55 Theophania’s Gift

The moonlight peered brightly down from above as Jason started his journey back toward the Tritonean sea. He had spent more than half a day in the Spiritual Realm with Alea, and now that he knew she was safe, he wanted to waste no time in returning to his friends.

Crossing through the tall stalks of untrimmed grass, Jason hurriedly sprinted across the plains like a midnight assassin and ran alongside the river, which reflected the beige hue of the beautiful stars. 

His heart beat quickly at the abrupt jolt into motion, and the glass vial carrying mermaid tears around his neck pounded rhythmically on his chest.

Hours passed, and soon, glimmers of the rising sun peeked over the horizon, forcing the moon to descend.
