8 Training on a ship, what could go wrong?

It's been three days since our departure fo Menageria, and things have been difficult. Not only did we train with Sienna, but she was harsh when training us.

Blake would stay with me all the time, not wanting to leave my side. This made the relationship between her and Sienna difficult.

I began to think they'll start hating each other, well, Blake already disliked her the first time we met, but with how she's treating me and her, I wouldn't be surprised if they want to kill one another.

"Aiko, don't doze off!" I was then hit in the head with a staff, thanks to Sienna and I held my head in pain.

"Sorry!" Was all I said before I got swepped off my feet and landed on my back.

"The enemy won't care for your apologies, you either fight, or die." She said and swung the staff in her hands towards me.

I then rolled to the side, barely getting hit by the staff and pulled my tail's to the side as well.

Speaking of tails, I've somewhat grown a pet peeve. Anytime I see my tails are covered in any dust or dirt, the first thing in my mind is to clean them.

I thought that I was a simple thing that I disliked and threw it to the back of my head. But this happened constintly when ever I saw it with a small amount of dirt.

So, I carry with me a bag of cleaning supplies to make sure I can clean it. Luckily, it dosent affect me when I'm in battle so I didn't have to worry about stopping and cleaning.

However, I felt that this would make me narcassitic, so I had to figure out a way to not be arrogant in the future.

"Your daydreaming again!" I was smacked on my head again by Sienna and held my face, luckily I had aura or I would have had a broken nose.

Sienna's training was much harsher than Ghira's. The reason why, is because Ghira would give me and Blake a break when we are tired, but with Sieena, she would make us keep training until it was lunch.

"Alright, that's enough, get some food, relax for a bit, and get back here on deck when your done." She said and left us on the floor, Ilia then rushed to our side and began to apply some numbing gel to ease the pain.

"Thanks Ilia, if it weren't for you, I would be limping, while Blake would be crying." I said and winced when I felt her hand in my skin.

"S-sorry, I'll try to be more gentle." I just looked at her and shook my head.

"It's fine, we chose to do this." I replied and sat on the floor while wincing in pain, after Ilia was done, she made her way to Blake and began the process again.

Only this time, Blake would sob quietly fr the touch, no matter how gentle Ilia touched her. I had to stay by Blake's side for a few minutes and patted her head to calm her down.

"I-it hurts." She quietly sobbed while she had her head on my lap, Ilia looked down in guilt, but I smiled and gently massaged Blake's ears.

"It's okay, we have some time before we go back to training." I replied and gently helped Blake stand up, the two of us then left to the lunch room to get some food.

Blake sobbed along the way and most of the crew gave us looks of pity, all did was look at them with a glare and they walked away with shame.

'Don't give us that look if your not going to do anything.' I thought and continued to guide Blake.

Once we arrived, I had Blake sit down and asked Ilia to get us some food. As she left, I sat next to her and began to massage her ears.

"Better?" Blake nodded at what I did and began to purr, Ilia soon returned to us and handed us two plates.

For Blake, she had fish with some vegetables on the side. I wasn't surprised since she is part cat, but the vegetables was on my part.

Blake would always try to not eat her vegetables, saying how they taste bad and aren't fish.

It was difficult to convince her at first, but thanks to mom's cooking skills, we were able to make some fish shaped carrots.

"T-thank you." Was all Blake said before she began to eat her food, on my plate, was some cooked salmon, and some rabbit.

How I got rabbits is a story for another time, but I enjoyed it and made sure to clean myself and Blake.

"How is it?" Asked Ilia, she was holding her hands together and looked nervous. I stopped and wiped my mouth and gave Ilia a thumbs up.

"It's perfect, just make sure to not cook the fish for too long." I said, Ilia smiled at my only request and soon left to get her own plate.

"Aiko, why does Sienna treat us harsher than dad?" Blake asked me while she nibbled her fish and vegetables.

"It's because she wants us to be safe, if we don't know how to fight back, they'll split us apart." I answered.

Blakes eyes held fear and she instantly latched onto me and hid her face on my chest. Her ears lowered and she began to shiver in fear.

"I don't want to be taken away, I don't want to lose you, mom, or dad." Her voice was quiet and she was scared.

I placed my hand on her head and began to rub her head, this slowly calmed her down, but she didn't move her head.

"It's okay, as long as we stick together, we can face anything, even Sienna's training." Blake only nodded her head and pulled herself away to finish her food.

Ilia soon came back and saw how happy Blake looked while she ate her fish, when she turned to me, I had a small smile on my face as well.

'Yes, it turned out well.' She thought and the three of us began to enjoy our food. As we enjoyed our food, Sieena soon joined us and began to eat her food as well.

Blake looked down, not wanting to make any eye contact with Sienna. The atomosphere was tense as the four of us ate, but it soon dispersed when the captain of the ship arrived.

"Hey, hey, what's with all the tense vibe? Its thick enough to cut it with a knife." She complained.

Sienna just sighed and held her face in her hands, her ears flatten and she looked away in annoyance.

