An Encounter

"Come on~! We can go faster than this!" Dex whines as he bounces in the passenger seat, intensely staring at the dimly lit road.

"No backseat driving!" Baxter barks at his cousin. "We're almost there so stop yelling, hoe!" He continues to flip Dex off.

Dex blinks in confusion as he turns to look at his cousin. "Hoe...? But I'm a virgin." Dex snickers softly.

"Mhm~" Baxter looks at the other male with doubt as they pull into what seemed to be the end of a rocky driveway next to a dense forest. "Alright, we're here. Get out, bitch." He slips out of his cheep and worn out van and onto the rocks, giving a simple scan of the area.

"So where exactly did you read about this?" Dex asks as he slips from the car and looks around. There was only that small patch of rocks. It was like it used to be a driveway but the rest of the driveway had been overgrown and retaken by Mother Nature.

"I heard a few stories from your mom about it last night while I was makin myself FOOD!" Baxter throws his head back as he says that last work, causing Dex to mimic him.

Dex lets out a soft laugh and shake his head as Baxter pulls out the car keys, now the only light on the forest came from the moon. They both grab their bags then close their doors before going around to meet at the front of the car. "She explained this whole story about this girl." Baxter states.

"So that's why you were gone so long~" Dex laughs softly. "Alright, start talkin. I wanna here this story too." Dex clicks on his flashlight as does Baxter.

"Well she started off by telling me about this girl. She was very young, only 7 years old. They were on a long drive to see some family members or something but they had car trouble and had to stop." Baxter starts explaining as they head into the forest.

"No, no, no, lemme guess. They ended up on that same patch of rocks." Dex looks at his cousin with a cocky look in his eyes.

"I'm tellin the story here!.. But yes." Baxter clears his throat before Dex gives a cheer of victory just to annoy his friend. "Anyway~!!" Baxter huffs. "While they were stoped-" Dex quickly puts his hand up, both stopping them in their tracks and shutting up the taller male.

"Look." Dex whispers softly as he covers his flashlight and bends down. He points to a beautiful black wolf that slowly emerges from some bushes, beautifully illuminated by the rays of light from the moon that crept through the leaves. Baxter bends down as well before pulling his phone out to snap a picture.

Baxter seemed to had forgotten about the flash and the sudden bright light quickly caught the wolves attention. Baxter and Dex both tense up and step back just slightly. The wolf sniffs at them as he creeps closer. He stops when a mere foot away. It seemed as if the wolf was scanning them over. What was just a few seconds felt like hours for the two boys. Then suddenly the wolf takes off the way he had come.

They both let out a breathy laugh before standing back up and uncovering their flashlights. "I got a picture!" Baxter laughs, showing the photo.

Dex smiles at the picture before knitting his eyebrows together. "I thought wolves were practically extinct in Oklahoma." He looks over the photo more in curiosity.

Baxter shrugs lightly and shoves his phone back into his pocket. "Okay, before we were so rudely interrupted..." They both laugh softly and continue the walk. "While they were stopped the girl chases after a butterfly into the forest. The parents noticed after a minute and they both ran in to find her."

"Don't tell me she was eaten or something." Dex laughs as he throws his hands to the back of his head.

"What did I say, hoe?!" Baxter lightly smacks the top of Dex's head.

Dex whimpers softly as he rubs the place Baxter had hit. "Sorry~"

"Now. The girl didn't notice she was lost until she was deep into the forest. She wondered around for hours, in tears, terrified, a total mess now. Then she came to a HUGE mansion that was filled with people." Baxter waves his arms in the air to further show how big the building was.

"The one we're looking for?" Dex raises an eyebrow.

"No~ we're looking for a different mansion in the woods- OF COURSE ITS THE ONE WE'RE LOOKING FOR!" Baxter hits Dex's head again before straightening himself up. "She walks into the clearing and closer to the building. The closer she got the more people started looking at here curiously. She was just as curious, seeing as they all had eyes that glowed. One of them stepped forward. He was an older guy who had pure black hair and mocha colored skin with these bright blue eyes. He took her inside and fixed up any small cuts and helped her dust off."

"Did he eat her after?" Dex laughs once again as they come to a creek. Luckily there was a rope they could us to get over.

"Knock it off!" Baxter waves his fist at the male who was currently testing to see if the rope was safe. "He helped her find her parents without him being seen, for some reason, by her parents. After all the mushy stuff about 'we were so worried' they continue on their way." Baxter pauses in the story to jump across with the rope. He lands on the other side rather easily before tossing it back for Dex who quickly joins. "She managed to convince some of her irresponsible family members to take her to the patch from time to time and she met up with the old man who was apparently like a second father. And eventually he was revealed as a werewolf." Baxter pauses for a second. "And then he ate her, I dunno." He gives a light shrug.

While they were talking it seemed they had made it to the clearing. "Awesome." Dex smiles. "Where the hell did my ma find this story?" Dex turns his head to Baxter.

"Facebook I think." Baxter shrugs as he shines his light at the mansion. "Looks like it was partly true. The mansion exists." Baxter states as he looks over the building.

