Someone else's involvement

I was shocked. We didn't know who was this man and where he was from. Someone had cut his throat. The blood had dried but it didn't seem too old. I stood up and took a fews steps back. Victor got up too and grabbed a metal rod. He asked me to keep my voice low. He checked the whole basement. No one was there which I thought was pretty obvious.

" Let's search for something which is used in his murder. " Victor said.

" Don't you think we should call the cops? " I asked.

" No , because this will make things worse. Remember one thing James, no matter what! Tonight is our last chance. Either we will win.....or will loose our lives. " He sounded pretty serious. My heart started sinking.

" Tell me one thing and please be honest. Do you love Jennifer? "He asked.

" Yeah . More than anything else " . I said and I still remember that moment . It was like one of those moments I won't be able to forget.

" Can you even give your life for her? " No feelings, no fear, no emotions were involved. The fear, the tension was no more. I was calm and relax. I wasn't feeling the tension of my surroundings. Victor was right in front of me, holding me by my shoulders, looking straight into my eyes. And all I saw in his eyes was the bright smiling face of that girl who hold my hand and brought me out of the darkness of life when there was no one by my side. I said yes. Words automatically came out of my mouth. " An orphan like me who had nothing to lose, I can do anything for the one I love ". I said.

" Then let's go buddy. I promise I won't let you guys down." And we went back home. In the hall I saw Ben and he was talking with someone. I was about to say that we found a body in the basement but Victor gestured me not to say anything. Ben hunged up the phone and asked " Hey, What happened? Why you look so pale? "

" Nothing " I lied. I wanted to change the topic so I asked" Whom were you talking with? "

" Um.....Dad just called " . He said.

" Oh uncle John! How is he? " I asked . Ben didn't said too much. Then Kely said something " Dad was here so we wanted to-"

" Uncle John was here? " I asked in surprise. Then quickly Ben said " She was meaning to say it he wanted to be here but he couldn't make so we were just talking about that ". It was weird. It felt like Kely said something that she wasn't supposed to and Ben was covering up for her. There was an awkward silence for a while. Then Victor asked me to come with him. We went to the kitchen.

" What was that? " I asked.

After a little pause Victor said

" Your Uncle John was here "

" What do you mean? "

" Something is not right. Something is definitely wrong.....From the very beginning I had a feeling that this wasn't totally a paranormalic case. Not every incident that had happened was something demonic. But someone else's involvement is there ".
