Kill It!

Jonathan sat down on a rock and waited for news. The group had already set up a make shift camp without alerting anyone. They were well hidden and wouldn't be easily found. He stared down at the EPC strapped to his wrist as he waited.

Nadia was the team's best rouge, having gone into the 'Master Infiltrator' class. She would be able to make it into town and out without anyone finding out, unless there was someone in town with a level 50 and above class with high detection abilities.

As he was waiting a small blip went off.

*Blip*

(The Immortals are looking for a city token.)

He nodded his head to himself, it made sense. What other use was a town this destroyed. Actually it would be more of a wonder if the token was still in the city, taking into account the amount of time that had passed. But like them, maybe the immortals were gambling on the small hope that it was here, like them with their anomaly.

Jonathan read the message but he didn't reply. He knew better than to send a message to an infiltrator while they were on the job. Even though the small blip noise that was created by EPC was small, it didn't mean it was safe to send a message.

He just continued to sit there and read the messages that came in.

*Blip*

(The Immortals are afraid of a native in the town. It looks like they have the city token.)

Jonathan started making plans in his mind. Even if the weak Immortals were afraid of a native, at their level of strength it shouldn't be hard for them to take them down. Their levels hadn't even broke past the 20's an easy problem.

Jonathan made a small mental note to stop the native from leaving. The city token would be beneficial for the empire.

*Blip*

(Both Immortal forces are less than level 20)

*Blip*

(Both Immortal forces are being killed by the native in town. Going to investigate now)

*Blip*

(Native spotted. He's part of a group of 3. Going in closer for detailed analysis.)

*Blip*

(I've been spotted!)

A frown finally appeared on Jonathans face as he read. It shouldn't be possible for a native group to spot Nadia. She was a level 36 master infiltrator, no native known had gotten past level 30 yet. And no one that low could possible spot her.

Well it didn't even matter if she was spotted she could retreat and lose their tail. Then come back and gather information again. There was nothing to worry about in Jonathans head.

*Blip*

(Native group consists of High human! Queen Dryad, and...)

The message cut off. That wasn't usual. Jonathan frowned to himself; a high human shouldn't be possible, it just couldn't happen until the legendary…. His thoughts trailer off as a small feeling in the back of his head was telling him something was wrong. He was starting to get tense when another message came through.

*Blip*

(URGENT!!!! Tier 4 Demon spotted in group! Anomaly identified! URGENT!!!)

"What!"

Jonathan sprung to his feet. The newest message he couldn't believe!

A demon!?!?!

A demon?!?!?!

As he stood up quickly his face distorting into one of shock, the rest of the group that had been leisurely sprung to their feet. Their captain didn't usually lose his cool. Something big had happened.

Jonathan's mind raced as all the information about demons appeared in his head, he pushed the thought of the high human and the dryad right out of his head. Not spending more than a second he pulled up his EPC and wrote back a message. The information was so important he had to send a message! And it was one that broke his heart.

(KILL IT NOW!)

That was all he sent, he couldn't bring himself to send more. He just couldn't sit around while one of those things was roaming about. Every second counted.

"Everyone group up! We are leaving in 1 minute leave all non-essentials, and prepare for a tough fight."

"Haha, what got you so spoked captain?"

The archer spoke in a jovial manner, he found the captain getting so tense funny. It wasn't a sight he got to see all the time. Jonathan gave him a hard stare that the archer wasn't expecting, he was just joking around, but the look in the captain's eyes was terrifying.

"Nadia has spotted a Tier 4 demon in that town! I want everyone to prepare for a hard fight."

The archer was shocked from his words, he couldn't believe them. He wasn't the only one, the others that had been preparing to move, stopped what they were doing with shocked looks.

"A Tier 4 demon?!"

"Weren't they all eradicated!!!!!???"

Jonathan just solemnly nodded.

"One of them has turned up here, and I don't know what level it has reached. But this could be our only chance to kill it! Give it any more time and the empire could be eradicated! Nadia is trying to hold it off till we arrive."

The whole group was shocked by his last line.

"She isn't facing one of those monsters alone?!"

Jonathan could only grit his teeth and nod a sorrowful expression on his face.

"YES! So hurry up!"

Everyone in the group nodded, their preparations to leave only took 30 seconds, and they were all rushing. None of them were leisurely anymore they all had terrified expressions on their face.

As they hurried to prepare, Jonathan looked down at his EPC. He had received no messages since the last. And truthfully he wasn't expecting any; he had basically sent Nadia to her death by ordering her to kill it.

After 3 months, such a creature would be powerful beyond belief, but he had to give the message. Every second that one of those things lived would spell disaster for everyone else. If only to distract it till they got there or slow it down, he prayed they could make it down there before it consumed even more.

"Damn Immortals, they are just feeding it."

Jonathan's thoughts slipped out as he couldn't control his rage. It was a known fact that demons could turn anything they eat into EXP. Given enough time nothing could stop it. They had been eradicated on his home world, but it took 10 empires banding together and still 7 of them were destroyed before they pulled through.

It was already a tier 4, given enough time it could reach that level. And then no one would be safe.

Jonathan clenched his hands as a small bit of blood started to come out. They had no time to lose, they could possible deal with a tier 4, but there was no guarantee.

Looking behind himself, he saw the group ready to go. He said nothing as they jumped on their horses and galloped towards the town. If any of the immortals tried to hinder them, they would be killed.

Jonathan felt a small tear run down his cheek as he thought of Nadia. They had a good relationship in the group and he had spent a lot of time courting her before they were transported to this world. And he had basically asked her to die.

He had to go faster, even if it was a small chance, maybe she was still alive.

There was only one thought in his mind as he galloped onwards.
