2 CHAPTER 2: DELIVERING HIMSELF TO HER

While she thought of what to do to teach those people a lesson, Calista didn't forget to finish her chores.

Although she loved hiring other people to fetch her firewood, water for drinking, bathing or gardening and bringing game meat to her once in a while, her home was a scary place.

She cleaned her house and tended to what needed to be tended to solely.

If she doesn't do that at least, wouldn't she grow mold?

So, when she was done hanging the clothes to allow them to dry, Calista went to the kitchen where she rekindled the fire and placed a huge cauldron which she used to boil water over the fire and left.

Calista's place wasn't that complicated actually, but it wasn't a place that could be easily visited.

When she came to stay in Cropville Village, she didn't want to keep on staying at other people's places and wanted to stay in her own place.

Susan's father back then was willing to help her, so he told her about the hill in his name that he wasn't using, and Calista took a liking to it.

The hill was a distance away from the village and by staying there; she didn't have to worry about coming across the villagers, who obviously weren't her fans.

She wasn't delusional enough to not see that a lot of people didn't like her. So, she didn't want to interact much with her or to bump into them and find faults with them.

After gaining access to build her house on the hill, Calista found the most reputable masons in the district and instructed them to build her a sturdy tree house with three floors.

Apart from the three-story treehouse, there was the round kitchen where she cooked and stored some of her kitchen utensils for daily use.

There was an outhouse and an outer bathroom which she barely used since she has a bathroom in the house.

On the other part of the hill, there was the garden and the chicken coop with just a few birds to keep up appearances.

The tree house has three floors, with the ground floor being the storage area where she keeps all her tools and firewood.

In order to get to the first floor, there was a staircase built from the ground to that floor to allow for easy access.

On the first floor, there was the inside kitchen, where she kept most of the kitchen utensils and food. The pantry where she keeps untouched grains and other food yet to be eaten.

There was also the central room which she barely used since she was alone most of the time and then a guest bedroom.

On the second floor, there was the main bedroom, which took most of the place. It had a bedroom space, a huge wardrobe with many shelves, a cabinet and a study area with a bookshelf, a desk and a chair.

Another guest bedroom was also on the floor, with only a bed and a cabinet. Lastly, there was the bathroom which she uses all the time as bathing outside is not something that she likes doing a lot.

After doing laundry and fishing, her body stank a bit, and she wanted to get rid of that filthy first before starting cooking.

Calista was a person who took taking care of herself seriously. Which was why in just seven days, she would use nearly two huge barrels of water when bathing.

Calista rummaged through her wardrobe and picked a black dress from the shelf and a change of innerwear.

She carried them to the bathroom where she hung them on a hanger before picking a wooden bucket which was stationed next to a huge wooden tub used for bathing.

Calista then left the bathroom and the house altogether and returned to the kitchen.

Calista took the boiling water from the cauldron and carried it back to the bathroom on the second floor, where she took a bath before changing into the dress she had picked earlier.

When she was done, she headed for the first floor to the kitchen where she started picking the ingredients, she wanted to use that evening to prepare a meal for herself.

After picking everything she needed, she went down the tree house and walked to the kitchen where another small pot of hot water was already waiting for her.

Busying herself in the kitchen as she looked at the fresh fish she hadn't dealt with, suddenly a boom sound resounded forcing Calista to place the knife she was holding in her hands in the dish in front of her.

"Who is that daring to force his way into the shield!?" she murmured as she wiped her hands on a wet cloth next to her.

Calista took her time to leave the kitchen. She wasn't in a hurry to see who was daring to intrude in her place. After all, any place can be so dangerous but not the hill. That place was her fortress and unless she wished for it, no one would be able to force their way there.

It was that secure.

Calista calmly left the kitchen and immediately saw the small kitten of hers that loves disappearing most of the time, licking its paws at the side of the kitchen.

"I haven't seen you in days, little guy!" she dotingly said as she lowered herself to pick up the white kitten.

"Meow!"

Calista dotingly tapped the little guy's nose before carrying it in the direction where the intrusion happened.

"Whitey, tell me. Who do you think came this time?"

"Is it possible that the deities sent me a free delivery again this time?" she mumbled to herself as she recalled the several times, small and big preys sent themselves to her door.

Thanks to their relentless deliveries, she could earn a lot of meat and money at the same time.

And now that her rabbit meat was about to finish, could it be that another wild animal had come?

If it was a human being, hehe, that person would be so daring that she would want to know what made him or her so daring to want to come at her.

However, Calista never expected her intuition to be that spot on.

"Meow!" Whitey cried out as he jumped out of her arms, sauntering towards the bloody figure lying beside a shimmering wall invisible to the eye.

Calista walked towards the bloody figure and waved her hand, forcing the shield to give way.

She crouched in front of the bloody figure and turned him over.

'Oh! My wonderful deity is this the answer to that problem of mine!' she mused as she looked at the bloodied man's face.

What a beautiful way to start a counterattack!
