1 A living hell

she was sleeping on her mat feeling uncomfortable, someome was shaking her , telling her to wake up. she didn't want to listen maybe it was another nightmare. Helen could barely hear the person calling her until she felt a Sharp smack on her cheek. she was slapt by who? she opened her eyes slowly her vision was still blare from her sleep, finally she could see the person who slapt her, it was a black haired woman with brown eyes, she wore a green dress that made her look as if she had gone to a party. The woman looked like she was around her 40's, she looked so beautiful and young that someone would hardly know she was getting old. Helen knew it was her aunt.

"aunt ti...Tina?" Helen blurted out.

"you fool! what are you doing asleep by this time of the day? you are supposed to be doing your chores."

" I'm sorry aunt Tina." Helen said

"sorry for yourself ! how may times have I told you to wake up early?" Tina shouted.

"I can expl.." before Helen could finish her words she was dragged it of her room by her aunt. aunt Tina roughly dragged Helen through the walkway.

"you have been so disobedient to me lately, and for that you shall receive a punishment."

punishment, wasn't this woman tired of punishing her already? she had gone through a lot living with this woman. Helen was adopted by Tina when she was 10 after her parents died. since she came into aunt Tina's house she has been abused by aunt Tina and her two kids Kel and Adora. Helen was treated like in a maid in her aunt's house. she didn't eat well or sleep well, she was never treated like a member of the family, they hated her so much they maltreated her as if she was some stranger.

As Helen grew up everything became worse.

she was not given the life she deserved, sometimes she wished she was dead so that she wouldn't see aunt Tina and her wicked daughters again. But again she had a good heart.

Aunt Tina dragged Helen infront of a kitchen door. aunt Tina pointed a pile of dishes as she spoke. "did I not tell you to wash this plates?" aunt Tina asked

"yes aunt, and I did." Helen said. It wasn't a lie she washed all the plates and did all the other shores in the house, she didn't have enough time to sleep and here this woman was. telling her to wash the plates again

"no you didn't, if you did they wouldn't be piled up with dirt!" Tina stated with anger " now wash them all!" aunt Tina dragged Helen by her arm into the kitchen which made Helen trip and fall on her palm.

"before the day break's you must have been done with this hear me?!" after that Helen heard the door get shut behind her. she got took a plate and started washing them one by one as tears rolled from her eyes down her cheeks. this was too much for her, she couldn't take it anymore. maybe this was another plan to maltreat her again. what did she do wrong to deserve this?

After Helen was done with the dishes she looked outside the window the sky was a mixture of blue and orange the sun was not totally set as the moon could still be seen fading away to give the sun space. Helen did some chores and set breakfast for the other women who were still asleep.

Aunt Tina stepped downstairs slowly as she saw Helen setting the table for breakfast. the food's aroma was pleasing, Helen was really a good cook and she loved how she made her food tastes delicious.

"is breakfast ready?" Tina asked.

Helen rose her head up to see if it was her aunt and it was.

"yes aunt Tina." Helen said

"good, go and call kel and Adora downstairs to join me for dinner."

"ok aunt." Helen left the funny table and hurried upstairs getting to Kel's room she saw Adora there to, they were laughing before Helen interrupted.

"uhm... Kel? Adora? your mother calls for you." Helen said

"excuse me can't you knock?" Kel asks.

Kel was 17 years old the same age with Helen. Kel was the most beautiful amongst the two daughters, she resembled her mother, she had the same black hair, eyes and almost the same face, she was even as cruel as her mother even worse. Kel got up from her bed were she sat next to her sister and walked towards Helen. she scanned Helen from head to toe as if Helen was nothing.

"why didn't you knock?" she gazed at helen

"well your mother called for you and the door was wide open sooo..."

"so what?!" Kel snapped at her .

"let her be sis, don't waste your little energy on this help." it was Adora, she walked towards the two girls. " come let's go eat, mom will be waiting for us." Adora said as she dragged her sister downstairs. Adora was a lazy girl just like her sister. she had no morals and respect for anyone not even her mother. unlike Kel, Adora did not look like her mother, she had blonde hair and hazel eyes, some said she looked like her father. Adora was so childish although she was sixsteen she behaved as if she was ten years old . she loved boys alot, and adored money. to Helen Kel was better than Adora.

Helen served everyone food, they had crumbled eggs, chicken and vegetable salad for breakfast the food was really attractive e everybody started eating while Helen served herself a small quantity of food. when she was about to go to her room her aunt stopped her.

"Helen?!" Tina said

"yes aunt Tina." Helen turned around to look at Tina.

"come and sit with us!" Tina said.

Kel and Adora dropped thier spoons and stared at thier mom, who summoned Helen to sit with them. Helen sat two shares away from Adora.

"why did you tell her to sit with us mother?" Kel asked annoyed.

"I wanted to tell all of you something." Mrs Tina stated as she put her hands under the table. "it's about the king and queen."

"how about them mother?" Adora asked.

"well we will be living for the palace tomorrow, because the Queen and I have agreed that Helen will be her new maiden and you and your sister can be either the Kings or princes concubine." Tina said with a smile on her face

"oh my god! mother I love you so much." Adora stood up from her chair to hug her mother

"I know darling." Tina said.

Helen held her fist tight. they were happy except for Helen. Helen was angry that she would become a maid in the Kings palace.

they were set for work. Tina owned a bar which was really famous and that's what made her rich. Tina was well known by people for her good service and different rich people visited the bar.

The music that was being played in the bar was really loud people danced to the music, men and women laughed enjoying the scene of the bar. Tina and her daughter kel sat and watched Helen do all the work with the other workers in the bar. at the other side of the bar were the music was a little low, Adora was busy talking to a boy who wast even listening to her, he was staring at someone else. Adora traced his eyes to see who it was. it was Helen he was staring at.

"what's her name?" the man asks.

"Helen." Adora grints

her teeth .

"Helen, she's a real beauty." the man said not taking his eyes of the brown haird girl

"shut up." Adora said with anger .

Adora got up from her sit and headed towards Helen. Helen was about to pass when Adora set her foot for Helen to trip on. successfully, she tripped and aost fell when someone caught her by waist.