"It's nothing Evelyn, just some bad first impressions." The captain names Evelyn whistled and pulled out a bottle.

"Yeah, I heard. You really need to keep your temper in check, it'll bite you in the ass one day." Sienna just ignored her and stabbed her fork on her food.

"I can keep it in check." She growled and began to eat her food, the captain then turned toward me and Blake and smiled at the two of us.

"So. I heard that your going to join the protest in Atlas, better prepare for the long journey ahead." She said, Blake scooted closer to me and didn't look at her.

"Thank you, we don't want to stay at home and not do anything." I said and smiled, Evelyn laughed at how I acted and slammed her hand in my back.

I winced in pain at how hard she hit me, put quickly hid my emotion and smiled like nothing happened.

"Word of advice kid, no one's going to care about your status if your a Faunus, all you need to do is show them your not one to mess with." She said and took a swig from her bottle.

"Trust me, I learned it the hard way." She said and clenched her fists in anger. I wanted to ask what she meant by that, but I knew better than to pry into someone's personal life.

"Anyways, you two are in good hands. Sienna herself trained hard and is now able to deal with a small group of humans." She said, Sienna looked away, and her lips curved up to show a faint smile.

"Shut up, just get back to sailing this ship, we need to arrive at the mainland soon." She grumbled, Evelyn just laughed and stood up.

"Fine, but don't blame me if you get sea sick." She then left us alone to finish our food, after we finished, we all took a quick rest and then made our way outside.

"Alright, since you already tried to defend and dodge, I'll have you guys attack me." Sienna then pulled her whip and made it crack in the air.

I was about to rush in and attack her, but the ship rocked to the side, sending me and Blake to the side and hitting the railing.

[Attention passengers, there is a pack of grim flying towards us, please return to your cabin's until it is safe.]

We all looked to the side and saw a flock of nevermore flying towards us, luckily, they were only the size of a wolf.

Sienna and Ilia rushed towards us with their weapons drawn and began to usher us inside. One of the nevermore threw its feathers in front of us.

Blake screamed in fear and tried to run back, but I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me.

Another barrage of feathers landed in front of her, and the nevermore flew past us. This gave Sienna and Ilia the opportunity to usher us inside, while at the same time, Ilia and Sienna unfurled their weapons to slash at the Grimm

They were able to hit a few of them, and the Grimm disintegrated. Me and Blake were about to enter the ships hallways, but the ship was rocked to the side once again.

Looking up, there was a larger nevermore than the rest of the flock, Blake and I tried to scramble away but the nevermore saw us and tried to snap its beak.

"Oh no you don't!" Sienna sent her whip towards its eye, and the three daggers on the end stabbed its eye.

It screeched in pain when it lost its eye, and began to flap its wings. Hearing its screech, the rest of the flock surrounded Sienna and dived towards her.

Ilia tried stabbing a few of them, but there were too many of them, Sienna began to jump back while swinging her whip.

She was able to hit some of them, but they all began to distance themselves. The alpha nevermore screeched, as if commanding them.

The rest of the flock all flicked their wings, sending multiple feathers towards Sienna, who spun her whip above her and deflecting some of them.

But a few were able to slip past through the gaps and scratched her skin and tearing her clothes.

Ilia rushed forward and took advantage of the situation to strike the flock, but some saw her approaching and launched feathers to keep her away.

All I could do was stare at what is happening, and I couldn't do a single thing. Blake held onto me and was to scared to move, but she was able to talk to me.

"A-Aiko, w-we need to get inside." She stuttered, I couldn't agree more, but with Sienna and Ilia fighting the nevermore, I couldn't leave them.

Yet I didn't have a weapon, only a small dagger that I carried with me in case I had to defend myself.

'Move, their right in front of you, fucking move!' I screamed at my body, but I couldn't budge.

I saw the large nevermore hovering above Sienna and Ilia, it extended its talons and began to dive towards them.

'Somebody, anybody, kill that damn Grimm!' As soon as I screamed those words, I felt my aura lower slightly.

A figure detached itself from my body and rushed forward, it tossed a ring towards the Nevermore, splitting it in half.

At the same time, a large dome of blue flames engulfed every single nevermore that surrounded both Ilia and Sienna, burning the Grimm while the rest of the ship remained undamaged.

Once the dome disappeared, a figure stood in front of the two of them. Looking at the figure, I saw that it was a female and she had nine tails and two fox ears, seeing her was a familiar sensation, and I didn't known why.

The more I stared at her, the more I felt like missed her and wanted to run up to her. Tears welled in my eyes and a single word escaped my mouth.

"Mom." The figure then turned in my direction and smiled at me, and began to disintigrate. I wanted to scream out for it to stop, but a gental voice resounded within my mind.

'Not now, my son. When you are asleep, I will explain everything.' Once her voice disappeared, both Sienna and Ilia rushed towards me and Blake and began to see if we're injured.

I ignored their questions and was lost in thought on why my mother appeared, what caused her to be like this. And where was she when I was a child, all I knew, is that I had to be asleep to find my answers.