"Lets find this things entrance then." Dex waddles off like a child to find said entrance. Dex, of course couldn't see it, but Baxter gives a disappointed shake of his head before following.

As they were walking they examined the mansion and found it odd. They'd previously thought it would be overgrown and worn down but it was, in fact, perfectly taken care of. The grass around it was shorter than the rest, there was a beautiful garden filled with roses, lilies and a bunch of other flowers. Not a single panel was out of place. It looked like a beautiful mansion you'd expect to find in Hollywood.

"Hey, uh.. how long do you think this thing has been here? It looks brand fuckin new." Dex states as he looks over the dark wooded features of the mansion.

"Well there are few things I could find about it.. and the things I did find varied. Some say decades and others say only a few years." Baxter turns the corner as he explains and hits Dex's chest as if to /aggressively/ tell him to look. Low and behold, there was the grand entrance.

"Sweet! Lets go!" Dex runs up to the entrance and looks it over. From what they could see it looked like there was a balcony held up by some pilers. "Think we'll find any cool shit to take home?" Dex looks back to Baxter.

Baxter gives a light shrug as he hops onto the stairs. "If it looks as good inside as it does outside, I'm sure we will." Baxter steps up to the doors and pushes them open. There wasn't near as loud a creeking noise as the two teens were expecting but regardless they didn't seem to notice. They step into the mansions entrance hall and scan the room. Paintings of what seemed to be a giant family lined the walls.

Dex walks over to one of the side walls to examine the paintings. He quickly takes note of how new they looked. "Hey Baxter, don't these look a bit too new to be years old?" Dex glances back at his friend who just gives a light shrug.

"Imagine how good they looked before. The rich bastards." He laughs softly, gaining a laugh from Dex as well. "Lets head up the stairs." Baxter nods towards the grand staircase at the end of the entrance hall. Dex nods lightly and follows after Baxter.

"Bet ya 20 bucks we'll find a dead body within the first few seconds we're up there." Dex smirks cockily over at his friend, holding up his anime themed wallet as they start the climb to the top.

"I'll take that bet." Baxter smirks back, holding up his FANF wallet. After an unnecessary amount stairs they reach the second floor. They both shine their lights around and alas, there were no bodies in sight. "Pay up, bitch." Baxter gives an equally cocky smirk back to Dex as he holds out his hand.

Dex lets out an annoyed growl as he slaps a 20 down in Baxter's hand. "Don't give me that look." Dex turns away as he shoves his wallet back into his pocket. "Now onward!" Dex starts marching down one of the hallways and Baxter was quick to join in. They only manage a few steps like that before they both succumb to laughter. They both quickly cut themselves off when hearing what sounded like footsteps from upstairs.

"This is the day we die.." They both say in unison. Both of them grab onto each other as they idiotically continue on.

"Any bets on what it was?" Baxter asks.

Dex gives a soft hum. "I mean it could possibly be a wild animal." Dex lets out a nervous laugh as they step up to one of the rooms.

"I bet 50 bucks it's a killer!" Baxter elbows the smaller male, earning a roll of his eyes.

"You always say that." Dex pulls away to open the door to the room. "But we'll find out when we find the stairs, won't we." Dex steps into the room, giving it a quick look over. It was huge. It had fancy furniture that looked rather new. Amongst the furniture where books, papers, even a few posters from shows that were around 20 years old.

"Isn't that the same bed we saw when bitching about rich people we saw online?!" Baxter gestures to the bed dramatically. "Why does this place have new furniture? There has to be someone still living here. And it's someone who's got da money. Not to mention the fucking posters! Dex, you watch these!"

Dex hums softly as he steps over to the nice desk that sat next to a bookshelf. "Didn't think we'd find a Weeb's room out here." He snickers softly. Baxter starts looking through the bookshelf as Dex looks through the desk. Both stop simultaneously, having found some rather interesting things. "I found a journal."

"I found... something?" Baxter flips through the pages of an ancient looking book. Loose leather was hanging off and the pages were stained with all sorts of things, some obviously being dirt and water. "Look at this." Baxter turns the book to show one of the pages.

Dex scans over the page, eyebrow raised as he reads. "Power spells? You should take it. That'll give some inspiration for some weird ass characters." Dex laughs as he goes back to looking through the journal.

"Oh I'm definitely taking it." Baxter closes the book and slips it into his backpack. "I'll check it out more back at your place. So what's the journal say?" Baxter steps to Dex's side and glances over his shoulder.

"Check this out!" Dex says excitedly as he points at one of the elegantly written lines. "Out of the 2,067 years of my life I have never seen a real human child, let alone one wondering through our forest. The little girl was lost. How she managed to wonder so deep into the forest is beyond my knowledge but I knew I couldn't leave her there. I brought her back and cleaned her up." Dex pauses to look at his friend. "Sound familiar~?"

"Now this is some elaborate creepypasta ass set up." Baxter shakes his head. "Still, you should take it."

"There's a few more in here too." Dex pulls out three more journals. "I'll have a better look back home." Dex slips them into his bag. "Now lets go look through some more rooms." Dex zips up his bag before heading back out of the room with Baxter in tow.

