177 Return to School

[Yuito's POV]

The winter sky was clear and unclouded, making the day brighter and the world wider than it actually was. The sun was shining from the sky with persistent heat in the frigid atmosphere and gave everything a piece of its warmth.

The shades were too cold while sunny spots were too hot. It was like the black and white squares on a chess board, some parts were hot while others were too cold. There was no moderation.

But Marin preferred hot over the cold so we avoided the shades and walked directly under the sun. Her cold fingers seek warmth in mine as our fingers intertwine.

"Haaaaaa~" Marin was blowing out hot puffs of air and watched with a playful smile as her breath turned into smoke under the sunlight.

"Yuito, look." She said, acting like she was smoking a cigarette with the smoke she could create with her breath.

"Cool right?" She asked me with a childish smile. I laughed and imitated her actions, blowing out hot puffs of air that turned into smoke.

We laughed together as we continued walking towards the school. Halfway through the way, we met with Komi who was waiting for us on a different road.

There was nothing awkward or weird going on between us as we acted normally like we had done before. Marin did not notice it either as all walked together.

It was a peaceful morning and a peaceful walk, but that all ended when we reached our school as every eye turned towards us.

It was no wonder there were many people staring as each one of us was popular in our own right.  Marin was a beautiful girl, the dreams of many who was also a successful model and vivacious.

Komi was the ice queen of perfection who every student admired and idolized. Then there was me, the popular fighter who looks as good as he fights, and coming off another victory in an international tournament.

It was not only eyes but lenses that were pointed toward us as people took videos and pictures like we were celebrities or something. This one might be due to me as I was still trending internationally.

But with a quick glare, the few who had their phones out put it away. It was not allowed to bring or use mobile phones while on campus so the ones who had it were few.

We entered the school building and Marin gave me a peck on my cheek before separating since we were in different classes.

The school system in Japan was quite different, instead of the students having to move from one class to another, the students taking similar subjects were seated in one classroom for the whole year.

"Let's go." I turned to Komi who immediately blushed when I got close to her. Most wouldn't be able to notice it but the end of her ears and the tip of her nose were slightly red.

We went into our classroom and we went to our own seats. This time, I went to the protagonist's seat at the back near the window and Komi sat beside me.

I sighed and slumped down on my seat, although there was nothing awkward or strange atmosphere, I was very conscious about walking with Komi and Marin.

I really should deal with this too. I could invite Marin to our house or go on an afterschool date before breaking the news to her.

'Hey Marin, I got news for you. Apparently, I, your boyfriend, am actually a scumbag and want a harem. I kissed Komi yesterday too.' 

Eh, that sounds about right.

"Yuito." I heard a sweet voice call my name and I immediately turned to Komi. She was still blushing and her eyes were too shy to meet me.

(Do you sleep well last night?) she gestured with her hands while looking at me. "Sleep." she also said.

Aww that was adorable. It seemed like Komi wanted to have a conversation with me so I turned my chair towards her.

"I slept well." I said with a smile, "And I dreamt about you." 

She blushed harder while shyly pointing at herself, (Me too.)

She was noticeably more shy toward me than on other days. It was probably because of what happened yesterday.

I had forgotten as Komi and I had known each other for quite some time but, Komi was adorable when she was shy.

We spent the morning together like that before the bell rang and homeroom started. 

Homeroom was quite a busy affair as it was the first day of school after the holidays. There were quite a few things to discuss including appointing a new class representative.

The teacher selected qualified candidates which also included Komi and we voted for the leader.  In the end, Komi did not get many votes after she expressed her hesitance towards being the leader.

Our new class representative was a girl who attracted my attention quite a bit. Her name was Chizuru and she was one of the many girls the author wanted for me to date before I met Komi.

Chizuru and my mother held quite a lot of similarities. She had eyes that mixed between pink and purple along with long purple hair.

She was one of the more beautiful girls in school but she was not so popular because of her uptight and strict personality.

Her body was also very developed for her age but she hid it well with her prim and proper uniforms with the way she carried herself.

{Ummm...I didn't realize it before but she looks familiar.} The author said while we watched Chizuru giving a speech to the whole class.

She had impeccable confidence, I would give her that.

'Familiar? Yeah, she looks like my mom.'

{No, not just that. I can't put a finger on it but I will look into it.}

I shrugged and school went along pretty normally from then on to my joy. It was the first day of school and from how things were looking, it would be another peaceful session.

That was good, I don't need unnecessary drama in my life other than the ones I made on my own.

We did not study much today and most of the teachers were more interested on asking us about our projects and how we spent our holidays. Luckily, as I thought the teachers did not punish me when I said I did not do my projects.

They gave me time to complete it. 

It was a clear show of favoritism but no one complained. Everyone knew the school's reputation when they decided to enter it. Merits held power in this school.

After school ended, we met up with Marin and like usual, the three of us went home together. The only difference was that I insisted on walking Komi home to her house.

We reached Komi's house and she waved us farewell before going to her house. We stood just outside the gate of her house,

After Komi was gone, I turned towards Marin.

"Let's go on a date."

She smiled, "Sure!! When are we going?"

I grabbed her hand and smiled at her, "Now."

"I have some things to talk about as well."
