1 Why Me?

My mind was blanked out as I continued scanning the orders of people in the local seven eleven and spoke in a monotonous volume every time I heard the abrupt ding of a customer entering for their damn late night snack.

I had always questioned God on what I had done to deserve a punishment as cruel as this working midnight shifts, while my friends are on paid business trips. Although, whenever I had the downtime in the store I would always try and fit a episode of shows or series on my phone. However that would usually be short lived.

"Hey Adam, your shift is done. Its my turn now." I heard my friend Chris call out to me, I've known the guy for like 4 years, still don't know his birthday though. However, we would always try to make time for each other if one was down in the dumps.

"Thanks man, Good luck with your shift." I patted him on the shoulder, heading to the staff room.

"Thanks, I'll need it."

I took of my apron and looked at the vending machine, sighing , I reached into my pocket and grabbed a $2 Dollar bill. Shit was getting expensive. Pressing the buttons for a coffee, I lazily looked at the machine grabbing the can before getting stuck. Causing my face to twitch.

'Third time this week.' I shook my head in disappointment, approaching the machine, I grabbed either sides and shook it but something felt off. It felt like it was pushing back against me and a few seconds later. I was on the ground screaming, in pain and my friend dialing 911. Everything was going dark for me, I heard shouting. Saying not to approach the light and that help would be here soon, but all the noise eventually got blocked out.

It was replaced by a eerily creepy silence. I heard shuffling around me, with beams of light entering my eyes. I ignored it as this was the first time that I finally got some good sleep.

"Son, Wake up it's time for you to become a true hunter. A big strong man like your father. The Greatest Elk Hunter in all of Westeros." I heard a rough voice speak, the man chuckled at the end of his sentence. That was not the thing that intrigued me, It was the mention of Westeros. A Continent in a fantasy world written by R.R Martin.

Hearing this I instantly woke up I saw the man that announced himself as my father. A tall man, strong and rough looking. If I had to estimate he was around 6'5, He had black hair, alongside his grey eyes. Strange.

" Good, It is nice to see you with a smile again. Especially after you caught a illness from that last Doe we ate."

I slowly nodded at him, I didn't have any of the memories of this body. It was as if I just stole it.

"Anyways, get ready. Go grab your bow and equipment, I'll be teaching you how to hunt. After all it is your 10th name day. " The man spoke before exiting the hut, ducking under the doorway.

I rose from my bed, and saw a set of clothes lying down on a table. They look oddly similar to that of the Hunter Set(A) from bloodborne. Smiling, happy to know that I'll at least look fashionable while I'm doing stuff. However I'll have to get it adjusted to my height every single time I grow. I'll leave that for my future self to deal with.

I saw the bow and arrows by the door, the quiver looked like it held around 15 arrows. You only need two if your good. To which I'm not so I'll be using all these in a single hunt ,probably.

There was also a sword, or dagger. I was unsure of what it classified as. I'll have to ask my mentor, otherwise known as this bodies father.

With everything equipped and ready. I left the small hut and saw him, he was outside waiting for me.

"You got everything, Lad?"

" I think so, Although I don't know what this is used for." I spoke pointing towards the 30 inch sword.

"Ah, That its for hunting deer and boars , It your last resort lets say, If they get to close drop your bow and draw that and defend yourself."

I nodded at him, "Now lets get going, lad. We'll be gone from here for a while, so you might want to take a final look of this place." My father spoke, causing me to glance at the surroundings, It was a small village, People were covered in winter clothing due to the cold climate. When people breathed, frost appeared.

That gave me a clue that we were somewhere north, now I need to find out when.

"Hey Jakob, you and your little lad heading out for a hunt?" A man asked us, he was stout middle aged man, " Aye Robb, got to train my boy in the way of hunting game, after all he must pass on our legacy. "

'So that's my fathers name, Jakob, Now I got to find mine out.'

" Say, Jakob when you come back, why don't you swing by, my daughter Rosie wants to see your lad again. " The man spoke , "Says, she has a gift for him, a present of sort. Don't know what it is though, a secret of theirs it must be. "

" Aye, my boy has secrets that he won't tell me ,such as what is hidden in that chest of his, although We must hope he grows strong and brave. I'm sure my boy will do fine. He's like his mother after all. "

" Indeed, a fine boy. He'll grow into a good hunter. Maybe he'll hunt with the likes of King Robert" The man chuckled

" How long has it been since that rebellion?" My father mulled over, " 4 years, I think. You still got that sword, the mad king gave you, for that beast of a Elk you hunted back in the day."

"Aye, I'll be passing it down to my lad." My father spoke while rubbing my head with a smile.

"Anyways we must go, tell your wife and daughter we said hello. " My father waved at him as we headed off into the dirt path.

"Sure thing Jakob." The stout man spoke with a smile before walking off into the direction he came from.