They go from room to room, finding things, joking, before they finally find the stairs. They both look at each other and hook their arms together. "Welp. Here we go." Baxter takes a step up, Dex being pulled with.

"Into the unknown we go." Dex snickers, gaining an eye roll from his friend. Once making it to the top of the stairs they scan the area, not seeing any bodies, living or dead.

"Well we didn't die.. yet." Baxter mumbles as he pulls Dex in further.

"It'll be fine.. probably." Dex mumbles back. "It's a lot emptier up here than I thought it'd be." Dex continues to look over the few paintings and strange artifacts. The paintings hung on the walls and under them on a small table was a single artifact.

"It almost looks like they're on display. Doesn't it?" Baxter steps up to one of the paintings. "Dude! This is a painting of a fairy! Look how fucking good it looks!" Baxter frantically gestures at the painting which causes a snort to slip from Dex.

"A fairy, unicorn, centaur, ogre, griffin, arachnids. Whoever made these paintings must've loved the supernatural." Dex shines his light over each painting as he goes. "What about the artifacts or whatever?" Dex steps up to the one under the fairy.

"It's just some book. It looks like more spells. Protection spells, healing spells. Oh~ there's a two page barrier spell. Taking it!" Baxter holds it to his chest.

"You sure? This stuff seems special. I mean sure they're in the attic but they're practically on display." Dex gestures at them.

"It's fine~ I'll take great care of it! Besides, not like anyone is here to care." Baxter shrugs lightly. There was a long pause as they glanced around, both knowing that's when something would've popped out. When nothing happened they both laugh and continue looking at the artifacts. Under each was something that seemed to correspond with whatever creature was painted. The arachnids had a woven blanket that looked rather convincing.

Dex and Baxter step back after looking them over and moves onto the next wall. There was a giant painting of dragons, fire, earth, snow, air, you name it, they were on it. Below it was a beautifully sculpted vase about two feet tall with every one of the species on there. There was some empty room at the back as if it wasn't finished as well.

"Holy shit, look at this! How do people do it?!" Dex leans down to look at the vase, Baxter doing the same. "Bro, I bet this took hours to make." Dex lightly elbows his friend as if asking if he agreed.

"Honestly dude, people make it seem so

easy-" Baxter quickly cuts himself off when hearing a soft growl behind them. Dex and Baxter fling around to frantically look for the source and in doing so, one of them knocks over the vase. It falls to the ground and shatters, the sound echoing through the attic.

More growls can be heard from different sources around the room, causing the two boys to look around even more frantically. Finally the sources begin to step out from behind furniture, pillars and door frames. There seemed to be six or seven people there. Dex and Baxter both quickly took notice of their glowing eyes. "H-hey, I-I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to." Dex stutters out, hand instinctively going to his back pocket where his knife sat.

One of them steps forward, a tall male with dark black hair and glowing green eyes. He wears worn out pants and shoes with only an open hoodie. "What gives you creatures the right to be here?" The man growls, leaning uncomfortably close to Dex's face. Dex shuffles back nervously only to bump into the pedestal the vase had stood on.

"Enough, Nix." Another man stepped forward. He looked much like the other only younger and with Heterochromia, one green and one brown. "It was clear that he didn't mean to." The male states.

"It shouldn't matter, Ace!" The man, Nix, barks as he swings around to look at the other. "He broke into our home, took our stuff and then breaks our most prized artifact!" While the two were arguing Dex and Baxter take that as their chance to slowly move back, Baxter setting the book down as they go. They only managed a few steps before they're stopped by a woman.

"Where do you two think you're going." The woman growls, pushing them back into the center of the commotion. The boys still hadn't noticed at that point and were still going back and forth. "Enough! Idiotic brats." She grumbles the insult under her breath as she step into the center as well. "This needs to be punished!"

"Punished like... manual labor?" Ace lets out a nervous laugh. "S-sounds reasonable."

"I mean exaction, idiot!" She barks. At this point both Dex and Baxter couldn't help but start to panic a bit. The two tightly grab onto each other.

"H-hey wait, Delor! W-we can't kill them!" Ace quickly steps between the two little groups. "It was special yes, but they didn't know! Besides, it's my fault that the protection circle isn't active!" Ace glances back at the two humans, eyes quickly falling on Dex.

"It shouldn't matter!!" Nix pushes past Ace and storms up to Dex and Baxter. As he did his body began to change, a tail and ears grew out, his teeth and nails sharpened and his hair grew longer. He raises his hand, getting ready to claw the smaller of the two when a hand grabbed his shoulder and threw him across the room.

"Enough!!" Ace's voice boomed. Just as Nix had changed so had Ace. "I may not be alpha yet but I am still your superior. So you will stand down. Now." Ace demands. His deeper and intimidating voice caused Nix and Delor, the girl, to shrink down like scared puppies.

"My apologies." Nix said through gritting teeth, the annoyance and anger clear in his tone.

Ace lets out a shaky breath as the strange features fade back into his body. "Better.." Ace glances back to the two boys. "Take them to the dungeon, keep them locked up for now." He turns away.

"Yes sir." Both Nix and Delor nod lightly before each grabbing one of the two intruders, Delor grabbing Dex and Nix grabbing Baxter.
