STARING CONTEST

Why is my life so messed up? Why him? Even if I had a 1% chance of being with him, it's all gone.

His eyes are filled with confusion. I averted my gaze, not daring to look straight into his eyes. He opened his mouth to say something.

"I'm sorry." I cut him before he could speak and ran towards the washroom. I dare not to look back.

As the cold water fell on my body, I let my cries out. Lucy had never seen me as a sister. For her, I am a tool to do her works and a person who she can bully without thinking about the consequences. I washed and change into spare clothes. This is not the first time; they are doing this to me. So, I always kept an extra cloth in my locker.

"You are here!"

I looked back to see Anna. I couldn't stop myself. I hugged and wept.

"Shush. It's okay. I'm here now. They won't do anything." She consoled me. She wiped my tears.

"It's not right. You shouldn't be staying silent about this." she left a long sigh. "I can't go against them because you asked me not to." She helplessly said.

"I'm used to it," I said to her with a forced smile. "I don't want mom to hate me more."

"I don't know what to say to you." She said annoyed.

Our next class started and I sat near Anna. It was mathematics and I am trying my best to concentrate. My head is filled with many thoughts.

"Can I ask you something?" Anna asked.

I nodded.

"Did something happen between you and Davin?"

His name sent shivers through my back. My mouth dropped.

"Wh-Why did you ask?" I asked with panic.

"He has been looking at you from the moment you entered this class," she said with a playful smile.

I slowly look back to his seat. My breath almost stopped when I found his eyes staring at me. There was an unknown expression in his eyes. On a close look, I could see that he has changed his t-shirt. It felt like a staring contest. I couldn't hold it anymore. So, I looked away.

"I bumped on to him a while ago and ruined his t-shirt," I muttered.

I could hear her loud gasp. The whole class turned to her. She gave them an apologetic look.

"What?!!!" She whispered still amazed. "And why didn't tell me?

"I forgot?" I said unsure.

"You forgot? How could you forget such an important thing?"

"I just did. But now when I think of it, I'm scared. What if he wants revenge?" I said as I ran my hands through my hand through my hair.

"This revenge thing can happen, with all his cold personality." She said.

"Really, what am I gonna do?" I was worried. He is the last person I want to take revenge on me. "is he still staring at me?"

"No" I felt relieved at her words.

"Thank goodness." I looked back and assured.

"I should avoid him. He is harmful to my health." I thought.

As the class ended, I rushed through doors so that I could get as far as possible from him. As I approached my locker, I saw Nate standing in front of my locker. He is Lucy's boyfriend. I find him very irritating. He is the number one player in the school and he flirts with every girl.

"Hey, Luna! I was looking for you." He said.

"Why?" I snapped

"Because I missed you."

"What!!?" I asked unbelievingly.

"No, No, what I meant is, I miss your sister," he said scratching his head.

"Oh, okay. Anyway, why are you telling me this?" I asked him.

"I have this gift for her. Can you this to her?"

"Why don't you find her?" I am getting irritated. I want to find a way to escape from him.

"Uhm…I looked for. Bu-but I can't find her." He lied.

"Sorry, I can't help you. She doesn't like me, talking to you." Lucy hates seeing us together. She will create a big issue if she knew, I met him. He and Anna are the only people who knew, she was my sister.

"But, Luna-"

"Sorry, Nate." I escaped from him.
