A Strange Decision

Günter had the upper hand and Michael was struggling to keep up but this was a good test to see how he fared against someone that perfectly countered his ability. This would be the determining factor.

Günter had the power of intangibility but Michael noticed something with this ability and that was his whole body went intangible, Günter couldn't select which part of him went or this would have been a hopeless battle as it meant he had to be fully tangible to attack him.

Michael charged at him and Megan shook her head, was he stupid? Why was he charging at someone that could phase through all his attacks?

Michael tried to land an uppercut but Günter easily blocked it by placing his open palm under his chin.

Michael tried to break free but Günter had a powerful grip, grabbing his hand so he couldn't move.

It reminded him of their first exchange but he was the one doing the blocking.

"You're strong." Günter commended Michael but he has fallen right into Michael's trap.

Michael headbutted him suddenly and it connected, sending him reeling backwards as both trickled down both their heads.

"What?" Megan blurted out and Tee smiled, Michael had figured out a weakness to his powers at such an astonishing rate that it was scary.

Everyone assumed it was his smarts but Michael had an ability that allowed him to understand other abilities but it was unknown if it was linked with the hunger he feels or not because the potential of his ability was largely unknown.

"You hit me?" Günter touched his forehead and saw that Michael had injured him.

"I thought with a power like that, you would be invincible but I realised that you cannot use it carelessly as it consumes a large amount of energy and that is why you even bother to block my attacks but there is one more thing…" Michael paused.

"... Whatever you are holding when you go intangible, goes with you and you holding my hand nullifies the purpose of your ability," Michael said, he made this calculated guess because the weapon he had on him when he dodged the other one didn't fall through.

It remained with him, which means he took it with him and if he couldn't send only part of his body it meant he had no such control hence why Michael deemed it an action he couldn't control and he was spot on.

Günter had every intention of killing Michael and Michael knew just because he had figured out how his powers work doesn't mean he would win.

In retrospect, Günter was far superior and he charged at Michael intending to end it with this attack, Michael erected his telekinetic barrier around his body but it was only the layer of his skin, worn like a woven fabric.

The beauty about this was, it required no movement from Michael so the chances that Günter would be aware of this neat little trick was low but not zero.

Just like Michael intended, Günter's dagger made contact with this thin defensive layer and Michael turned that into an attack as he made it explode violently, shattering the ground and everything around him. This resulted in a huge smokescreen.

No one could see anything but when the screen subsided, it wasn't Günter on the floor.

It was Michael, and he had a dagger right up his guts.

Günter mounted him casually as he was getting ready to deliver the finishing blow.

"Y-You… How!?" For the first time in the battle, Michael showed discomfort.

"Misdirection…" Dean muttered under his breath. Misdirection was giving the enemy a false perception of their weakness because everything that Michael thought was his weakness, wasn't.

Günter started using his powers at a much earlier age than all of the people here, he had a mastery that they could only wish for and this included turning any part of his body intangible, the only thing that Michael got right was the massive energy consumption it zapped from the user.

Michael tried to move but he knew if he did, the internal damage he would incur might rip open his stomach due to the jagged edges of Günter's daggers.

Michael had been defeated swiftly and all it took was this? He couldn't accept this reality but there was nothing he could do at that moment to overcome it.

He couldn't use his powers either due to the excruciating pain disrupting his concentration, there was something strange about these weapons.

It wasn't meant to hurt this much, it was just a stab so why did it feel like every nerve in his body was going berserk?

Günter moved to kill Michael but he stopped mere inches from his neck, almost like he hesitated and this was the opening that Michael needed.

Michael grabbed Günter's neck, he tried to snap it but it was enough to switch the dynamic.

Michael managed to throw him off him, and Günter let go of the dagger he had within his grasp.

"I see…" He muttered to himself before phasing right through Michael and walking towards Mountain Woman.

"I forfeit…." Günter said. Everyone was dazed because he had the upper hand and the one that was most confused by this decision was Michael.

Michael's knees soon buckled, and the strength in his body was gradually leaving.

"What is happening?" Michael thought to himself as Günter walked up to him.

"It is the poison, it is kicking in…." Günter said casually as he rummaged through his pocket where a tube with a coloured substance was equipped.

He handed it to Michael, giving him the antidote to his poison. Michael questioned it but there was no reason for him to poison him right after poisoning him again so he gambled on that chance as he knew he didn't have a lot of time left.

"Why are you doing this?" Michael asked and for the first time since their battle, Günter's aloof expression changed.

"He wants you alive…" This was all he said before leaving the little arena.

"Tee, your nose…" Megan said with Tee quickly wiping his bloodied nose.

"That fool…" Tee thought to himself.
