Mirrors of Maze

Jin-Ae's POV:

My eyes widened as we entered the amusement park, and we were engulfed into a world of cotton candy, rollercoasters, games, and fun. Baek Hyeon had received tickets as a present from Mrs Yang and brought us all along with him since it was the summer holidays, and we were all bored.

"Come on! We have to ride that!" screamed Mi Young as she jumped up and down with enthusiasm and pointed at a huge rollercoaster which was more than a 100feet above the ground with loops, fast turns, corkscrews and extremely fast. I gulped as I heard the cries of horror from the people riding it and I stumbled back when I saw an insurance counter right next to the entrance of the ride which seemed very busy.

"How about we try some other rides first?" asked Ha Joon which also looked terrified and I nodded in agreement, but Mi Young had other plans.

"Fine, then, Jae Sang and Baek Hyeon! Will you come with me?" she called the two boys which were sharing a cotton candy, thinking she was pointing at the carousel ride with a bunch of pink unicorns and ponies which seemed harmless, so they nodded and were completely clueless of the actual death trap they were going to ride.

"Well then... we're going to ride that," I said pointing to the spinning teacup ride and grabbing Ha Joon to bring him with me.

Baek Hyeon's POV:

Jae Sang and I followed overjoyed Mi Young, but we stopped halfway when we noticed Mi Young was strangely going the wrong way.

"Hey, you're going the wrong way." Exclaimed Jae Sang, so Mi Young stopped before going too far away.

"What do you mean? The ride is over there." She replied in confusion as she pointed towards the left to a rollercoaster which looked like someone designed it after looking at the results of a cat playing with a string of yarn.

"No, the pretty pony ride is over there." Said Jae Sang as he pointed towards the left to the carousel ride.

"I didn't say I wanted to go on that ugly thing!" cringed Mi Young as soon as her eyes caught sight of the carousel. "I want to go on that!" she chirped happily with her hands directed to the horrifically terrifying rollercoaster.

"You know what... I think my mom is calling, I am just going to- "I began, but stopped when I saw tears brimming in Mi Young's eyes.

"B-But y-your g-going to leave soon a-and It-thought we should m-make some memories." She blurted out while staring at the ground and blinking away her tears.

"Fine, come on Baek Hyeon-ah! Let us ride this thing already!" caved Jae Sang which was already in line and I chuckled before taking Mi Young's hand and bringing her with me to Jae Sang's place in the line.

Jae Sang and I crawled into the car seats first and I turned around but saw that Mi Young had not gotten in yet.

"You know what? I think I'm going to sit this one out." She said with a smirk as she tapped her chin in thought.

"Wait what?! Shouted Jae Sang and I as we scrambled in panic and to our devastation, instead of helping us, Mi Young pulled out her phone and took pictures of us.

"The ride will start in 3...2... 1" announced the robotic voice before we were suddenly gushed forward, twisting, and turning with the cart.

"I'm going to die!" I screamed and laughed when Jae Sang was clinging onto me for dear life.

"When does this thing end?!" he cried out as we went upside down.

"How the hell am I supposed to know?!"

I blinked and struggled to walk in a straight line as Jae Sang leaned onto me and we walked away from the platform and to a grinning Mi Young, who took another picture of us.

"Say cheese!" She encouraged, but I gagged and Jae Sang quickly pulled me to the nearest trash can.

"Say nachos?" she said again, and I glared at her, making her gulp nervously and take a few steps away from us. Jae Sang slowly walked towards her as I continued emptying the cotton candy and other contents. Mi Young backed away with wide eyes as if she were now being hunted by a tiger.

" Oh shit!" screamed Mi Young as she ran away and Jae Sang chased her, I followed soon after that when I finished drinking water and popping a few breath mints into my mouth, but a figure wearing sunglasses and a sleek black leather biker jacket caught my attention. Seojun!

"What are you doing? You said you would stay away after I gave you one of the tickets!" I yelled in annoyance as he shrugged and removed his sunglasses to look me in the eyes.

"I said I would stay away from Jin-Ae, not you." He retorted with a low chuckle.

"I don't want anything to do with you. Go find someone else to annoy." I said before walking away in the direction which Jae Sang and Mi Young went and left Seojun standing there in the sun alone.

"Come out, come out wherever you are!" I called out as Jae Sang and I searched the maze of mirrors. Jae Sang patrolled next to me and looked a little lost himself, but I just chuckled and patted his back in reassurance.

"Chill, I know the way out, it's just a left then a right and- "

" I thought it was left then left again?" asked Jae Sang in confusion as I quickly checked the map in my hands which I bought from a random kid who claimed to have gone in here a billion times.

"It says we turn left here..." I trailed off while keeping my eyes on the map and turning left, only to be hit hard on the face with cold glass. I stumbled backwards since my vision was a little blurry and dirtied with a few black spots, but just as I was about to fall I felt a pair of warm hands envelope around me, my eyes were slammed closed at the sudden feeling of falling, but instead of slamming into the hard rough carpet, I landed onto a soft and yet muscular frame which gripped me tightly by the shoulders to make sure that they took the fall instead.

