Chapter 1: Myths and Reality

[The year is 2040, and humanity has made significant technological advances. Religion has almost entirely vanished as mankind has become independent. All religious texts (including the Bible and the Quran), folklore, and unscientific ideas have been prohibited. Religion and myths, which were formerly believed in or plausible, have been censored. Every country somehow agreed on maintaining this censorship.

Somewhere in the rural parts of California, a young man relaxes at home while the sun sets.

"They say a hero isn't born but made. "At least, that's what my mom always told me," he scoffs.

The young man gets up from the couch to go on a late-night jog. He grabs his worn-out black hoodie and sets off.

About an hour passes as the night darkens.

The young man takes out one of his earphones to listen out for danger as he stops to catch his breath. He looks around, noticing he isn't in town, nor the sidewalk of his neighborhood, but a farmhouse.

"I swear I was standing under a street light a second ago?" He said with confusion plastered on his face.

"I guess I'll call Sky to pick me up," he said as he took out his phone.

As the young man starts to call his friend, a star-like light shines in the sky, catching the attention of the young man before shooting down towards him faster than lightning and louder than an earthquake.

The sound of the crash deafened the young man's ears as blood started to drip from them. His eyes were also blinded by the flying debris and dust.

As the dust began to settle, a figure began to emerge. The young man noticed this figure. The figure looked around 5"5 in height and had the physique of a woman.

The shocked young man's eyes were almost completely healed as he began to notice the woman was very angelic-looking. She had long white hair that lay past her shoulders and amber-colored eyes. Her lips were small and light pink. Her ears were what caught the attention of the young man.

Her ears weren't regular; they were longer and pointy, which surprised the young man. "Wh-who are you?" he said.

"My name is Alice, but you are similar to me." She said as she looked curiously at him.

"What do you mean we're similar? This doesn't seem real," he said.

"You are a hero, that's why you were teleported here," she said as she intensely looked at him.

"Teleported, what does that mean? And what do you mean by I'm a hero?" he said to the suspicious woman. "Just who are you?"

"Well, you should have noticed by now that any injuries you had from the destruction of me crashing have healed. Only heroes have that ability." She said as her face began to brighten.

"Wha, how can that be? That shouldn't be possible! That's not reality!" he said as he noticed the blood from his ears disappear as if it never even existed.

"I can't fully explain, but you're being targeted now. If you don't believe me, then do nothing, but if you do, go to England." She is interrupted as a helicopter full of masked people jumps out.

Before Alice and the young man can do anything, both are frozen in place by some imaginary power. The masked people began to chain both Alice and the young man with a peculiar chain that seemed to weigh extraordinarily heavy.

"WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?" he said desperately, but was interrupted by a man.

He looked like he was in his early forties and was around 6"5. He had a muscular build with blonde hair. "Case number 0 and Case number 777. It seems we were almost too late," he said.

The man signaled to the masked people. "Take number 0 and take care of him before anything happens. For number 777, dispose of her; this time she was too close."

The masked man began to take the young man to the helicopter. "Hey! Can you hear me?" a voice asks the young man. "Huh? Is that? Wait a minute, how is this possible? I really must be dreaming," he answered in his head.

"You're not dreaming. I am going to teleport you far away from here," she answered back. "Huh, then what about..." he said as he turned back to see Alice's neck being shown.

A light began radiating from the young man while she asked, "Please tell me your name."

"It's Alex, but I still don't get what's going on," he said as the blonde-haired man widened his eyes.

"STOP HER!?! Cut her head off before the teleportation is finished!" he said as the light became more and more noticeable.

Alex looks over, hoping what he was thinking wasn't going to happen, and sees Alice mouthing something with a tear in her eye as she is beheaded by one of the masked men.

"DAMMIT!" the blonde-haired man said before the light and Alex both disappeared.

Alex is teleported to an unfamiliar, dark place once again. Tears drip from his eyes, and he bangs his head on the ground upon seeing Alice beheaded.
