44 Chapter 42 - Weighing of the Wands pt. 3

"This wand is equivalent to the mythical elder wand?" Ollivander whispered to himself in awe of his Grandfather's creation.
Such extremely opposite natures, able to exist in perfect harmony within this wand… needless to say Ollivander's reverence for his grandfathers skills increased even more.
Unfortunately for Khan, the judges were close enough to overhear.
"Pardon me Garrick..." Dumbledore says with a twinkle of curiosity in his eyes. "Did you just say that Jordan's wand is equivalent to the elder wand?"
"Indeed Albus!"
"But isn't that wand just a myth?" Khan cut in and asked, remembering his 3rd keeper trial involving the 3 Deathly Hallows.
Dumbledore meanwhile, thought of the wand currently in his wand holster.
It was of course the Elder wand itself, which he had won off his former friend and lover Grindelwald, in 1945.
Appearing quite similar to Khan's wand in appearance, The elder wand possessed Dark knotted elder wood and was quite unassuming. Combined with a Thestral tail hair core, and created by death itself, the Elder wand is representation of Death's magical power, given form in a wand.
Dumbledore knew himself, how powerful the Deathly Hallows were. Harry's invisibility Cloak and His Elder wand were the 2 most powerful magical artifacts he had ever encountered. And being over a century old, Dumbledore had encountered a lot of various artifacts.
So the fact that Khan's wand was possibly equivalent to the Elder Wand was quite shocking to Dumbledore.
'Perhaps it has something to do with his unique magical abilities.' Dumbledore mused to himself, in awe once again of his Mentor's best friend.
"No.... actually it is perfectly possible to trace the wand's course through history. There are gaps of course, but there are many well documented reports and books that I and other wandmakers have made it our business to study." Ollivander answered Khan. "The Elder wand you see, has a unique temperament; It gave its loyalty to whoever could win it from its previous master."
"Many people took this to mean killing of course, and as such, the wand's history is quite bloody, arousing the passions in various power hungry wizards." Ollivander continued. "Whether it NEEDS to pass by murder, or simply disarming/stunning, I do not know. But it is an immensely power and dangerous object, and a source of incredible fascination to all of us who study wandlore."
"But.... aren't the Hallows just based on a children's book?" Khan asked once again. "Does that mean the Invisibility Cloak and the Resurrection Stone are real as well?"
"It is indeed quite possible Jordan, that the Deathly Hallows are real in its entirety." Dumbledore responded, twinkle in his eyes. "But that is a story for later. It is now time for dinner!"
Ollivander tenderly hands Khan back his wand, before he went back to his seat.
"The Weighing of the Wands has been completed." Dumbledore announced in his official capacity once Khan had retaken his seat. "Thank you all for coming. You may all head down to the Great h-"
"PHOTOS! Dumbledore! Photos!" Cried Bagman excitedly. "All the judges and Champions, what do you think, Rita?"
"Er - Yes... Let's do those first then." Rita replied from her corner, while getting up to talk to her photographer.
The photographs took a long time.
Fleur had insisted on taking some Champion couple photos with Khan.
Harry was targeted once again by Rita, as she attempted to sneakily ask him a few questions during his solo photoshoot.
Krum was used to photoshoots, being a professional quidditch player, and quickly turned his brain off as he usually does during these events.
Khan meanwhile, was lost in his thoughts about the Deathly Hallows and the 3rd Legacy Keeper trial from Headmistress Niamh Fitzgerald.
He remembered the elder wand's power during that odd dream sequence, and was familiar with the children's story 'The Beetle and the Bard' that the sequence was based after.
Trying to find his friend who was lost, Khan remembered sneaking through the oddly drawn town, and using the 3 Deathly Hallows to evade and even fight Death and his minions.
However, even with all his powerful tools and honed combat prowess, his friend still ended up dying at the end of the legacy trial.
Khan remembered this trial specifically, as its lesson heavily related to his Best friend Sebastian, and his situation with his sister. And it was one of the lessons from the keepers that Khan didn't completely agree with.
Similar to Sebastian's bastard uncle Soloman, the Keepers were of the mindset that things in life are inevitable, and sometimes, nothing can be done, no matter how powerful the magic, or magical artifact.
Whereas Khan and Sebastian were of the opinion that his sister, who was suffering from a curse (which Khan later found out, Rookwood had casted) could be cured somehow..... it could've been that the cure/counter-curse had not been discovered yet.
Especially with Khan's growing skill with ancient magic, he previously held hope that he could cure Anne from her curse, once his skills were mastered.
Unfortunately, he had slipped into a coma before he could even try, and with Anne still presumably suffering from the curse after his coma, he doubted she was still alive during this current time.
Khan of course, understood why the Keepers were trying to teach him that lesson, especially after uncovering Isadora's history with Sebastian.
The entire point and lesson behind the trial the keepers were trying to teach Khan was that, magic, no matter how powerful, cannot fix everything.....
Unfortunately, Isadora had gotten obsessed with trying to save her father, and using ancient magic to take away his pain. And while her intentions may have started out good, instead of just taking away his pain, she took away his emotions too, leaving him no more than an emotionless husk.
Isadora however, was undeterred, and truly believed she was helping people. She had begun treating Hogwarts students as well, absorbing all their pain and emotions as a red energy, and storing it into a large piece of goblin metal, she had learned could store the ancient magic.
That large piece of goblin metal would go on to become the final repository under Hogwarts where Khan was in a coma the past 100 years.
Isadora of course, would eventually be stopped by the keepers, who would go on to create the legacy trials Khan had experienced, to ensure one's character.
Khan however, suspected that the keepers were simply traumatized due to Isadora's actions. While her execution was poor, and she had become obsessed by the end, she had originally intended to do good by helping her father.