"You can open your eyes now." Whispered a gentle masculine voice as warm breath fanned onto my pursed lips. I opened my eyes to see slender black eyes staring at me with worry and I realised I was on top of Jae Sang. For a moment everything stood still, and the only sound heard was our short wispy breaths and then I blinked back into reality.

"Thanks," I said as I got up and helped him up as well. I tried to ignore the small tingling feeling at the back of my mind, and I glanced back to the map on the floor.

"Well, that was useless." Chuckled Jae Sang as we started going through the maze by ourselves and left the fake map behind.

Mi Young's POV:

I let out a light chuckle as the worker greeted me goodbye and I left the Maze of Mirrors area. I looked around and saw a cupcake stand which was selling special cotton candy flavoured cupcakes which seemed intriguing and delicious.

"Gamsahabnida! (Thank you)" I said politely to the worker before walking off onto the pathways filled with people. I looked at the cute swirl of pinks, violets and blues of the cream which hid the moist cake underneath. The smell of sugar and a slight hint of cherry made my mouth water as I brought the cupcake closer to my mouth to take a bite, but instead, I had accidentally knocked into someone and the cupcake was squashed into their leather jacket which covered the light blue cotton T-shirt they were wearing.

"I'm so sorry! I was not looking at where I was going and... Seojun...?" I quickly apologised and used a paper napkin to wipe off the frosting and cake stuck onto their clothes but froze in place when I looked up to see Seojun staring down at me.

"You should be sorry. I could sue you for ruining a 600 won specially made leather jacket from- "

"Ok, I'm sorry, no need to brag about your money. I already know you're rich." I said while rolling my eyes and I stuck the napkin onto his jacket while spreading the cream around a little, before feigning sadness.

"Oh no. It can't come off." I said with a hint of sarcasm evident in my voice and he rolled his eyes at my very good acting.

"Now, I'm going to go..." I trailed off as I turned to leave, but he grasped my hand. Deja vu.

"What is with you grabbing people just when they're about to leave?" I asked in annoyance as he chuckled sheepishly.

"Look, I know I messed up big time- "he said, but I cut him off. "Way more than just 'big time', but continue," I said with anger at his casual and relaxed behaviour with this whole situation.

"I just want to make it right. I want to be there for that baby, and I want Jin-Ae to have happiness, so I'll let that douche have her." He said with an eye roll at Ha Joon's mention, but I glared at him.

"Roll your eyes one more time and they'll fall out or I'll just have to scoop them out myself," I said violently since he disrespected Ha Joon. Seojun looked a little shocked at my choice of words, but quickly became unfazed and continued his sob story.

"I just want to at least be that baby's co-dad and also get forgiveness." He stated and I deadpanned at him while contemplating whether to laugh at him or send him to the mental hospital.

"I know I don't deserve any of that. With all the stuff in the past and all those girls." His voice broke at the end of the sentence which created a little painful feeling lingering inside me, but I pushed it aside and decided to be practical.

"What exactly do you want?" I asked and his mood lightened at the thought of me hearing him out

"I don't expect forgiveness, but I want to put the past to rest and change for the future." And we have a Shakespeare present.

"Here," I said giving him a small paper card which I kept originally for Jin-Ae in my pocket. It had a good therapist's name and her address scribbled onto it.

"I don't want a random therapist." He said with confusion and dislike while I mentally face-palmed at not walking away from this picky dude earlier.

"Then who do you want?" I asked while lining up at the cupcake stall again and hoping that the cotton candy cupcakes did not run out.

"Can't you help me?" he asked with a raised eyebrow and I stumbled on a small piece of stone on the path.

"I'm not a therapist," I said to him while receiving my cupcake from the same worker before and she eyed me suspiciously.

"Both of you are a lovely couple." She said kindly, but I choked on my cupcake whilst Seojun just put an arm around my shoulder and pretended to give me an 'I'm so in love' look. Whereas looked like a depressed chipmunk with all the cake stuffed into my mouth and filling my puffed cheeks.

"Please don't choke and die before you fix my problems." Pleaded Seojun as I chewed and swallowed the cupcake until nothing was left except for the thin paper cupcake liner.

"Fine. The sooner I fix you, the sooner you will be gone. When was the last time you texted Jin-Ae?" I asked before sipping my bubbly bittersweet soda.

"Erm, I think, it was a very long time ago before prom and the holidays." He said deep in thought and I nodded at the new information to assure him that I was listening even though the Haunted House platform looked sparked my interest and curiosity. I turned back to Seojun and saw that he was holding his phone, so I quickly snatched it out of his hands and went to Jin-Ae's contact.

"Please don't!" panicked Seojun, but I had already texted Jin-Ae a 'Hi'.

"She didn't read it yet, plus you can delete it." I laughed, but he did not seem to be laughing along with me and soon my laugh turned into a nervous and panicked symphony of coughs, sharp breaths, and chuckles.

"You can delete it right...?" I asked after my mini-performance and he shook his head no. I took hid phone again and selected the message while looking for the delete icon, but it was not there.

