Xin Yan

"Tell me, why was he trying to kill you two?" The village leader asked Li Na and Si Yu. 

"His master… killed our parents. After that, he wanted us to become his slaves. We did not want to become his slaves, and they became angry." Si Yu said whilst wiping his tears. 

"I really can't stand cultivators. How can they be so ruthless?" Li Na followed behind Si Yu and stated. 

The village leader of the third village looked at the two kids and examined their situation. 

Both of them were wearing worn-out and shabby clothes. 

"What do you want to do now?"

"Uh… what can we do now? Nothing, the one who killed our parents is a cultivator, we can't do anything to him."

The old man stopped speaking after listening to this and thought for a moment, after which, he said,

"Do you two want to take your revenge on the one who killed your parents?"

"Huh…, how?" Si Yu looked at the old man with a dumbfounded look.

"I can give you a chance to kill the one who killed your parents."

The old man looked at the two kids after saying this. He was trying to find out how much hatred did the two kids had against the cultivators, 

It was an opportunity for him to recruit two new members to their group. And at that, these two were still kids and could be manipulated easily. So, how could the old man lose this opportunity?

"If it's possible, we are ready."

"Very well, you will stay with me from now on in this residence. You can wait for your training to begin. Moreover, you should change your clothes and eat something. Come with me,"

Li Na and Si Yu followed the village leader.

"Xin Yan," the old man called someone from outside of the room.

"Yes, father, do you need something?" A beautiful and graceful-looking girl came out of the room. Even though she was still young, she had mature behavior and spoke gently.

"These two will be living with us from now on, that's why I wanted you to meet them. While we are at it, also tend to their injuries, and give them new clothes to wear and something to eat. Did you understand?"

"Yes, father, I will do as you say." Xin Yan did not hesitate at all and listened to the old man politely. She wore a gentle, beautiful-looking white Hanfu, and was wearing a small white wreath on her head.

"I will be leaving then," the old man left after saying this.

"You two, come inside,"

"Okay,"

Xin Yan brought the two kids into her room.

"What are your names?"

"My name is Li Na, and my brother's name is Si Yu."

"Oh, you two have such beautiful names. I am sure the one who gave you these names must be elegant with names."

"Really, are our names this beautiful?" 

"Yep, haha," Xin Yan laughed gently after hearing Li Na.

"You have a beautiful name as well, big sister."

"Thanks, I appreciate your compliment." Xin Yan spoke with a smile. 

She also tended to Li Na's and Si Yu's injuries whilst speaking with them. It could be seen that she had a very nice way of dealing with the kids. No wonder, the old man asked her to take care of them instead of the servants.

Both Li Na and Si Yu talked with Xin Yan happily. These two for a moment forgot what they had experienced in the previous two months.

Meanwhile, the person wearing the mask removed his mask and hood, and the person turned out to be Yang Zhai.

Yang Zhai's face had also healed and was normal now. The burn marks he had given himself had already disappeared. The reason behind this was the Perfect stage.

When a cultivator reaches the Perfect stage, all of the faults and defects are removed of the same rank or lower. And as the burn marks on him were of the rank 1 fire, they also got healed when he reached the Perfect stage.

"Everything has been done. Now, let's wait for the results." Yang Zhai sat down and muttered. 

He was in his rented house right now. 

For the previous week, he had been training Si Yu and Li Na. The training was not related to cultivation or anything like this, but acting. And as Si Yu and Li Na hated cultivators to begin with, the emotions they gave out about the cultivators were pure and were not acting. Of course, Yang Zhai was another case in this matter, and they did not hate Yang Zhai.

He did not change their names and asked them to tell their real names to the village leader. If he had given them fake names, then there was a chance that Si Yu and Li Na might —by mistake— say their original names and get caught.

Yang Zhai also did not explain his real plan to Si Yu and Li Na. He had only said that the village leader and a few people were killing other mortals and cultivators. 

So, Si Yu and Li Na had to help him investigate everything about them. If they did not help him get rid of these people, these people might kill more people like they killed Li Na's mother, causing more children to become orphans.

Of course, Yang Zhai had put all of the blame of Li Na's mother's death on the village leader and on the group who killed newly awakened cultivators.

Si Yu and Li Na were also forbidden by Yang Zhai to cultivate or use any cultivation methods. This way, as long as they don't use essence water, their cultivation identities would not be discovered, except if someone possessed a method to detect other cultivators and their ranks.

Yang Zhai put all of his thoughts to the side of his mind and began to cultivate. He had done everything he needed to, now, he just had to wait.

At night,

"Si, sister Xin Yan is so nice and good to us, do you think she is also involved in the murder of my mother?" Li Na asked Si Yu with confusion.

"Shut up Li, didn't brother Fen forbid us from talking about this? So, why are you asking me this? We just have to find out whatever we can and inform brother Fen." Si Yu hurriedly asked Li Na to be quiet.

Both of them were given the room next to Xin Yan. 

Both of them were about to sleep when they heard someone knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" 

"Come with me, the village leader is calling for you."

Li Na and Si Yu looked at each other before opening the door.

They saw a woman standing at the door.

"What does the village leader need from us?"

"Here,"

The woman took them with her and brought them out of the residence. 

Yang Zhai, who as always was hiding outside the village leader's residence, saw this.

Huh, shouldn't they wait before acting?: Yang Zhai found it strange that it was just the first day, and they were already taking Si Yu and Li Na somewhere.
