to hang out with them after school too?!' I thought as I looked around the classroom.

"Hey, Hiroto, did you want to pair up with me?" Asked Sukaioto, one of my 'friends'. "Nah, I think I'll pair up with someone else for a change. It might be nice to make some new friends" I said. "Okay... but is there anyone in this class you don't know?" Asked Sukaioto.

"I guess we'll just have to find out" I said. "Alrighty then" he said before racing off to find some others who might want to pair up with him. 'Let's see...' I thought to myself. Before long, everyone had already gotten into their groups of four and were already lined up at the back of the classroom.

My eyes met with Rein's. At first, he seemed like the childish type- one might even describe him as pure or innocent. But the second I met his gaze... "He's smile... it's the same as mine" I muttered under my breath. Rein Mizutani... he's an interesting one.

I walked up to his group, subtly joining in with them. 'Let's see... it seems Meliana's here, along with Aoi' I thought. This seemed to be a good group, one with a decent amount of equality, a wide range in skills/academics, and more importantly, everyone here seems to be quite interesting.

"Hah! This has got to he the best group ever" said Rein, to everyone's surprise. He seemed to be talking to himself- something I've noticed he does quite often. Though I haven't taken an extreme notice of him before now, I could see it all too clearly now that I had.

'Get yourself together. That's all in the past. For right now, my only goal is to find out more. Meliana, an elven princess with striking features, a noble personality, and high morals. Aoi, an extreme loner who likes to take charge. And finally, Rein. Just what kind of person is he?' I thought.

For once in my life, something seemed to truly excite me. No one can tell the future, but from this point on, I knew that whatever this God had in store for us, it was going to he one heck of a ride. 'Just what I'd expect, ♡{Romantic Fantasy}♡' I thought as the teacher began to speak.

(POV change)

A yawn escaped my lips. "...Life sure is interesting" I said to the cat. "Where'd that come from?" Asked the cat. "Well, I was just realizing how truly different this world... this life... is from my previous one. Back then, I never would've imagined I could have as much fun as this" I said.

"Hmm" said the cat. "What? Is there something wrong with that?" I asked. "Just make sure to be careful. You never can tell that fate has in store for you" said the cat, who flicked his tail to and fro. His black eye seemed to glow as he gazed upon me. An erie aura seemed to envelope the both of us.

"Mhmm! After all, who could've imagined getting a second change as cool as this one?" I said, my face slightly blushing as I smiled. "But don't worry, I've got everything planned out. I won't make the same mistakes I did I my previous life" I said to the cat.

"You're an interesting one" said the cat. "Bareing your heart on your sleeve only leads to trouble. Lieing to everyone around you is honestly the best way to keep yourself safe. I won't ever let the same thing happen twice. I won't try too hard for people anymore" I said.

"...right" said the cat, who looked a bit concerned, but didn't say another word to me. 'I guess even cats have their own perspective on life aswell' I thought as the cat began to walk agian, turning toward the direction of the academy's dorms. "Tehee! I can't wait for tomorrow!" I muttered.

[A/N: Sorry for the constant POV changes, it'll slow down next chap. From this point forward, expect a decrease in quality as I'm going to try to start going for 2 chapters every other day, maybe more]