"You need to update your messages," I said as I gave him back the phone and felt the guilt eating me from the inside.

"Want to go in there?" he asked while pointing at the haunted house and I nodded before we went to the queue.

***

"She's chasing us!" I screamed in fear as I tugged on Seojun's shirt and I think I heard it tear a little.

"This shirt's expensive!" he yelled, but I ignored him and continued running past the scary criminal hands which tried to grab me from the prison bars around us.

"Hurry up! I think we lost her." Panted Seojun as we took a moment to catch our breath, but I felt a claw touch my shoulder. Without thinking I accidentally spun around and punched the ghost, which was just a poor worker in a costume at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Oops." I chuckled nervously as the platform manager glared at me and Seojun was struggling to hold in his laughter.

Jin-Ae's POV:

" Come on, it's the only ride which doesn't have a long line," I said as I pulled Ha Joon towards the swan boat ride, but made sure not to accidentally tug on the new luxurious watch which Mrs Yang gave him.

"Fine at least it's better than that other ride you chose which could've been harmful to the baby." He said as he remembered my first option which was to ride a safari adventure boat ride which was completely harmless, but Ha Joon refused to let me even take a step onto the boat.

"Enjoy the ride." greeted a worker as the slow current of water pulled the boat away from the platform and along the stream. I gazed in awe at the beautiful forest scenery surrounding us and let Ha Joon's hand subconsciously hold onto mine. We sat in comfortable silence and I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Can we get some ice cream later?" I asked and he chuckled deeply before placing a light feathered kiss onto my forehead and I was still able to feel the sparks from the touch of his lips.

"What are we?" he asked softly, and I looked to his face to see his expression being clouded with emotions.

"Well, we aren't just friends, but we aren't dating either," I said with guilt as memories of Seojun flooded back into my mind.

"Why not?" he asked sheepishly, and I looked at him in confusion. I am pregnant with another dude's baby and I have more drama in my life than Keeping Up with The Kardashians and yet he is asking me this right now?

"What do you mean? Are you fine with all this? I'm sorry maybe if I listened to you in the first place and I didn't- "

"You're rambling. Plus, I know you didn't expect all this and I can't say that I'm perfectly fine with how everything turned out since you got your heartbroken, but I am really happy that you're the person I'm sitting next to right now." He spilt his thoughts and I looked at him shocked. The only reason he is upset is that I was played.

"Oh, and I'm also upset about the fact that I took so long to tell you that I had feelings for you." He added on casually and I felt my heart thundering and my palms became sweaty.

"And what happens if I say that I have feelings for you too?" I asked shyly and he turned to look at me with wide eyes.

"So, you do?" he asked for reassurance and I nodded as I felt myself slowly going closer towards him.

"Yes- "I was cut off by warm soft lips being slammed onto mine. A gasp escaped my lips as my hands found themselves tracing onto the abs being covered by his shirt while he mercilessly attacked my lips.

"We have to stop. Do not. Want. Hurt. Baby." He panted and I nodded since I was out of breath.

Baek Hyeon's POV:

I watched as Jin-Ae and Ha Joon held hands and walked together side by side. I blasted the music through my headphones louder and followed far behind them while Mi Young took selfies and pictures of her surroundings using her phone for filters and new expensive camera which Mrs Yang gave her.

"Where were you, Mi Young?" I asked in confusion since Jae Sang and I was never able to find her.

"Just somewhere around the carnival." She shrugged before taking a picture of the sunset.

"Come here!" She screeched excitedly as she grabbed me by the hood of the hoodie and dragged me next to her before taking a picture of us together with a cute cat face filter.

"You are too!" She laughed as she pulled Jae Sang to join us in the next picture with the dog face filter.

"Oh wait, this is only meant for two people." She said with sorrow etched into her innocent face before stepping in front of us and holding up her phone, which meant that it was only Jae Sang and I in the photo.

"Move a little closer, my phone is small." She shrugged and we moved a little closer so there was only an inch of space between us, but this seemed to annoy Mi Young and she huffed angrily and gestured for us to move closer.

This went on until our shoulders were touching, but it did not please Mi Young and she deadpanned at Jae Sang and I.

"Your phone isn't that small- "began Jae Sang, but was cut off by Mi Young's death glare.

"Just do it." She said with a trace of venom in her voice which made us instantly come closer to each other and he put an arm across my shoulders and pulled us into a pose for the camera, which made Mi Young smirk in satisfaction before taking a billion pictures of us with different filters and poses. A light shade of pink-tinted Jae Sang's cheeks and the tip of his ears and I assumed I looked the same as flashes of the events in the Maze of Mirrors came to mind.

"You guys too!" exclaimed Mi Young as Jin-Ae and Ha Joon sheepishly posed for pictures.

"Now all together." She said as she took a picture of all of us.

"But what about you? I can take pictures." Said Jae Sang as he tried to get away from our squashed positions.

"Hi, would you like me to take a picture of you all?" asked a kind middle-aged lady and Mi Young gladly gave the camera to her.

"Cheese!"
