5 Chapter 3 (II): Awakening

Merely looking at the children here and how they were so composed and well mannered unlike other civilian children, Kazi was really impressed. If anything, it showed how this was a fighting clan filled with killers and all that.

Soon, someone came in to greet them and to brief them on what they were to do. He simply appeared out of nowhere, leaving just a small trail of dust that showed that he hadn't just teleported. Kazi was very intrigued and this captivated him. He had thought that outpacing a horse was something, now this was even better. The man wearing a green uniform like clothing explained to them how the entire process would go, before disappearing before their eyes.

'I'm even more excited now. He is able to move that fast but does not cause any sonic boom or gust of wind.' It was clear that physics had once again been ignored, not that it mattered not, after all, it was probably the effect of ora.

'Though this new world doesn't have what I crave, it's good enough if I can possess superhuman and magical abilities.'

One after another, the kids were called into a separate area where they would stay for at most five minutes, then they would come out, go to their parents or whoever brought them, and that was it, they could return home. Kazi was very curious as to what went on in there, after all, the man from earlier mentioned that this particular day was the Clan Awakening day, where those clan children that have come of age would get their first chance at awakening their clan's bloodline trait.

Finally, it was Kazi's turn. He stole a glance at his mother who seemed to be shaking a bit as he moved towards the other area. She was quite the loving and caring mother who dotted on her son, maybe too much. He just shook his head in pity before entering. Some might have perceived it as him encouraging himself and shaking off worrying thoughts.

Kazi went through a small passage and soon came to the other area where he met two people. They were for sure, sutori of the clan, but he couldn't tell what their rank was, after all he had no way of telling another's strength, which was also the reason why he was unsure of his own strength.

Contrary to what he thought would happen in there, they only provided him with a pill to swallow, then gave him a separate one to take at midnight, along with other instructions. He was also taught a technique and memorised it before leaving. It didn't hurt at all in anyway, and after he was done, he left with his mother who didn't let him rest with question after question of how he was.

He was told that he would fall asleep until it was time and so did he. It seemed to be an effect of the pill he took earlier. His mother couldn't help but worry still. She brought him back and left him to sleep in his room while she checked on him from time to time.

Around midnight when the moon was fully up in all its glory, sending subtle chill light down upon the face of the earth, the children in the Divara clan were not at all asleep. They all woke up at the same time, just as they were told.

Kazi woke up feeling light headed, but the feeling quickly subsided. He couldn't tell why but everything around him felt weird and different. His senses were in shambles it seemed.

Just like he was told to do, he left the house immediately through his room window, as he didn't want to wake his mother up, he could somehow hear her sleeping in her room. Dealing with one problem was tough enough.

As for where he would go, he already had a place in mind. Though, this would be his first time entering the forest around. Since these forests were safe with no beasts or wild animals. He wasn't too worried about running into someone there, as this was within the clan's territory and they would not allow anyone disturb the process.

Kazi began moving towards the forest. One thing he noticed ever since he woke up was the fact that his hearing had gotten way better, maybe too good. He also felt lightheaded from time to time and would even stumble as he walked. He avoided any place he could feel would be noisy, even though it was the middle of the night, it didn't mean the town would be asleep.

After some minutes, he finally made his way to the forest lines. He found that there were several people around, all his around his age. They all were heading for the forest, the only difference being that they seemed to be more composed than he was.

Seeing the other kids like this, Kazi couldn't continue to show weakness himself. After all, he was sure that the others also experienced all the discomfort as him, but they could still maintain their calm and walk straight.

He went deep enough into the forest until he could only hear the sounds of small animals around and gentle wind whistling through the forest leaves and branches. 'This should be good enough.' He brought out the second pill he was given and ate.

Slowly, fierce energy rose within him towards his head. It came with heat, causing the feeling of his head exploding to become ever present. He immediately went into position and sat crossed legged on the forest floor and immediately began practicing the technique he had been taught to memorise earlier.

Reciting it in his mind caused the feeling of having an inflated head to cool down until it disappeared.

Time passed quickly. Kazi wasn't sure how much time had passed, but when he opened his eyes, it felt like he had only sat there for ten minutes. The strange feeling in his head was gone, but his super hearing was still present. He wasn't sure, but this was probably the bloodline they spoke of.

'According to what I know from earth, this bloodline thing should give me some advantage in combat and all...' He was satisfied. Though, the problem now was how to control it.

"You can't control it?" He heard a voice come from above, though with his sensitive hearing, it was a little everywhere at first.

Kazi looked up and spotted a young boy around his age standing on a tree branch. He wore similar clothing to mot clan kids, a grey shirt and brown trousers, and sandals for shoes. He couldn't really tell, but the boy's face appeared to be normal, unlike that of a typical child.

"Your so called bloodline is more of a technique. Approaching it that way might help.. See you around." The boy said.

Kazi was shocked to see the boy disappear from where he stood on the sturdy tree branch. 'This must be the same technique that guy from earlier used!'

It was indeed weird, and it also seemed like the boy looked down on his clan as well, 'or was he just trying to help?' He didn't care for now and just followed the advice he had received for free. To his surprise, it was really effective.

. . .

Time passed, and soon it was time for him to start attending the academy for the young children. One could enrol once they turned 6, so Kazi didn't want to miss it. His mother was a little bit against the it as she didn't like the idea of him becoming a sutori, but it was already too late.

He had awakened the clan bloodline, or as he saw it, learned their technique, he was already on his road to achieving ultimate power in this new life. His mother wasn't going to stop him, hence, "tomorrow, it's back to school day... For me."