She had simply gone too far and pushed too much, instead of doing proper research and experimentation.
Khan however refused to believe that things in life were inevitable. That it was something like fate or destiny that guided all the results, regardless of how prepared or how researched you were.
Just look at the Muggles. They had no magic, yet they were somehow able to travel to the moon (according to Hermione anyways..... she promised to show him a few muggle books to prove it).
Fate made it so they would not have any magic. So how is it that Muggles were able to accomplish things wizards never thought possible, without said magic?
No.... Khan rejected the idea of destiny. Khan would learn and take lessons from both the Keepers and Isadora. He would not become obsessed, but he would also not be scared into inaction, simply because something is unknown or undiscovered.

Time quickly passed over the next few days, and the first task was slowly creeping up on the champions.
Khan, forever the studious student, had managed to work a daily early morning work out / training session into his routine, in preparation for it.
Not to mention, On top of preparing for the first task, Khan also wanted to take the opportunity to experiment and figure out exactly what changes occurred as a result of his absorbing the repository and falling into a coma.
After only 3 weeks of daily work outs and experimentation, what Khan found baffled him.
Mentally speaking, was a big difference.
Khan already had realized that he was a lot more emotionally driven. This resulted in him lashing out in anger and rage, completely opposite of how he previously acted.
He could only imagine how bad it would've been if he had this anger problem previously.
For example, Khan highly detested Solomon Sallow, Sebastian's uncle. Not only had he given up on Anne, but he was completely rude and paranoid, going so far as to actively discourage both himself and Sebastian from pursuing a cure for Anne.
He remembered the first time he had even met Solomon. Khan had accompanied Sebastian to meet his sister, and hopefully bring her spirits up with a shrivelfig, which was known to help with curses.
While Anne was clearly happy with her gift from Sebastian, Solomon had interrupted them, even vanishing the shrivelfig.
Khan had even gone to visit Anne after a particularly nasty fight between Sebastian and his uncle, and Solomon had locked Anne inside their cottage in Feldcroft, like some kind of criminal!
If Khan had these emotional control issues previously, with Solomon's previous actions, and his fondness for Anne, perhaps he would have been the one to kill Solomon, and not Sebastian himself.
Magically speaking, he had discovered quite a few differences, but not managed to completely uncover all his changes.
One of the first things he had noticed was that magic was stronger. Ancient magic, regular spells, even the 3 unforgivables, his dark magic, was stronger.
As previously mentioned, Khan himself had decided to stop when they had found the relic, and Sebastian had began to show signs of instability. Already having ancient magic, Khan was always weary of the effect dark magic may have, not only on his mental state (as evidenced by the clearly deteriorating Sebastian), but also on his unique ability to wield unique ancient magic.
For some reason, during the numerous pensieve memories he has viewed at least, the Keepers, and even Isadora utilized ancient magic in a completely different way than himself. The Keepers utilized their ancient magic to create: Plant life, towering structures, and Autonomous giant guardian golems to name a few.
Khan however was able to utilize his ancient magic in a completely unique way, one that he had yet to view in any pensieve memory. Khan could use his Ancient magic with a dizzying amount of variety. He was able to cast Lightning as well as a fire blast with his ancient magic, grab and throw things/people with his ancient magic, utilize his ancient magic to move quickly (flash step), increase his combat potion's potency, Hell..... even his unique 'Insta-casting' method was made possible with ancient magic.
Ancient magic is what gave Khan his advantage. He would never forgive himself, if he gave all that up, simply for delving too deep into dark magic.
Not to say that Khan would never USE Dark Magic SPELLS. He would just be very selective about using them. He still had every intention of using the unforgivables against his most hated enemies, like Rookwood. Dark magic Research, relics and rituals however, was a different story entirely.
Another thing he noticed, was that his magical core felt strengthened and quite a bit larger than before.
While a normal wizards' magical core would go through a maturation at the age of 11 (in line with the start of a child's magical education), Khan was a bit different in that his core matured at the age of 15.
While he originally did not know the reason, when learning of Isadora and Professor Rakham and them too starting school at the age of 15, he suspected that their late magical core maturities were due to them having to synthesize with ancient magic, granting them the capability to wield and use ancient magic.
It appeared that synthesizing with that much ancient magic from under Hogwarts expanded his core once again causing it to go through a second maturity of sorts.
Perhaps it also came with new ancient magic abilities….. although Khan had yet to discover any. (A/N: il take some ancient magic suggestions here. Please make it similar spells to game... not like summon dragon or something crazy LOL)
Physically speaking, it appeared that his body had remained the same biologically, albeit with a much quicker recovery time. This of course sped up his training.
His 3 weeks of training was surprisingly more than enough time for Khan to regain his former physical conditioning when he was fighting and adventuring everyday.
Unfortunately he just did not have any time compared to his previous year at Hogwarts. Khan's responsibilities as a Jr. Prof. did not stop even though he was a champion, nor did his OWLs or NEWTs exams get pushed back.
This resulted in Khan being extra busy with his OWL studies, the teaching of his various classes, and his extra training/work out sessions for the triwizard tournament, with not much free time for his various interests.
Speaking of busy, Khan also had a few things he was planning...
'Geminio!' Khan casted the doubling charm on a stack of papers sitting on his desk.
It was approximately 1 week until the date of the first task, and luckily the school had a Hogsmeade weekend.
He was quite busy in preparation for that weekend specifically actually.
Not only was Khan was excited to check up on his shop, and finally examine the state of the current economy, but this trip would also allow him the opportunity to accomplish a few other things.
Grabbing the 2 stacks of doubled papers off his desk, he looked them over once again, making sure the wording was legible, and the poster looked appropriate and eye-catching, before quickly hurrying out of the RoR with them.
'The poster looks quite flashy!' Khan thought to himself happily as he read it over:
