A Peek Into The Past [END]

Damon was face to face with the man that was responsible for all of this but Damon, not knowing who he was or his parents thought that this was a random attack by some bad people.

Axel was stronger than Grace and the only reason she could kill him was because Axel couldn't bring himself to harm Grace.

"Mom?" Damon muttered, his eyes could not believe what he was seeing but Grace was unresponsive as she kept stabbing away.

Thanatos didn't look bothered as he drank the beverage in hand, the lack of interest in what was happening said it all because he had accomplished his objectives.

They discovered that Axel didn't have the password to the encrypted drive in his possession and this was why they responded the way they did.

The only way they got this information was through Axel's supposed friend in politics.

The primary threat was gone but where was the drive?

Thanatos couldn't get into his mind and he knew torturing him would prove fruitless because whoever Axel was, he was a formidable person to resist Thanatos's powers even though the boy was young and was yet to have a mastery of his superpowers.

"Stop it, Mom!" Damon screamed as he charged towards her to stop her from disrespecting his father's corpse any longer.

But a powerful kick right into his torso sent him flying a couple of meters back, crashing into the table.

"You don't get to interfere, I have business with mommy and daddy so just sit and watch…" Thanatos instructed Damon. Damon was severely injured with just a single blow, he was surprised that someone this small could be this strong but that was the thing with superhumans, their strength was higher than the average human, even those that were yet to awaken but Damon right now was a normal human being due to his mother's influence so he felt everything like a normal person.

The pain travelled through every nerve in his body, he couldn't even stand as his vision was blurry.

All he could hear was the constant sound of ripping flesh and realized that this person was playing some sort of sick game with his parents.

Damon crawled in the direction of his mother, this scene would traumatize anybody and it wouldn't be a far stretch to say that Damon would be among them.

Damon kept crawling in her direction, he wanted to reach her but there was a problem. Thanatos stood in his way.

Damon grabbed onto his feet before muttering.

"L-Let her go…" Damon was barely audible but he managed to get his message across but was Thanatos willing to answer? Well, his response was conveyed with a kick to Damon's face, breaking his nose in the process.

"That is strange…" Thanatos said as he turned Damon over on his back so he could look at him properly.

"Are you a human?" Thanatos asked him due to the damage that the young boy had taken.

Damon accumulated injuries that she shouldn't have if he had superhuman genes.

Damon didn't have the strength to give a verbal reply as his eyes welled up.

His attention wasn't even on Thanatos but rather, on his mother. Thanatos noticed this and grinned sadistically.

This gave him an idea as he instructed Grace to come to him, Grace did so without a moment's hesitation.

"Yes, darling?" Grace responded to Thanatos like he was her son.

"Kill him," Thanatos said but the moment Grace saw Damon, she froze in place.

"Damon?" Grace blurted out, she recognized the boy before her.

Thanatos might have forced his way into her memories but her heart, this was something that still recognized Damon and Grace was a lady that always trusted her gut instincts. She even recognised that she had imprinted on the boy she was about to kill, her energy resided in him in the form of the DNA mutation and the weakness of Thanatos's ability came to light.

The deeper he planted himself into someone's life, the harder it was to maintain that lie.

And once the target recognizes something was off, Thanatos could no longer maintain its hold or at least this was the limitations of his powers at this point.

Grace glanced over her shoulder and saw Axel's bloodied corpse, she immediately broke down because she knew she was responsible for it but she also knew her sons were in danger.

Grace did what any mother would do, she used her power to try and forcefully revert Thanatos to a human but the only thing she managed to do was weaken him.

Thanatos slapped Grace, sending her crashing into another part of the house, leaving him alone with Damon.

"That bitch…" Thanatos cussed under his breath but before he could even think of his next action.

He felt a jab at the back of his head that sent him crashing head-first into the ground.

Peter had arrived just in the nick of time and he knew that he didn't have time to grieve or ask questions.

He needed to get Damon out of there and fast.

"Damon! Get the fuck out of here!" Peter said, guiding his younger brother to his feet before pushing him towards the day.

Damon was injured but luckily, he had a clear enough head to walk. Damon knew one thing with Peter and that was everything always seemed to work out for him.

Damon trusted Peter with every fibre of his being but something told him that this would be different. Frankly, Damon was simply too scared to stay and fight alongside his brother so he ran away.

Damon ran and didn't look back, not even for a second.

Deep down, Damon knew what awaited Peter but his delusion is what enabled his escape as he told himself that lie.

"He will be fine." but Peter was anything but fine.

A few hours after this, the news announced the deaths of his family members but there was a problem.

Damon was named as the prime suspect in this case and at that moment, Damon felt he wasn't worthy to shed any tears, not until he avenged them so he didn't cry. He held all the pain in.

He wished to disappear, and that's just what happened. Damon disappeared and found himself in the United States. Grace had undone her powers to allow this to even be possible.
