1 Entrance Exam

It was a glorious day for those of the human society, with the retreat of the Elves in the west it allowed for a temporary period of peace which explained the festival like atmosphere in this city. Carriages could be seen coming in droves for one reason or another but most were here for only one reason, to take the Entrance exam into one of the Big Six.

The Big Six being the top six Schools to learn the Magus arts, it is from these illustrious institutions that the brightest minds of humanity were produced. It was the dream of many to enter any one of these schools but only few were able to make the cut.

These Six Academies were known as Flamel, De Soules, Bezalel, Babel, Baal Shem, Atomus. These Six Academies were the backbone of the human race and the hope for a brighter future. It was the hopes of hundreds if not thousands to be permitted entry into one of these fine institutes and it was here that Faust hoped to make his debut.

A boy from a smaller village he had astounded his fellows with his ability to use magic and with great hopes placed upon him the village as a whole had come together to fund his trip. Determination burned in his eyes as he took in the sights all around him with great interest, he was barely thirteen this year and had his whole life ahead of him as he hoped to make a name for himself by gaining entry into one of these Holy establishments. Looking ahead he saw the entry way towards the Examination area when his carriage suddenly came to a stop outside.

"You can get off here, only those with magic can go beyond those walls unless specifically permitted" called the Driver.

"Thank you so much for your hard work" called Faust as he hopped off the carriage tossing a few silver coins into the man's hands.

Faust lugged his pack onto his shoulder and ran excitedly past the gate and felt an odd presence pass through him causing a bit of worry to appear on his face.

"It's just the Phasion barrier, it is a key part in measuring one's magical ability and also part of the Entrance exam" called an older man waiting at the side of the entrance.

Faust nodded in awe at the prospects of Magic as he continued walking until he found himself standing at the doors of a large building. Smiling he wasted no time as he tried to push open the large door but with no success, huffing with a bit of anger he tried again only to hear laughter from behind him.

"Look at him, isn't it cute to watch the common dribble attempt to open the Door of Potential" laughed a rather dashing looking youth who walked passed Faust and lightly pressed against the door causing it to open stunning Faust.

"This is difference between us plebeian, go back to your alley and leave the Magic to the real Magus" laughed the youth as the doors slammed behind him.

'Plebeian huh, we'll see about that. I just have to find a way into the building because the rules never stated how one was to get in' chuckled Faust as he backed away from the door and looked around but alas he found no windows to jump through but it seemed as if the door was just an outer wall.

Smiling to himself Faust jumped a couple times to stretch his legs before concentrating a bit, his mind was easily cleared as that was his strong suit. Quickly he felt the Mana circling around him and flowing through his body bringing a familiar warmth to him and with a mighty leap he soared through the sky and over the Door of Potential landing steps ahead of the cocky youth.

"You should go home to your mom princess" laughed Faust as he continued forward leaving the cocky youth behind him.

Faust couldn't be bothered to say much else to the boy as he had only one goal and that was to gain entry into one of the Big Six, he couldn't care less for some rich boy throwing a tantrum. As long as he didn't get in his way there would be nothing more than words between them, Faust soon came upon another entry way but this time there was no door merely words written across the Archway.

'Door of Insight, where one must have potential to start their journey as a Magus it is in fact their insight that will carry them the distance' read the Archway.

Faust chuckled wordlessly as he he walked through the door causing a flash to erupt and he was suddenly sitting in a large auditorium surrounded by others.

"I would first like to congratulate you all for passing the entrance exam" started an old man at the front but Faust felt something was off about the situation and tried to feel his Mana to circulate it.

The result of this did spark a bit of anger as he purged the foreign Mana from his body and found that cocky youth walking away with a laugh. Faust frowned and just ran forward causing loud steps to be heard, the cocky youth turned around and was met with a heavy strike.

Faust was from a poor village and was used to tough labor making his body stronger than this lad that had been raised in luxury, with that said the strike sent the youth straight off his feet.

"Do it again and I'll make sure you leave crying to your mom" stated Faust grabbing the youth by the front of his collar before tossing him to the side and actually passing through the Arch of Insight.

Just as Faust had suspected it wouldn't be over just by walking through a few passages and he was now sitting in front of a group of elders.

"This one is quite interesting, yes?" started one as they seemed to be looking into a crystal ball depicting what seemed like his whole life.

"Indeed but I don't think he would it in at my beloved Flamel" said the second.

"Nor my Babel" answered an older woman

"He wouldn't survive my Baal Shem" huffed a larger man

"Atomus rejects this prospect" sighed another woman

"Bezalel wouldn't do for your growth young one" stated a humble looking old man with a sad smile.

"That is fine because he would shine at my De Soules, it just goes to show that you fools are going blind in your old age" laughed a happy go lucky looking old man who had spoken originally.

"That's it" asked Faust doubtfully

"What did you expect to slay a dragon, cocky aren't you" sneered the older of the two women causing Faust to glare at her dangerously.

"Be careful your face doesn't stick like that, you'd be uglier than you are now" spat Draig causing the entire table to laugh at their comrades expense.

"Is it too late to change my mind" hollered the second of the women wiping a tear from her eye.

"Shit, come on brat" shouted the Master of De Soules as he and Faust disappeared as fire burned the chair to a crisp.

Faust and the old man appeared at a whole new location and as soon as they did, the would be Magus looked around dizzily before gaining his bearing's.

"You got guts kid but be sure to respect your elders here because your upperclassmen won't be so reserved when insulted. Anyways I would give you a tour but I have more prospects to recruit in that sense here's your guide book and your dorm number, I will let my familiar to escort you the rest of the way" explained the Master De Soules before disappearing again in his place a weasel was left and it wasted no time as it began scurrying in a random direction forcing Faust to follow lest he get lost along the way.

'Damn old man, kinda rushing things aren't you' cursed Faust mentally but deep down he was grinning as he had in fact made it into one of the Big Six though it was the bottom of the Six but still Big Six was Big Six.

'Can't believe I really made it' smiled Faust attempting to keep up with the weasel.
